32GB is bad news for a Windows 10 laptop. It makes it very difficult to update windows because windows update demands 8GB+ of free space. This makes these laptops a security risk. I bought a laptop with 32GB storage and I can't make enough space to update. I have to use another laptop or desktop (which I don't have) and a usb drive to do the update. There must literally be millions of these 32GB eMMC laptops out there that can't be updated. Microsoft really need to find a better solution to this problem.
Optionally on the Chromebook, you can install Windows by Coolstar’s guidance and if you’re ultimately willing to sacrifice warranty to run legacy applications.
My review of Austin Evans. Honestly not really worth it ,he called smash ultimate and splatoon 2 ports and has an annoying voice so my it's doing to be a no from me dawg.
I have the Celeron N3450 version of the ASUS. Upgraded it with an SSD and the day-to-day performance is sufficient. It's not really fast, but for your college requirements needs, it works out.
I actually scored my Samsung Chromebook 3 for $90 from Amazon in the summer of 2017. I mainly use it as a Hulu and Netflix machine because my 'main' laptop is garbage. I also like to hook it up to the big-ass tv in my living room and watch my movie collection on it
Maybe at that price range one can also considered used options? For example, the Dell Latitude D630 revised version that I got has a much better Magnesium build quality than any of these here, has the biggest screen, better keyboard, and upgradability to better config than all of these here, if not already much better. Though there are obvious downsides such as battery life, size/mass, and the GPU cooling problem if you don't know how to replace the thermal pad with a copper shim. Similar things can be said for other business laptops like ThinkPad T61/p for example.
I got an older Dell Inspiron witha Pentium N3530. Pretty great laptop for travel (light with long battery), web surfing etc. Upgraded to SSD and put more Ram in it and it's been a great one to work with for the price. Can't game, but I got anotehr for that.
the funny thing is that the computers that are standard issue for my school are the samsung chromebook 3. They are pretty decent, and are ok for school use. Not something i'd recommend for home and personal use, however.
Running Windows isn't hard on a 32GB hard drive. You can just install a Lite version of Windows 7 and you should be good if you don't play games and do heavy work.
I bought an Evoo 11.6 inch laptop for $70 on eBay, it was actually usable and could run some games, TF2, Stardew Valley, and Minecraft although for TF2 I needed to bring the settings down and Minecraft needed Optifine to run better. I did use GeForce now on it and it ran fine obviously. I've now switched to a $97 dollar Mid2007 MacBook with Xubuntu OS on it and it's much better.
Ethan Lenning In 2012 I got a $200 laptop and it is much more usable at the time, it actually had 250gb of storage. 32 gb of storage, what a joke for 2019z
1:38 I have taken this thing apart and that it has a fan is just an advertisement, the heatsink is just a plate that is smaller than HALF A laptop ram stick, search it up and you might regret what you saw
I feel like Chromebooks can replace windows. It's small light simple and can run android apps. Whereas windows is big and slow and not good for older laptops
Man, I miss UMPC/Netbooks like the old Asus eePC, OG Acer Aspire One, and the MSI Wind. Those things, with 7-9 inch displays, running more modern components from tablets and phone would be hyper-mobile battery sipping BEASTS. The OG Aspire One was $290 and fit in my coat pockets-- to get a laptop that does that now, I'm looking at $700+ for a GPD Pocket 2 or $500+ for a Planet Gemini. BRING BACK CHEAP ULTRAPORTABLES, PC INDUSTRY!!
I do have to say, if it were my choice, I'd still go with the Asus in spite of all the performance drawbacks. Let's face it, none will blow your socks off, but the Asus will at least compensate with versatility and value otherwise. Keyboard, screen size and detail, I/O, and upgradability (I guess?) make it a more compelling buy for me. Obviously more people would probably go for the performance, but I like having options, and the Asus gives me plenty. If operating system and I/O weren't a concern (at least for me), the Chromebook would be the best experience, I imagine.
The Asus one is fine and gets the job done but the space is very small and the charger is easily breakable alongside the laptop overheats when plugged in for a long time
This is actually cool, but if you insist a bit with some patience and you don't mind a USED laptop, you can find much better one with those prices. But it might depend on what you want: Size, Noise, Aspect(might trick you), Performance, Present/Older Technology, etc. I mean, you cand find one that is pretty old , but still decent for office work, music, movies and some silly games, afterall , you're looking for cheap but acceptable. I, for one, i hunted two months for a laptop, and i've got a used T440 (i5 /8gb /bios free) for 125$(hard to deal with currencies). Having patience is the trick to find the right person to make a deal, this works if you don't have money or don't want to buy a new one, whatever is good for you.
i own the the 2 in 1 version of the dell and it is pretty solid for Word and websurfing ... unless windows is downloading updates which renders the laptop useless. i think we can thank the eMMC storage for bottle necking updates. there is a model of the dell with a 500gb HD option which you could swap out for an ssd but by the time you upgrade you might as well just bought a better laptop in the first place.
The cheapest laptop is the E203MA-TBCL232A available at Bestbuy on sale from 80-130 depending on Ram/Open box. I can't speak for Windows but Linux Mint runs like a champ and I get solid 10h battery.
I work at a company that sells these laptops. Please do not buy them. They're absolute garbage. Some have as high as a 20% return rate cause they're so slow. Spend at least $250 on a laptop, please!
My first computer was the Asus laptop or something VERY close. It has a different model # but it looks like the exact same thing. It really sucked but TO THIS DAY I still regret selling it at a garage sale for only $40. I can think of a lot of good uses for it and I'm pretty sure that I could of saved a chunk of money by porting windows from this thing onto my next computer that I have now.
I have the Dell and I upgraded to 500gb ssd, it moves so fast and is perfect.... but the Evoo, can it be upgraded to SSD? Or is the memory nonDetachable.
I literally bought that ASUS one on Saturday so I’m glad it’s not terrible. I’m just using it for school and Netflix so I’m not too disappointed with it’s performance, considering the price point as well.
It would be interesting to see how long they last with the laptops as with 32 GB of memory there is more memory on mobile phones than on some of the laptops . My friend got one and because the memory was soldered to the laptop it literally crashed all the time and just couldn't cope because it didn't have enough storage just doing simple tasks
I have that exact same laptop, same specs, same everything...... NOW EXPLAIN TO ME WHY ITS BASE CLOCK IS 1.6ghz ITS NOT THE AIO VERSION AND IT STILL DOES NOT GO UP TO 2.0GHZ IT JUST GOES DOWN TO 1.20 GHZ
I'm curious how long it took to run all the windows update on these...my surface 3 took over 8 hrs to download and install everything when I first got it
Just bought a 145 dollar laptop called I-Life Zed Book W it is 10.1 inch but it has Intel atom quad core processor and touch screen detachable display so we can also use as a tablet PC..
If your budget is as low as the prices of those laptop, you might get a better deal at going to your nearby pawn store for used laptops that can be more powerful than those in the video.
