There is no way that there is a single better produced fly tying video on the internet. Incredible. Oh, and the fly looks like it could be a winner also.
I have a fly called the “government worker” but it doesn’t catch anything and is nearly impossible to remove from my leader once attached. I have another called the “union worker”, but it can only be used in a team of 3, even when a single fly is best. Finally, one of my best patterns is the “teleworker”, but it’s never there when I need it.
Love the sulky trick. Will tie some up fer sur. The product placement in the classic Steelers glass and some of your instruments is the where the genius is, bravo Josh for the fly and cinematography!
Thanks. I would argue that it's a variation of a Pheasant Tail. The Frenchie is too. But the Frenchie platform ( the key elements) are bead, cdl tail, pheasant tail body and a flashy dubbed collar. That's the way I see it.
@@Troutbitten good point. I always viewed the Frenchie as a naked bead head PTN that had a hot spot collar. So a PTN stripped of a wing case and legs, plus a hot spot. The ingredients themselves are interchangeable. I think we’re talking semantics here though. Either way, you got a cool fly there that I can’t wait to tie. Come to think of it, an interesting blog post might be a discussion on the fly pattern design tree. What defines an original pattern versus a variation and how many truly original patterns are there? Is the stimulator it’s own design or just a variation of the sofa pillow and is the sofa pillow just a variation of a trude style dry fly?
Cheers. Let me know how it goes. Also, if you're new to tying, check out @tightlineproductions for the best fly tying content on the web, in my opinion.
Hi Domenik, I really enjoyed this video and the way you presented it, it was nice to see you pouring a beer 🍺 for consuming during the making of the video, some people are far too serious and regimented about the way they present their videos, the fly itself looks fantastic, and I am going to tie some up and try them out for Grayling on my next trip, if I can find a blue thread like yours, I am sure our Scottish Grayling will love them, as will our Brown trout when our season starts up again in March, I really enjoy your website also, I have picked up lots of tips from watching and reading your stuff, thank you very much
Would love to see you 'live' tie some of your other confidence flies Dom, particularly nymphs and dries...these are great videos to watch and learn from...very helpful...thanks for sharing
Wow. Masterfully done. Josh hit it out of the park on this one. Great technique with the furled ribbing, too. I appreciate your thinking around sensible taper vs. overbeading, as well. This video series is top-notch.
Thanks so much for this video. After I tied some of these up, I found they work lights out in the Texas hill country for our native Rio Grande Cichlids!
Wow ! Dom and Josh just a fabulous job with this video!! 👏🏼 So tasteful and to the point without dragging on and on, and the broken heals is a nice touch. Great pattern ! Cheers boys 😎
I’ve read your stuff it just found your UA-cam channel this morning. Have to agree with everything! Impressive presentation of the tie! Love all the detail especially the ribbing method. Never saw that. Going to give it a try.
Awesome video! As a new tier, I really like the simplicity and colors of this fly. It just really pops to my eye. Plus I’m really glad to see a “Fellow Steelers Fan” anytime, we truly are “Everywhere”
So I’ve had a lot of success with this pattern this spring. I had my tattoo artist do some flies as space fillers on my arm and decided to make one of them a BCW. 🎉
What a unique spin on tying videos. Wilds Media knocked it out of the park. Also, a great little fly. I was wondering if you would be adding some into your tips and you delivered. Thanks for the great content, as always. To the desk...
I like that twist mylar ribbon with 6x tippet idea. I normally use a dubbing loop of crystal flash but will give that a try. Nice simple fly. I don't normally tie this sort of fly as big a 10 but will give that a try too.
A Stillers glass, you gotta be a good egg. As a commercial tyer I'm always looking for a good excuse to create. And you are the first tyer I've seen in thirty five years who mentioned that little pop when you push the thread locking it in. I had long ago just assumed it was a me thing and I was just neurotic.
Nice. Although I like the Blowtorch, I don't think I understand how this fly has Blowtorch elements. For me, the Blowtorch key elements are the Peacock, the tag hot spot and the soft hackle. Cheers.
Great video. What different sizes will you carry this fly. It is going out for testing in the PNW. Thanks for all you and the whole Troutbitten do. Fish hard!!
Great and simple, I love cdc these days all my top producing variants have cdc because it just seems to make these flys super fishy! Also loving the podcast
Damn, do I have to tie this while drinking out of a Steelers cup? No go. Seriously, great video. Now show me your super secret fly😁 Great job guys! Thanks. - Mark on the South Fork of the Snake PS: hint- I lightly coat my thread with super glue before wrapping the pheasant tail and it Greatly increases its durability.
Great presentation. Really feels like we're in the fly tying room with you. I wonder if the blue hot spot is more effective than red at enticing trout in low light conditions due to blue having a longer wavelength
Good thought there. I couldn't answer it intelligently. I just know that this one produced for me, surprisingly well, right away. I mean, I don't do many tying videos or articles. I haven't done a nymph since the Bread-n-Butter. This fly hits for me.
Ha. Cool question. How about both, in tandem? No, seriously though, I'm always going with the hot hand. And for me, I've been tying on the BCW a lot lately. I fish the B&B all year, but it really turns on for me in the spring, during the sulphurs, and it rolls through the summer into early fall, when other patterns take over.
This fly has been on fire for me this fall/winter. Do you ever change up the rib and just go with silver wire? I did this on some size 12 and they were money. Enjoy everything Troutbitten puts out. You have shortened my learning curve. Thanks!
Cheers. Sure thing. Mess around with it. I really doubt that the rib material matters much. But I do love it the way it is. Just different than other stuff in my box.
I really like this fly =) caught several fish on this as a dropper yesterday. I do have another question regarding mono rigs and euro nymphing. With all the reels I have the thin mono and even the Euro line gets out of the spool, then wrapped up in the center piece, or around the reel handle. I've tried 4 different Reels and all have the same issue. Question is do you have any recommendations for a good reel that can keep the thin line on the spool? Thank you!
We call that the Mono Pull Through. It doesn't have to happen, and you don't have to put up with it. Here's more: troutbitten.com/2017/07/19/tight-line-tips-stop-mono-pull-fly-reel/
Neat version of Sawyer's PT nymph, can't wait to tie some up. Only flaw in the video is at the very end. There seems to be a misspelling on your beverage glass. The correct spelling should be EAGLES. (We will see who are the Pennsylvania Champions next weedend, eh :-) Thanks for the tie.
There is no way that there is a single better produced fly tying video on the internet. Incredible. Oh, and the fly looks like it could be a winner also.
That's super nice. Thank you! Josh has the skills. And if you do tie up some Blue Collar Workers, let me know how they fish. Cheers.

If not fishing or working, I think I just found my new hobby. Tie flies while drinking craft beers. Awesome video!

Great now I have to buy blue thread. Great looking pattern Dom.

Interesting variation of a Frenchie, which I have a lot of success with as my go-to searching nymph. Can't wait to try this one out.
