Thanks for another super video packed full of interest and history! I think you and Logan definitely passed the 'Test' test! Loved the little robin in the church. Must be getting warmer as neither of you needed a coat. Really enjoyable and seems you wore Logan right out. Well done on the Crufts exploits as well.
Dave this so good because I get to see where Jane Austin went to church. Lovely old church. Thanks for another wonderful walk and thanks Logan for keeping Dave company on his walks🥰
Jane Austen is one of my favourites. Thank you Logan and Dave of course! for such a lovely, informative and interesting video. It’s one place I must visit. ❤️ And well done at Crufts...❤️
This is really great. And so are the others you make Dave. I like the story of Jane Austen and fondly remember her house in Winchester when I used to visit the town with my Mum... I think Jane spent her last days there. I do like the new music at 19:30 Not sure what it's called but it's a great addition in this one.. Congrats on producing so many good videos Dave. Well done. I've created a playlist for my favourites.
Thanks David. Glad you like the new music. Mark Spruce (the composer) has kindly allowed me to use a few tracks of his for free & without copyright which is great. I plan to mix the music between the content from Mark & the previous music that I have used from the UA-cam Audio Library (trying to add the appropriate music to the appropriate walk). The tracks can be found at spruce1.bandcamp.com/album/fingers-and-strings
Thanks for yet another brilliant video Dave. This is definitely another one we'll do with our two Dachshunds in the future. But I do have one question... It appears you haven't explored Wiltshire yet in your videos to date. I really hope you could consider some of the beautiful walks around our way such as the Chalke Valley and Old Sarum areas. I note from a previous video you used to work in Salisbury so I guess you have some local knowledge too. Keep up the good work, and very much looking forward to your next episode! Best wishes, Henry & Beth
Thank you both. I certainly hope to do some walks in Wiltshire at some stage. I have got a fairly full schedule of walks planned in Hampshire, Dorset & West Sussex over the Summer so it may well be in the Autumn that I start venturing "North". Thanks for watching.
Good evening Dave yet another extremely interesting video so very enjoyable to watch best channel on UA-cam just to ask how is fiver doing will we see him on the channel all the best Craig.
Very interesting observation on the source of the Test Dave. I guess it would be worth visiting in the summer to see whether it had dried up or not. John
Good idea John. I have just done a walk in the New Forest, following the Highland Water from it's source to Bolderford Bridge (where it becomes the Lymington River). The length is about 6 miles ...... but virtually all of it was bone dry! It really has been a hot & dry Summer for sure.
Well done Dave. A very informative walk in an area I’m not too familiar with. I thought the source of the river Test was on southern water property. My only recollection of Steventon was playing cricket there and I remember that due to a public road which ran through the outfield. Play had to be halted when a vehicle wanted to pass through.
My Mum worked at Steventon Manor when she was 14 as a servant, she was paid £18 a year, half of that was sent home to her mum who lived in South Shields in Northumberland. She told me she had to be up at 6am to set and light fires. On Sundays all the staff were expected to go to St Nicholas Church. I believe Sir Onslow Fane owned it. He had hunting horses , which he shot when he discovered they were to be requisitioned for WWII. A sad day. Mum went from here to Astwood Farm near Birmingham to join the Land Army

As a Jane Austen fan (like many French people), I learned a lot from this immersion in the places of her early youth, thank you very much!
Thank you & indeed thanks for watching.

Thanks Jean. It is so much more relaxing when you don't need a coat!

You really do get a feel for what it must have been like for Jane Austen living around there.
@@DaveFord Absolutely agree. It is beautiful Dave. ☀️

Another great walk Dave and such an amazing range of houses from country manor to thatched country cottage.
Thanks Mark. You can just imagine what it must have been like in the days of Jane Austen.
Really enjoyed this, thanks Dave.
Thank you Jacqueline.
Brilliant and informative. Will be following this trail later!
Thank you Matt. Hope you have good weather when you do the walk. Thanks for watching.

Thanks Lionel. That situation with the cricket sounds interesting!
Loved this.
Thanks Bon & indeed thank you or watching.
i love all things austen beautiful video loved the church and the countryside would love to see chawton is it far from steventon?
Chawton is about 15 miles (by car) to the South East of Steventon.

What fascinating information Mary. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. Great that you have a family connection with the Manor & the Church.
My mum was also a servant for Lady Bolton, she met my father there. Their ashes lay at St Nicholas Church .
Fab. walk but you didn't include a picture of the signpost--- Birthplace of Jane Austen.
Thanks Charlotte. I did get it in the thumbnail though! :)
Felicitaciones gracias por compartir , sera posible incluir en subtítulo también al español

Thanks Archie. It certainly would give a different perspective, for sure. Thanks for watching.
