I can’t tell you how much I appreciate how transparent and honest you are. I’m a first time mum to a 10 month old and I can relate to you so much, my house looks like yours (and much worse) like 99% of the time and I feel so depressed sometimes because all we see are other people with perfectly tidy homes and looking like they have all their shit completely together!! You’re my favourite mum influencer ❤️

Thank you for your honesty Shan. It really is refreshing. You're absolutely doing the right thing by getting the HV involved with regards to George. I have noticed a lot of similarities in George and my eldest son :) I assumed he was just a high energy boisterous boy who was still learning boundaries and emotional regulation etc... and it was only when he started school that it became apparent that he is neurodivergent (no diagnosis yet as waiting lists are ridiculously long but educational psychologist thinks he is autistic and ADHD). To be honest, I did not realise how close the signs of autism and ADHD are and I assumed because my son didn't display any 'obvious' signs of autism (always been very sociable, met his milestones as expected etc.) that it couldn't be autism but it presents so differently in every single person! So I just wanted to share that as it is something I really wish I had known sooner! Also, as I mentioned the waiting lists are SHOCKING when they are referred for assessment through the school system and they tend to be a lot shorter waiting times when referred through the HV, so something to bear in mind if it comes to it (we're talking 4.5 years plus in our area!). Please let us know how little man gets on :) xxx

Thank you for sharing the health visitor - George segment.. I know you guys battle with how much you share but I think this was done really well in the video -
So please do share how you get on and maybe you could do a sit down and give an insight on how you reached out to get support for you? I know a lot of mums are scared too do so.
    Have a lovely trip!

This is probably the most amazing video you’ve done yet , your brutal honesty makes me feel like genuinely on the same wave length with you , I feel like my toddlers behavior is just so crazy … day 2 of no tv and what a change in behavior already xxx I hid the remote though and kidded on I couldn’t find it 😂💪 this mum life is no joke , but your a great mum and your channel really is helping me so so much probably more than you even know 💕

Thanks for sharing, love seeing what life with 2 looks like as we look forward to welcoming baby no.2. Janet Lansbury's podcast 'unruffled' has been such a great help for us through the toddler phase. Like you say most of the time its us and our reaction/perspective which can help/hinder situations.

I commented on a previous video - don’t want to badger the point in case you did see the comment and had any bad feelings towards it! But I’m a psychology graduate focused on foetal and child development - there’s a huge amount of research about the negatives of screen time (proper scientific research not just anecdotal). Research does show screen time can induce ADHD-like symptoms. I wrote more in the previous comment a couple of blogs back so won’t go on and on as I know it’s a touchy subject! Only ever meant with the best intentions xxx

Thanks for sharing. Just wondering what if a child shows signs for ADHD e.g. cant concentrate on a activity for long like 10seconds, doesnt like watching tv, always on the go and very mischievous... are these signs for ADHD as well? But it could be anything really xxx

Yes absolutely. Also from brain scan results you can clearly see that daily screen time for children damages the brain in the same way as severe drug addiction and also dementia. Really tragic that we are not told any of that by doctors/nurses/health visitors!

Defo agree screen time should be limited… however we must also remember that a lot of us who are actually quite old now in our late 30s 40s 😝 also had screen time as babies and children ( and other things like being bottle fed- horror 😱)Yes we didn’t have iPads and phones but we did watch tv and there was no thought at that time that it was harmful and vast majority of people don’t have major issues… so think we should limit but not scaremonger

I think there is a difference between the type of tv children watched in the 80’s/90’s and now. The shows now are HD, fast paced (more clips per scene) and the colours a higher contrast. It’s not as simple as time spent in front of a screen, it’s what is on the screen that has changed. If you were to compare cocomelon to playdays you will see what I mean.

I sold my TV intending to get a new one once I started back after maternity leave but accidentally mistimed the sale and ended up without one for way longer than expected. 2 months into not having a TV and my 2.5 year old is transformed and an absolute joy. I watched lots of TV as a kid and had no behavioural issues, but my daughter is a new girl minus screen time. I miss having one to watch stuff on but don't want to go back to the old ways - torn! Maybe I'll get a frame type TV for my room so the kids don't cotton on haha. Thank you for sharing re HV support. It hasn't crossed my mind to ask for support tbh...

Our bodies are supposed to change throughout life, please dont feel pressured to fit back into smaller clothing, your body size, shape and weight dont define you. You're beautiful at any size 🙏🏼🫶🏼
Re the health visitor, my baby girl who is now 11 months old was born 9 weeks prem at 31 weeks. We have seen our health visitors once, she has been completely useless and unsupportive. Its nice to hear you've had a good experience Shan ❤️ xx

Love a caravan holiday! I have one coming up too, but the thought of being crammed in such a small space with all the baby and toddler stuff is making me wonder if it was such a good idea 😂 hope you are having a great time?!
Also, how lovely to have such a handy hubby! Me and mine are as useless as each other and we have to get someone in for the smallest of jobs 😂 Will look forward to the bathroom updates :)
    Take care xxx

Love how honest you are in your videos. I really struggled to find jeans that fit after having my little one too and have found the best ones are Levi's. Super comfy, great fitting and stretchy!! I got mine off vinted rather than paying full price 😊xx

We also notice a huge difference when there’s not been any screen time, when he watches tv now we try and limit it to less stimulating programmes, which is tough as he’s obsessed with those UA-cam videos of people playing with cars and trucks etc! Loads of bright colours and music and it sends him wild, loads of melt downs etc after. It’s a tough one to balance when you need time to cook tea or get things done though! It’s so hard trying to juggle everything and keep them entertained! Also taking magnesium and I think there’s been a bit of a difference since taking it over the last couple of weeks.. but you never truly know! Still waking in the night but a little bit easier to get back to sleep! 😂

Morning Shan, have you tried M&S for jeans, that's where I got mine from, lots of different fits and styles and really comfortable.
On a side note, you're right, it's insane how much stuff you need when you go on holiday with kids. Me, my husband and 2 kids went away for 3 days, 3 DAYS!, we took 7 bags (shopping bags for life) plus a travel cot and nappy bag, and that was us trying to pack light. 😂

My middle daughter is now 7 and she has always displayed challenging behaviour when coming off the tablet or on utube etc. We don't use tablets much now and limit TV if we can. I have 4 it's so hard like you say . Bluey is a god send when you need a shower! But my eldest and other daughter are fine . All kids are so different aren't they xx

Hi Shan lovely vlog. You looked lovely for your brunch. George’s sleep, does he sleep with his mouth open or snore? If he talks like he has a blocked nose, a bit nasally he could have enlarged tonsils or adenoids and it prevents restful sleep and will wake him up. It’s so hard to tell on the video but you’ll know him best. Xxx

    • @AbiBloomUK
      @AbiBloomUK 2 місяці тому +1

My son has this (obstructive sleep apnoea) has had it since a newborn. I think George’s sleep was good and now not bad, but potentially good with magnesium. OSA is pretty consistently bad and terrible when they’ve got the slightest colds. I think a good night for us is 6 wake ups 😅
