Oskar is a bad person, but he had some hilarious and redeeming moments. Also SPOILERS!!!!!!!! It is confirmed that by the end of the show, Suzie did divorce Oskar.
That was his whole character dynamic: a freeloading bum. He married Susie so he could stay in the United States and because he has no formal education it would be very hard for him to get a job anyway so he doesn't even bother trying.
But unlike Oscar, Bob has some small saving graces. He tried to cheer up his oldest daughter by giving her gifts after she thought she got some bad grades and he bonded with Helga even though he accidentally took her to a play instead of a Wrestling event. Those were the only times where he did care about his family.
@afrikasmith1049 That's true, but those are only a few instances where he did showed he cared for Helga, even during a Thanksgiving episode where he and the rest all thought Helga went missing and they were preparing to find her, even Bob dressing up in a military uniform to search for his daughter Helga, but that's it and after that, he right away goes back to his old self and neglects Helga, even during the Jungle movie. After the movie, it just shows he's always going to neglect Helga no matter what. Bob is still my least favorite character, though.
I think the difference is Bob Pataki is seen as an asshole by others and is entertaining in his role of an angry ambitious asshole character who often gets his karma. Oskar however is loved by friends and Suzie despite not deserving it and not giving a shit about any of them but himself and is always whiney and never truly gets punished by the narrative for it except an occasional gag. One is an entertaining antagonist, the other is a leech
@benlhyenethehyena9947 you're right, Bob gets karma-ed quite a few times and his life isn't perfect. His wife barely cares about anything and they've both made messes of their kids. Oskar is just terrible and never suffers for it. Like, even in episodes where you think he's made some progress, like the reading one and the one with his nephew, he's right back to being terrible again and never gets punished for it.
It’s a brilliant manipulation tactic. Make the person you’ve been mooching off of for years think you’re doing them a favor by letting them keep the money.
I just called up a p*rn shop and asked if they had a video of Oscar and Susie doing it while Oscar screams at her to keep the money and she screams cuz she's having a good ol time. They hung up. Rude moe foes
For real, though, I've been watching Hey Arnold on paramount lately, and I just watched this episode where Oskar and Susie were watching a baby for a few days, I felt like reaching my hands on the computer and strangling Oskar so bad for being a selfish ass who acted more immature than the baby.
It like Looking at Patty as she not a bad kid she just got fed up and annoyed with Helga screwing things up for her both Unintended and unknowingly as sometimes we get fed up or angry that people are stepping on are bad side and sometimes we can act on are feelings and emotions even know it can be justified
Oscar had some good moments like when he went above and beyond to take care of a baby that wasn't his and he actually learned how to read even after being exposed for faking it the first time. But besides that he is indeed one of the laziest characters. But I imagine he definitely would not survive in the 2020s if you ask me. He would get eaten alive.
Hey Arnold! Was my favorite show as a kid because he was raised by his grandparents and so was I. How he ended up with them is a lot more heartfelt then my story but it was nice to see it portrayed as normal.
Well she does leave him. They made another Hey Arnold movie back in 2017 that had a 2 year time skip. Between those 2 years, Susie divorced Oskar and left the boarding house
Give the poor man a break. He learned a new language (without cheating) worked with an injured back and still managed to take a lady dancing.. He felt bad because he had to watch his wife sleep in a puddle on the floor.. The man is a hero
Well, I can honestly say one thing on the Oscar and Susie situation. At least Oscar wasn't physically abusive or a cheating person, because that's normally how the relationships are when a woman who is basically doing everything. Not saying that absolves him of everything has done, but he has done things to show he wasn't a bad person and was trying. Like the time he ran through traffic to get his nephew "Baby Oscar" to the hospital or the time he picked up a cat during the reading episode. Though I can also say Suzie, being the saint she is, deserved better and this is even more relevant when you realize how many "Suzies" there are in the world that are involved with an "Oscar".
To me on the day she finally left Oscar; She gave Ernie and Mr Hyunh a hug goodbye and told Arnold “If you ever need shelter in the future please don’t be afraid to ask” and hugged Arnold. She didn’t even look at Oskar. Afterward Oskar then had to move into the dump room that Rhonda and her family stayed in in “Rhonda goes broke” cause that was all he could afford.
@@johnhein2539 Arnold knew and had a feeling that Oskar wasn't willing to do his own job and was just using Arnold to do the job for him just so he can just be lazy. He first said he couldn't work because he had a stomach flu and the following day he said he had a bad back. His third excuse was that he couldn't work because it was the national holiday of his old country. Arnold wasn't having any of it and had to just tell the truth about Oskar for what he really is. Sometimes one has to be offensive (and offend you) to point out the fact. Facts matter, whether they offend you or not. They speak the truth about you and what we see in our world. They don't care about your feelings.
As much as he was an annoying manchild who never wanted to do any work in his life. Along with an addicted gambler, even hanging out with the wrong crowd. Not a very great husband. Despite him being completely lazy at least he didn’t go as far to cheat on his wife unlike Doug the episode where Olga thought she met the man she loved. But it turned out. He was nothing but a con artist manipulating her and well Helga was the one that saw right through him
Oscar is like any other dead beat that lives in my town. I see people stay home 7 days a week looking like they never go anywhere. And they look no older than him.
I can’t imagine why the audience finds Oskar is a pain in the ass and a prick, just like Patrick Star after his character derailment (AKA flanderization).
I’m surprised how much this cartoon character is getting all the attention recently because this type of person in reality wouldn’t last long in today’s society. 😂 He’s the type of guy that no dude ever wants to be and no girl wants to be with, yeah we have our lazy days but it’s not all the time.
And according to the producers, Suzie divorced Oskar before the Jungle Movie
I like that this show included characters that were actually real to life. Not everyone has parents, or family that loves them, or sucess
Oskar is a bad person, but he had some hilarious and redeeming moments.
Also SPOILERS!!!!!!!!
It is confirmed that by the end of the show, Suzie did divorce Oskar.
Love that for her
I so wish she made an appearance in The Jungle Movie where we got to see her happy.
@@Stefan-ji2ek Yeah I wanted her to appear too.
Should’ve done it at the start of the show. 😂
Wait she did? Thats news to me
That was his whole character dynamic: a freeloading bum. He married Susie so he could stay in the United States and because he has no formal education it would be very hard for him to get a job anyway so he doesn't even bother trying.
Everyone: Oskar is a horrible character in every way.
Bob Pataki: Hold my beepers!

@@chumon1992 Exactly !!!
Oscar was the anti-hardworking immigrant. First I ever saw.
I always found him funny as a kid but he would be a pain to have in your life.
I'm almost positive he was supposed to be Jewish lol
"You keep da money"
"You keep DA MONey!"
"Oh Oskar!"
It’s a brilliant manipulation tactic. Make the person you’ve been mooching off of for years think you’re doing them a favor by letting them keep the money.

I can even imagine a badly aged meme with this crude and dull phrase.
Whenever i asked my nephew what he wants to eat, he would do the accent and say " Suzy, make me a sandwhich "
😂😂😂😂😂

Always loved that one episode with Susie and Miriam. They needed that vacation at Carlos Dance Class. Kindred spirits.

Your take is 100% accurate and hes written that way on purpose, like you said yo teach a lesson. Dont marry an Oskar, and dont be and Oskar.
Well she does leave him. They made another Hey Arnold movie back in 2017 that had a 2 year time skip. Between those 2 years, Susie divorced Oskar and left the boarding house
If it wasn't for Susie he would be on the street.
Probably as a CD. Shaved head, wig, high heels, lipstick, sore throat, the usual. 🧕
Give the poor man a break. He learned a new language (without cheating) worked with an injured back and still managed to take a lady dancing.. He felt bad because he had to watch his wife sleep in a puddle on the floor.. The man is a hero
In the Jungle movie she was nowhere to be found. My guess she did the right thing and dumped his sorry butt.
"Suzie, make me a sandwich!"
Make your own sandwich!!

At least she eventually left. She is confirmed gone in the jungle movie.
I don't know why Suzy would stay with Oskar if he is not doing anything to support the marriage.
Arnold called Oskar a “huge loser” in Oskar Gets a Job.
That stayed with me. You know Arnold FELT that, and voiced it. And I've had that too with people.

There’s bums then there’s Oscar bums. I will say one good thing about Oscar. He was faithful😂
cause who else but suzie would put up with that bum??
I work in retail, a lot of couples come in weekly even some daily.. Oscar is no worse than 90% of those assholes
Tell me what are you talking about.

The adults on Hey Arnold were all pretty horrible! Love your content.
He did get a job on a paper route, but he didn’t change much as a person.
So if you want a spoiler

She does finally leave him (she just doesn't appear in the movie)
Yea he was a pos but I loved him on the show he just made it better tbh I loved all these characters without Oscar it wouldn’t be as good
That’s how most guys act like is Oscar lol 😂
There are alot of Oscar's out there just like this guy 😂
Yeah but Oskar was hilarious
I hated oscar for the same reasons lol
I don't like Oskar i always find him Annoying
I can’t imagine why the audience finds Oskar is a pain in the ass and a prick, just like Patrick Star after his character derailment (AKA flanderization).
His laugh annoys me when I was only a toddler
HEH-HEH-HEH! 💀
