I wasn't the biggest fan of SOR3, the difficulty spike was crazy, and the move from the amazing bumpy house music of the first two games to a more techno focus soundtrack really disappointed me. I know from a technical stand point SOR1 is lacking compared to the rest of the franchise, but SOR1 was truly the first time I felt like I had an arcade quality experience in my own home, and for that reason it has to be higher than SOR4 for me.

@@TheHarryDunne I would recommend people to look at Nevermore1414 videos he managed to do full combos with every characters, so did Waternar for me though the videos I enjoyed the most were Blaze being played by Badmoon or by Rilsy, they both go for speedruns and the fights are so fluid, every movement is carefully thought through and prepared in advanced, it is like listening and seeing an exquisite melody played on screen
I wonder if Streets of Rage Revolution will be a proper sequel to SoR4 or a spinoff of sorts. Being the first 3D game is quite the change, so maybe they didn't name it SoR5 to keep the possibility of a proper 2D sidescroller sequel to SoR4 in the future.
Funny how Sega protected the SoR brand yet let Sonic go off the rails. Anyway, SoR4 was a great game. I didn’t like the voice work but it was fun to play & that’s what matters!

the only thing i would say about streets of rage 4 is the unlockables are really aimed at todays generation of gamers. fro someone from the past may have been there done that.
S0r2 and 4 are the best imo easily they have the best music and atmosphere too s0r4 is chefs kiss the combat is immaculate Cherry Estelle S0r2 blaze S0r4 and 3 Axel adam Floyd roo and both shivas are my favorites to use.
Bought the physical edition for Switch. Great Beat em Up game. Never played the older games on the Sega systems. Double Dragon, Final Fight and Turtles were my beat em up games back on the Snes.
Best characters : Streets of rage 3 axel : because he can run and Streets of rage 4 adam : his semi-special attacks can overpower the rolling big boys.
Makes sense it has SF references in this game. One of them being the “Kikosho” move from Chun-Li which Blaze uses aswell which is sick and also Rekkaken which Fei Long uses! So cool!
I actually love the art style for some reason. I dropped out of gaming for some time, due to lack of time and some other issues in life. A friend of mine had this on xbox one when it first came out and I played it with him and the next day I bought an xbox one just to play this game. It got me back into gaming on a semi regular basis. Love the game although I haven't mastered it as well as I did with number 2. I'll definitely go back to it.

I didn't really like the ost. It sounded like a compilation album without a singular vision. The DLC with Tee Lopes sounded as good or better than Yuzo's classics & I'd like to see a new SOR with just Tee Lopes or Tee, Yuzo & Kawashima so they could work with a single motif that gets expanded on throughout the whole game like SOR1-3 did.
SOR4 is awesome and I was so happy they didn't screw it up. I wish the same team could do a Splatterhouse 4 and bring it back to its roots and greatness. I was not a fan of the direction they took with Splatterhouse 2011 stylistically, or the Heavy Metal music.
shredder's revenge keeps making it onto this list, the visuals are eyecancer and the game's dogshit comparatively to the top ~10-15 beat 'em ups over the last few years. it detracts from how amazing sor4 is to even be mentioned.
The art style looks more lare 90s comic and less anime to me personally. I think it fits the game overall to be honest. Probably wouldn't have been my first choice but I also don't dislike it at all. Kind of reminds me of Comix Zone especially with the shirt tied around the waist on Axel. The exception being the Y twins, they look and move very anime. Mr. Y looks like Soma Cruz from Castlevania Aria of Sorrow
SoR4 it's good... but disappointing. Love the designs and graphics, the combos are very fun and the music is so good, but everything else feels meh. What bothered me the most was how easy it was compared to the other entries. I finished the game in mania and still felt like a downgrade in difficult compared to SoR2. That and the lack of content made the game dull after a few runs, even with the survival DLC. SoR Remake is a better experience than SoR4, it has everything that this one should had.
Huge fan of SOR2. I just want to beat people up i dont want annoying gimmicks to every fight. I thought it completely missed the mark on being streets of rage
I wish that Streets of Rage 4 would have been a pixel art game with Neo Geo graphics. This modern estetic doesn't really suit the game series and I have been putting off my purchase of the game because of that.
What this is all about is this truly incredible and special and it's just a beautiful thing that people with great minds think alike can come together and bring something so amazing like this. I never ever thought streets for was ever going to happen after playing 3 long long time ago on the elementary school and what I heard about for and dug into the history of what's going on for it to become possible it is truly amazing. I wish more game developers and team and staff would work together just like these guys did to bring this great video game because the story about this is truly truly special

So bit ashamed to say that I've had the game for a few years now and never really enjoyed it. Only to watch your video and realise that the special move you can do can also not deplete your energy bar if you fight fast enough after......doh now it seems a bit more fluid after giving it another go. The police with shields used to drive me crazy 🤪
All so good! 4 is a masterpiece and we probably won’t get anything as good ever again. We all know it should not go 3d. Still looking forward to what Sega will do with it
I do have high hopes for the new 2.5d streets of Rage. I honestly like the look of it. That very short little teaser having been all I have to go on. Also Golden Axe.
I found this game good, but the downer for me are that the levels are too short and boring, not enough selection of bad characters in the stages, not big enough selection of bosses and the game ended too soon. with only 12 short stages.
Remake was incredible but I really liked the new SOR4 art. Then with 8 characters and survival mode thrown into the mix. I think it's at least around SOR Remakes level. Imagine if they did another update.
Awesome job Top Har. Yes I agree. IGM sucks! SOR 4 was all that and then some! I loved it. It’s more than a nostalgia fix. The game was absolutely fun.
If I were in production I'd have Axel be in his prison clothes while fighting in a gaulet because of his addiction to fighting. Also, have Roo and that other character be a cameo and fight beside you on a specific stage.
I greatly appreciate how much work all the people are who are involved in making this game! I follow at least one or two of the artists on Twitter, and always love how people re-invent music that both reminds people of the previous games, as well as makes something new! Now after saying all that... I haven't gotten around to buying it yet, as I have a couple other beat-em-ups that I haven't even touched yet.
my favourite new beat them up are Dragon's Crown, River City Girls, and Phantom Breakers. Sections of the Neir Automaton were very close to beat them up type game play too though it did a lot of different genres. Street of Rage 4 and TMNT Shredder's Revenge were the best of the beat them ups of all time.
Sorry but no, for me. I dislike Streets of Rage 4's cartoony graphics. The older games' graphics looked more realistic, and the sprites were realistic and nice-looking. I especially refer to Streets of Rage 2.

SOR2 will always be my favourite, but SOR4 is an amazing addition to the franchise.
SOR2 > SOR4 > SOR3 > SOR1, IMO. SOR1 isn't bad, but the rest are just better in pretty much every way.

Streets of Rage 4 is quite possibly the best sidescrolling beat 'em up to come out since the mid-90's.
The combo system pushed it above the previous ones. Gave it more replayability too
No other beat’em up games come close.

SOR4 was my first in the series even though I grew up in the Genesis era, it is very satisfying!
The closest I played in the 90s was Fighting Force.
I prefer SoR4 over SoR2 and the latter is still a masterpiece. Blaze is best girl.

Remake was incredible but I really liked the new SOR4 art. Then with 8 characters and survival mode thrown into the mix. I think it's at least around SOR Remakes level. Imagine if they did another update.

Awesome job Top Har. Yes I agree. IGM sucks! SOR 4 was all that and then some! I loved it. It’s more than a nostalgia fix. The game was absolutely fun.

if only running (forward forward) mechanics and dodges ( up up , down down) were added, they add more to the fighting strategy and speed of the game.
If I were in production I'd have Axel be in his prison clothes while fighting in a gaulet because of his addiction to fighting. Also, have Roo and that other character be a cameo and fight beside you on a specific stage.

I enjoy most of the recent beat em up games but I wish they had the auto 2 player like Final Fight 3 and Streets of Rage Remake.
Streets Of Rage was not a system exclusive... it was also released on the Master System in PAL region.

I greatly appreciate how much work all the people are who are involved in making this game! I follow at least one or two of the artists on Twitter, and always love how people re-invent music that both reminds people of the previous games, as well as makes something new! Now after saying all that... I haven't gotten around to buying it yet, as I have a couple other beat-em-ups that I haven't even touched yet.
my favourite new beat them up are Dragon's Crown, River City Girls, and Phantom Breakers. Sections of the Neir Automaton were very close to beat them up type game play too though it did a lot of different genres. Street of Rage 4 and TMNT Shredder's Revenge were the best of the beat them ups of all time.
Definitely a great game, just wish we got more colors and customization options for the characters, that would have been great!!

I dislike Streets of Rage 4's cartoony graphics. The older games' graphics looked more realistic, and the sprites were realistic and nice-looking. I especially refer to Streets of Rage 2.

Sor 3 sprites were crazy detailed for genesis. I was hoping the sor 4 sprites would be to be more of an enhanced and updated version of sor 3.
Now if only Resident Evil Outbreak file 3 would come true.
