For that price, this laptop can't be beat. This laptop is small and thin for a 15.6" screen and it can also fit in 14" laptop sleeve. You can enjoy real potential of this laptop by installing SSD.
Bruh just start a series called "can it game? And just buy laptops like this one and see If it can game. Very simple idea of mine ive been keeping to myself. Ima keep reposting this comment until it happens. Let's make it happen bois.
Actually this is only a good idea for people who are ignorant about computers. For example once you have tested if an i5u laptop with integrated graphics will game, then you have seen them all. No need to test if another model will game or not because you can already expect similar results.
I’m the IT guy at the smallish non profit that I work at, I started buying this model for coworkers a few months ago, and I just replace the HDD with a 256gb SSD for usually about $40. So far the 3-4 that I’ve bought have been a huge hit. High quality, lightweight, stylish, and fast/powerful for less than $600? Love it
Sold! I've been looking for a good low-cost option for my mother, who deals more in office applications than media applications, so this computer's great combination of I/O, moderate upgradability, solid build, good hardware, reasonable price, and decent style is just right for her! Thanks, Austin!
I got a HP power laptop with 7700HQ, GTX 1050 4GB, 8GB RAM, 2TB hybrid HDD and had a M.2 slot. I then later added a 128GB SDD. Total cost was $599, I think I did a good decision. Would have loved it to be the "TI" tho.
I'm writing this reply with my x510ua, I upgraded the ram to 16 (while i5-8250u supports up to 32gb), swapped out the 1TB HDD for a 2TB and added a 500gb m2 ssd, this laptop is incredibly awesome (especially the nano-edge feels so good that even tho the laptop screen size is 15.6, it can almost fit a 15" carrybag)
Hey man! I'm from Washington state. I'm trying to buy it off Amazon but in addition to 510 price, there's this 50 dollar sperate tax also. Is that normal?
I almost got the f510ua too, on paper it beats pretty much every laptop in its price range. But then somebody gave me a free broken 09 dell & I fixed it with $100 in parts. Fresh win10 copy. Surprisingly usable for a old dual core, 2.2ghz. This has really shown me you don't gotta go out dropping $300++++ just to get a laptop for basic use which is all I need, to take training courses with
Bruh. I had to use a Celeron N2840-powered laptop for editing my 720p videos. I have since been using this Dell Inspiron 3252 small desktop that I received from a friend who was moving away, but didn't want it anymore. (It's a Pentium N3700, better, but not by too much.)
This was a perfect buy for what I needed it to do, I bought it for deployment and works flawless. I don't even have a m.2 in it. A lot better then using a phone to do everything.
I bought it 8 months ago and there was a problem with its hinge that eventually cracked the laptop screen :( Fortunately Asus fixed it for me since it was under warranty
You need a better laptop with higher end graphic card like geforce 1080ti. Come on you will be playing Minecraft. How can intel uhd handle such a big game with lots of rendering. 😂😂😂
I have this machine and it's amazing, price or no price. It's a high-spec machine. I added a 500 GB Crucial MX500 SSD ad an extra 8 GB RAM (it can support 32 GB). The other specs are high-end. The fact that it's made of plastic is a plus because it makes it less damage-prone to being carried around in a bag.
I bought the SSD version last week. Wasn’t disappointed. I did need GeForce NOW for my gaming though, since the integrated graphics don’t run much games at all.
I found an HP laptop with I5 7300HQ RX 550 12GB RAM 1 TB HDD 15.6 IPS screen $320 on Ebay Edit: It was $400 but I used a 20% off coupon. Is this a good deal?
For 320 bucks it sounds like a good deal. It is gonna be slower cause it doesn't seem to have a SSD, but you could probably install it yourself for like 40 bucks. But it all depends on what your gonna use it for... I think 12 gbs of ram is a bit much for the average user. But again it depends on what you need the laptop for... I wouldn't use it for gaming or anything. But I would use it for school work (like word and powerpoint), browsing the internet, and watching netflix/youtube. But it all depends.
The one thing this laptop has going for it. It has a really nice keyboard with backlit keys. The more expensive models feature full metal but this thing can really pack a punch
I picked up a laptop for $799 so like $850 with tax (should've waited a week for another $50 off) 1080p FHD display 8 GB Ram 1050TI - 4GB 8GB RAM Intel Core i5 4.0Ghz Bluetooth and fingerprint sensor, backlit keyboard, fancy stuff 128GB SSD + 1 TB HHD Good Deal or was there something better I should return and get? I use this for college and light csgo and maybe some Quake.
That home/end layout on the keyboard reminds me of my old ASUS laptop --- which is actually killer for programming and writing. This would be a nice student machine for sure
Jannik Larsen ok? If you're just using it for work then a cheap $200 laptop should work, unless you're some sort of extremely high res photo editor or video editor.
A few days ago I bought an HP pavilion 15 with Specs: i7-8550U @ 1.80Ghz 12gbs of ram 15.6 IPS panel at 1920 x1080 1tb of storage Intel UHD graphics 620 Backlit keyboard For $430 plus whatever taxes were. Did I do good?
I bought a $200 Asus notebook 3 years ago. It has a 1.44GHz Atom processor and it performs pretty well. It runs my CAD software, HitFilm Express and games work well, as long as it's not the latest high-end graphics stuff, but do not need that. A worthy mention: A SBC(single board computer) called Raspberry Pi (model 3B+) will cost $40 and it is the size of a credit card and can run on a battery. And it can do most of the basic things you need (under Linux) Open Office , Blender and even some Video editing software. But all of it is freeware and it's got .... (drums) ..... GPIO ! General Input/Output Pins. You can attach electronics, like sensors or servos and you can learn to write simple programs to control a small robot, for instance. Depends what your looking for, if you want decent performance in games then get the aspire 5, or shell out a bit more for something like the Acer nitro 5. But if you don't want to play many games, you should probably get the laptop in this video
I have the Asus Vivobook S510UN, it's very similar, but has a 256gb SSD with an NVIDIA MX150 GPU. It was only $150 more, and you get better everything.
I bought the base model about a month ago after slapping a 250gb SSD and another 8gb of RAM and upgrading to Windows 10 Pro I am not disappointed at all. Only thing its missing is a back-lit keyboard.
yeah a lot of the cheaper ones are like dual core or whatever..and some newer ones low models are still dual core with some being 4 core and those cost a lot more...not to mention the 6 core or more just while the throttling was partially fixed it still does throttle after an hour or two of use...for the i9 version the i7 version can last longer..but for a professional workstation...its complete garbage. Especially for the price. Slightly better stability with adobe over windows yet a lot of people still use windows machines and it works just the same pretty much.
Bought it the other day, highly recommend buying an ssd with the purchase of this laptop! The difference between booting from the hdd and ssd is night and day.
Looks good for the money you pay. And by the way, if someone is looking for a nice, but not too expensive laptop, I just picked up Lenovo Ideapad 520 few days ago. It comes with i5 7200U, Geforce 940MX (4GB version), 8GB of RAM, 1TB HDD (or SSD in some version), 15.6 full HD screen, metal body, backlit keyboard and fingerprint scanner. I picked it up for around 550$, and for the money I really think it is a great choice, and I'm really satisfied with it for now.
people complaining about it having integrated graphics lol. mx 150 barely out preforms intels integrated and most of those are locked at 4gb of ram and a 1tb hdd if youre lucky for more than that XD
Eara Soulous XD YOURE DUMB, try to reasearch about mx150 first lmao. the mx150 is some cases is better than gtx 950m or sometimes par with it. the integrated is like 1/3 of the mx150 performance
nah really..but at that price its not worth it. Just save up for something nicer instead of wasting money on cheap items. Is it so difficult you cant wait a bit to buy something a bit nicer to do what you want it to do?
Lets face it, we really need more lightweight portable and cheap laptops with decent graphics, and this fits all but the graphics department. Unfortunately there is nothing for 600 with a mx150 other than the aspire 5, but still that one is a bit too heavy for me.
In all honesty, I had a pretty bad experience with this laptop. I bought it in early 2019 and it only lasted me 3-4 weeks before I ended up holding it while squeezing the bezel, which cracked right away and broke the screen. Luckily, they gave me my money back, and I built a custom pc that I enjoy a lot
Edmund Ng I'm really not sure, I mostly edit videos. The only games that I play on it are World of Warships and Asphalt 8. It runs everything super fast and has never frozen up on me. My main complaint with it is that mine has gotten some scratches pretty fast. But I guess that just means that you need to be careful!
It's too bad that Apple doesn't give people the option to upgrade/replace components. The last time I had a laptop was years before 2010, and I had a Dell Inspiron 3000. It wasn't really the best back then but I've had so many things breaking on it which I had fixed/replaced via the warranty from Dell which was expensive. I think through the course of that laptop, I've had the motherboard replaced once or twice, the screen replaced, keyboard replaced, etc. I presume most laptops (even from Dell) are better quality these days?
I've got the 2018 Vivobook S14, and it's basically the same laptop. (The S14 has a backlit keyboard too) Totally agree with Austin. This laptop is a great value for money!
Or, if you don't want to have to reinstall windows, you can use intel's rapid storage technology to use that 40 dollar SSD as cache for your hard drive. Works pretty well and you don't have to go through the trouble running out of storage on your windows drive.
I bought this laptop before the video was uploaded, and I HAVE to say that I agree with everything that Austin said, As well as the SSD. UPGRADE IF YOU BUY IT!!!! Best for School purposes, software development (I am a little programmer myself), etc. It boasts 8GB of DDR4 SODIMM RAM, a relatively fast HDD, just an overall bang for the buck.
Can it run Austin Evans? Hey Asus Vivo , This is guys , today were reviewing the best Amazon on Austin Me - Austin: Nice video and we have the same birthday on August 22 (aim onn drugz) pls
If u want to get better battery life with it u can download intel extreme tuner and drop the core voltage by 0.02. it will give u about 1 hour extra life. lowering the voltage reduces power use by the cpu plus should lower the thermals enough so that the fan is off most of the time. ohh and after the ssd upgrade go into power control and have the hdd turn off after 5 minutes of none being used.
Hi Austin, I have been your fan and subscriber for a long time, can you tell me is the HP ZBOOK Studio G5 is worth the money or not? I use it for professional use so I really need a strong workstation. Thank you in advance.
free laptops in my college, i3 6100u, 6gb ram, 250gb ssd, ips 1080p. You can also get a few free windows 10, office keys etc. They will even give students 8gb and 16gb usb sticks as we need a second backup source for our work. You return the laptop when your course ends (of course)
At $750-$800 is when you will start to run into laptops with the i5 8300H and a nvidia 1050 which is where you will see a massive performance increase over the 8250u in this.
Why, I'm sure for it I could run on this easily you don't need someone to test it. Just look at the specs of the laptop and then compare those with the minimum spec requirements for the game
Hey Austin, I really like your reviews, but I need your help to make the correct decision. Should I buy this laptop or another one at the same price point but instead of a core i5 it has a ryzen 5 2400u? I need it for medium video editing, playing dragon Ball figterz, and all the basic stuff, what would you recommend? Thanks for reading, I like your content a lot :)
Great video Austin. Can you add a link where we can buy the additional memory? How about a 256 GB SSD, is there one available for this model? Thanks man.
Why is everyone praising this i7-8550u? Not only you can't overclock it yourself, but it also ends up throttling after working about 5 minutes with its max capacity - only cause it's a U processor that's designed to save energy, not give a user maximum performance.
Wow, a review of a laptop that people actually buy. Thanks Austin! I was just looking at this laptop over the weekend. Decided to buy its big brother, the Vivobook Pro 17.
I just bought pre built gaming pc for 1000€ It had: I5 8400 1070ti 8 gb 240gb ssd 8 gb ram I know 16 gb ram is really important but had to buy just for the graphics card Was it worth?
In order for a company to sell that set up for 1000 Euro, they must have cut corners somewhere. Probably put in a low quality motherboard, power supply, and cooling system..
Hello There! Really nice quality editing, and good info video too! I'm just wondering what's your experience on editing 180p videos with this GPU. Does it lag while previewing, or going backwards and forwards during the editing? And what about rendering 10 minutes video for example? I'm thinking on opting for this machine with an ssd as you adviced, but my concern is the Intel UHD 620 not being capable of taking these tasks properly.
Hey guys this is *exhausting*

Even with the crappy exchange rate we have to deal in Canada, it's still much cheaper to buy most laptops in the US

It's only $20 to ship to Australia so that's weird (and it doesn't sell here either)

Lets face it, we really need more lightweight portable and cheap laptops with decent graphics, and this fits all but the graphics department. Unfortunately there is nothing for 600 with a mx150 other than the aspire 5, but still that one is a bit too heavy for me.
is the cpu worth it? your just talking about the graphics?
In all honesty, I had a pretty bad experience with this laptop. I bought it in early 2019 and it only lasted me 3-4 weeks before I ended up holding it while squeezing the bezel, which cracked right away and broke the screen. Luckily, they gave me my money back, and I built a custom pc that I enjoy a lot
I just got this laptop last month. Love it!
Can you game on it?
Like csgo,rocket league and stuff
Edmund Ng I'm really not sure, I mostly edit videos. The only games that I play on it are World of Warships and Asphalt 8. It runs everything super fast and has never frozen up on me. My main complaint with it is that mine has gotten some scratches pretty fast. But I guess that just means that you need to be careful!
I'm actually deciding to buy either this or Acer aspire 5
Edmund Ng would you mind sharing your experience on editing videos with this laptop? If you could be specific that would be awesome
I've heard it "thermal throttles" can you elaborate or tell us if it does because I saw a UA-cam reviews saying so but I really don't believe it.
Wasnt Ken gonna host and Austin would shoot the video?
One day...
Austin Evans ol
Bought a hp today with AMD 6 9920, 8gb of ram, full hd screen , it's pretty decent for 500 euros right? Not super powerful but enough for me.
“Going to be” count: 21
I've got the 2018 Vivobook S14, and it's basically the same laptop. (The S14 has a backlit keyboard too)
Totally agree with Austin. This laptop is a great value for money!
Abhineet Dey Can it game properly??
The laptop is $550 now...
Oh well I'mma still buy it 😁😁😁
Salty Peanut 62 it’s now $270...
Salty Peanut 62 in walmart
Dann K.M. Emes are you sure about that ?
J .heart17 check it out in the Walmart app
Now it is 200
The ability to upgrade the RAM just won my heart. Definitely picking it up
In India it's for $772
So I got this laptop and upgraded to an ssd I love it I run games on it too. Lmk if you have questions
Tf I have this laptop... And its not that good... I don't recommend it for gaming (but good for work), go for a few hundred more and an Acer nitro 5
Should i get the Acer Nitro 5 on black Friday...??
@@leafleap5588 did you end up getting it?
Is it not even good for light gaming? Minecraft/league on med settings?
Or, if you don't want to have to reinstall windows, you can use intel's rapid storage technology to use that 40 dollar SSD as cache for your hard drive. Works pretty well and you don't have to go through the trouble running out of storage on your windows drive.
Clickbait
The laptop costs $510, not $500
Absolutely shocking
I bought this laptop before the video was uploaded, and I HAVE to say that I agree with everything that Austin said, As well as the SSD. UPGRADE IF YOU BUY IT!!!! Best for School purposes, software development (I am a little programmer myself), etc. It boasts 8GB of DDR4 SODIMM RAM, a relatively fast HDD, just an overall bang for the buck.
Does the M.2 slot support nvme or is it just SATA?
James Russo all m.2 slots are nvme...
Btw dumb question
Um no. Not all m.2s are created equal. Look it up.
Stef tried to sound smart and it backfired. Classic
Btw, it's sata
+Stef4r32k No that is false. M.2 slot can work on PCIE (NVME) or SATA Interfaces.
Just bought the laptop with the ssd, literally had been looking for a latop at $500. Used your links!
Hey austin, this is guys!
I got a brand new surface laptop for £675 would you say this is a good deal
Yo Austin wanna review a 2011 MacBook Pro??
Techniques For Everything ADD a SSD itll be so much faster I have a early 2011 but mine also has 8gbs of ram
I bought this a couple of months ago, and I don't have any qualms with it. Thankfully you did a review with it, and it reaffirms my purchase.
Can it run Austin Evans?
Hey Asus Vivo , This is guys , today were reviewing the best Amazon on Austin
Me - Austin: Nice video and we have the same birthday on August 22
(aim onn drugz)
pls
I used the link in the description and this laptop is $905 CAD....?...?.?
I ain't spending $500 on a laptop with intergrated graphics.
It isn't designed as a main. But ok.
Integrated graphics are still garbage
joe nodden Then you're out of luck. You're gonna need to spend more money for dedicated graphics.
Hamad Alsayed nope you can buy a mx 150 laptop with same CPU and 4gigs of ram and 1 tb hdd for 500$-570$
Hamad Alsayed oh boy are you dumb.
If u want to get better battery life with it u can download intel extreme tuner and drop the core voltage by 0.02. it will give u about 1 hour extra life. lowering the voltage reduces power use by the cpu plus should lower the thermals enough so that the fan is off most of the time. ohh and after the ssd upgrade go into power control and have the hdd turn off after 5 minutes of none being used.
took me a while to find this but super useful thanks
RAM is so expensive nowadays 🤦♂️, DAMN YOU BITCOIN
Hi Austin, I have been your fan and subscriber for a long time, can you tell me is the HP ZBOOK Studio G5 is worth the money or not? I use it for professional use so I really need a strong workstation. Thank you in advance.
Hey amazon, this is guys
free laptops in my college, i3 6100u, 6gb ram, 250gb ssd, ips 1080p. You can also get a few free windows 10, office keys etc. They will even give students 8gb and 16gb usb sticks as we need a second backup source for our work. You return the laptop when your course ends (of course)
INTEL IS GUD! U SIRES!
At $750-$800 is when you will start to run into laptops with the i5 8300H and a nvidia 1050 which is where you will see a massive performance increase over the 8250u in this.
4 years before. This man lost everything ;(
What’s the difference between the asus vivobook f510qa and the asus vivobook f510ua? Which would be better for editing 4K?
Hey Austin, this is Guys.
SARJ_STONE wow so original not. Get a life and stop with this annoying comments.
captainrobots sorraaaaaayyyyyy
SARJ_STONE No
Hey Austin! Is this still the best budget video editing laptop still in 2019? Or should I look at another option now in 2019
watch linus tech tips video on that ryzen lenovo laptop
@@modco9421 on it!
Can you try Fortnite on the laptop please...
Yucy42 no
Why, I'm sure for it I could run on this easily you don't need someone to test it. Just look at the specs of the laptop and then compare those with the minimum spec requirements for the game
It can run it. I have pretty much this exact laptop but this seems to be an updated version. I play Dota and Fortnite all the time on it.
Fortnite kid
thanks
Hey Austin, I really like your reviews, but I need your help to make the correct decision. Should I buy this laptop or another one at the same price point but instead of a core i5 it has a ryzen 5 2400u? I need it for medium video editing, playing dragon Ball figterz, and all the basic stuff, what would you recommend? Thanks for reading, I like your content a lot :)
Clicked so faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast
SlimEnder 124 hey
Hi Austin, I know it’s 2019, but would you still recommend this laptop for someone with a $500 budget. This will be my first laptop
What a cheap video! Clearly going to the cash grab content instead of quality.
Great video Austin. Can you add a link where we can buy the additional memory? How about a 256 GB SSD, is there one available for this model? Thanks man.
Why don't you try Asus vivobook S15 .It has a dedicated graphics card as well.
Thanks Austin. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get this. Anybody else have some opinions on this?
Why is everyone praising this i7-8550u? Not only you can't overclock it yourself, but it also ends up throttling after working about 5 minutes with its max capacity - only cause it's a U processor that's designed to save energy, not give a user maximum performance.
Wow, a review of a laptop that people actually buy. Thanks Austin! I was just looking at this laptop over the weekend. Decided to buy its big brother, the Vivobook Pro 17.
Can this play games as well as a basic ps4? I have one and would like a desktop/keyboard and mouse setup without having to pay thousands.
Seeing as this isn't meant to be a gaming PC, probably not.
I just bought pre built gaming pc for 1000€
It had:
I5 8400
1070ti 8 gb
240gb ssd
8 gb ram
I know 16 gb ram is really important but had to buy just for the graphics card
Was it worth?
TacoSauce16 no
In order for a company to sell that set up for 1000 Euro, they must have cut corners somewhere.
This sounded just what I needed but I looked it up and it's £650 in the UK. How is that fair? I'll have to keep hunting...
