Marella Explorer Cruise Diaries Pt 2 - Santorini and Mykonos Vlog

- We've just spent an amazing week on the beautiful Marella Explorer on the Iconic Islands Cruise and absolutely loved it.
Although our first time on the Marella Explorer, we've actually holidayed on it before when it was the Celebrity Galaxy - the ship made famous in TV's, The Cruise with Jane MacDonald.
The Marella Explorer is one of five cruise ships in the Marella Cruises Fleet, the others being, The Marella Explorer 2, The Marella Discovery, The Marella Discovery 2 and the Marella Voyager.
If you have been watching our channel for a while, you may know that Rach used to work on the cruise ships many years ago as a production dancer and then as a choreographer.
One of Rach's ships that she worked on for a good while was the Celebrity Century, the sister ship of the Celebrity Galaxy, which is what the Marella Explorer now is.
If you like cruise ship diaries, beautiful locations, Greece, the Mediterranean and anything cruise ship related, then this is the video for you. Over the next few weeks, we will be releasing our cruise ship diaries for the week, focusing on 2 days at a time.
In this Marella Explorer Cruise Ship Diary, it's days 3 and 4 and we visit the beautiful Greek islands of Santorini and Mykonos.
In this Santorini and Mykonos vlog, we start the day in Santorini by visiting the famous blue domed churches in Oia, we then head off to the highest point on Santorini, before exploring the beautiful town of Fira.
The end of the day, we're back onboard the Marella Explorer where we take in the show, eat some lovely food and drink lots of fine wine and beer.
The next day sees us in the beautiful white washed streets of Mykonos Town, where we spend the whole day exploring Mykonos Town.
We look at the famous Mykonos windmills, have some food in Little Venice, made famous by Shirley Valentine and explore the beautiful town.
If you like Greece vlogs or Greek Island vlogs, then this Santorini vlog and Mykonos vlog is for you.
At the end of the day, we end up back onboard the ship for another evening's entertainment.

Another great Vlog … Santorini on our to do list but totally in love with Mykonos… It’s one hell of a place…. There are so many little areas to escape the crowds and soak it up. Explorer is our favourite Marella ship … It just works and is never crowded even at full capacity. We did a half capacity sailing after the pandemic and it felt like the Marie Celeste …Looking forward to Vlog 3

I don't love cable cars... but I would definitely take that rather than climbing up and down all those stairs. I loved the blue domed churches of Oia. And Fira was lovely too. The 16th century Mykonos windmills were really cool to see. Towel animal takedown was an amazing segment. You should always have that in your videos. Thanks for sharing this cruise with us!

I watched part 1 and loved it! My family had octopus mostly during the holidays, I think it's pretty good. Postcard and a Milkshake sounds like a pretty cool second channel, you have to think about this, lol. The churches are so cool, that's so neat that they built each church next to each other, this entire video made me feel like I was right there with you guys. Your video is crystal clear, and your editing is amazing!

I am so jealous, Santorini is somewhere I would like to cruise to! Wow that is a lot of steps. I think I would suffer the cable car (with my eyes closed!). How wonderful that your excursion got you to the church before the masses. Poor towel animals!!! I was obsessed with sail aways on my recent cruise, yours was so beautiful too! Nice to have a wander around Mykonos and a cat hunt, we don't like to do excursions every day. It looks like you are having an amazing cruise!

Well you did a great job with this. We were no shows at a mates Santorini wedding almost a decade ago but boy do we still hear the tales. They aren’t a traditional crowd and come from an exceptionally cough, cough, party hard background. Lets just say getting married was the last thing on their mind and after a lot of hush hush and quiz quiz they were able to turn Santorini into the party capital of the Aegean Sea. Did i say cough, cough, i meant sniff, sniff, sniff, sniff. Anyway we never fancied it, so watching now with open eyes. It does start out to look very traditional..
Oh no, that’s so sad that they gave you that impression of it. I believe it has the party side to it and the very expensive party side, so I’m sure there’s a lot of sniff sniff going on, but we loved it!

Hi guys Santorini is so beautiful the blue and white against the sea just takes your breath away. The bougainvillea were spectacular a lot better than ours which is struggling to keep going. The sunset 🌇 was stunning. Great info as always. The windmills were amazing and the little streets looked perfect to wander and explore. Absolutely beautiful places! Until I watched some youtube videos on Santorini and Mykanos I thought the whole island was whitewashed buildings with blue accents. The islands are actually quite big and as much as the old towns are gorgeous, there's a lot more to the islands.
You are right! - we’ve stayed on Mykonos and travelled over it via bus before. It has some Tosha lovely towns and beaches. We definitely want to go back to Santorini and explore it further for sure. Cheers for watching 🍻

What a top video otherwise as well. The gags were just icing on the cake. Mykonos and Santorini are gorgeous. A bit touristy but what would you expect when you look like that. Love the puddy tats too. No wonder you took time out to pat them Rach. Still not convinced about cruisin' but island hopping by ferry to spend time at each island certainly has some appeal for sure.

Cheers Shane - yep, Wills couldn’t walk past that on the ship without a demo - it’s my ‘No’ as he starts to do it that cracks me up and he’s a bad lad with the Jesus one too! Yes they are a bit touristy, but fingers crossed the island hop can happen in October when they’re quieter and we can go to some of the smaller islands too! I think island hopping will be more our thing, but a cruise is a great way see what you like and then plan a different trip! Cheers for watching 🍻

Loved this guys! Other than Cyprus back in my party days I have never done the Greek islands but they are now high on our list they look gorgeous! It’s still days out, just from a cruise ship. We just want to travel and share our experience of the places so others can decide if it’s for them or not and in this case show what being on a cruise is like, in case they want to try it! Appreciate its not for everyone, but hang fire and we’ll be back in Wales soon! Cheers 🍻
