This age of fighting games is fantastic like seriously giving me that 90s early 2000 vine so many great fighting games is the only thing keeping this generation together bec we don’t have a great choice of games now days you kno
honestly love the editing With a little experience of it myself I know how long this stuff can take so mad props It's fun watching every scene and wondering how you're going to insert your avatar into an edit lol
heh really like the "unless youre scared" in the title. i picked up sf6 (my first fighting game ever btw) a week ago and im addicted and can safely say dont be scared the game wont hurt you they will just beat your ass on an emotional level for the first 10-15 hours
damn you nailed it, i started 2015 mkx, since then i could not stop playing fighting games i got my homie in it and you can say since then there is no single week with out a match even in covid, we expanded to sf5 then tekken 7 then to the new ones now, and lately we are trying kof, this genre is the best, as the cliché heroes say it you understand your bro through your fist they weren talking some random shit, ITS REAL XD
This is something a lot of high level players say to describe playing a fighting game: Fighting games are like debating. If one person doesn't even know the language, the other one will wreck them. If that person doesn't know a certain "trick" about the language while the other does, they'll exploit that and win the debate. But when both can keep up with the other, the debate/fight suddenly becomes really hype After a few years of playing, I can finally see that everyone's personality (even my own) is reflected in the way we play. I usually just keep to myself, don't talk much, but will respond/react if the other person gives me an "easy opening". If I get momentum, I'll make the other person mad, so you can start to guess how my playstyle is, even though I was just describing small bits of my personality
12:05 Free to Play fighters are definitely a great option for those wanting to get into the genre. Dead or Alive 5/6 and Killer Instinct are some other great options.
Wow Salem, fantastic work and content! Definitely subbing and will watch more! Also, if you see this, I’m working on an app to cover (WIP) the history of fighting games. This video is really great to add some history and perspective for the old into the new era of the FGC. If I make an article page about that as a broad topic, may I include your video in that page (via a UA-cam embed of course)? Cheers and best! -smash
I wanna buy tekken 7 since it's on sale on PS4. I dont really play fighting games or shooters or whatever, and i mostly play GTA after i come from my job, but i simply like how really cool tekken 7 looks so im kinda intrigued by it. Should i really buy it or am i throwing my money away?
If you can get it for cheap, it will be a good introduction to fighting games. It was the best for many years. The downside will be that there will be far fewer players online, but if you put some time in you'll see if it feels good or not. If you love it, maybe you can pick up Tekken 8 sometime.
Yeah it's not that simple. Putting my limited time and effort into a video game which has minimum satisfactory return isn't my idea of relaxing. Fighting games require a level of commitment that most players cannot put in. It's easier to just hop on a single player game or a co-op session with friends than grind hours in tutorial only to get beaten up and lose back to back matches because you're still learning. Sure everyone has different take on it, but it's not something i personally would like spend time on.
How satisfactory the return is subjective. To offer a different perspective, It's also precisely BECAUSE they have so little time to commit that many of my older friends with careers and families like fighting games. You can hop on and play a match in about 5 minutes, usually just against friends, and the matchmaking is based largely on their skill level anyway. They don't have 60+ hours to commit to every new single player game that comes out. End of the day, no game is for everyone. I would just like more people to give them a shot is all!
It would seem like from a hardcore fan perspective (Even tho they are still hard asf at the highest level or even lower than a but) But from casual level the story is very different

A lot of the industry as asleep right now whilst fighting games are evolving and growing

But when the tides turn? When you win that game as an underdog? Catharsis.

If 2XKO is a fraction as good as expected, that f2p game could really go wild. I haven't played a dead or alive since xbox360!!
As a lifelong fighting game fan and participant, this was an absolutely excellent and entertaining video essay. Well done sir!
That's kind of you to say friend, Thank-you!!
"no broken items or characters". *Fox McCloud has entered the chat*
I'm talking about traditional fighting games, not party games (I'm joking please don't kill me)

Sure, I don't see why not. Good luck with it!
I got back into Melee and MVC2 last week and I had a good time.
Marvel is absolutely timeless 💯
@@SalemGamorrah 100 percent. I even emulated the Dreamcast version to unlock all the characters for the old school experience.
In conclusion: everyone needs to stop ignoring Soulcalibur.
Unironically, I feel bad for not including it now that you've reminded me! I have played most of the older entries
