Enjoyed the video. You should put all of the results in a excel spreadsheet so we can see all of the cards results together. 👍

You right. Maybe sounds weak but I started using Open Office after 10 years ... must learn everything from zero again :-)

Great collection as always! It's amazing how common the 9700 Pro is found not working. Probably the biggest reason they're hard to find now.

Reason - burned rams If you watched both Hercules R9500 heatsinks with different colour. Without any cooling is faster way to cemetary.

RETRO Hardware Hmm maybe I should consider getting RAM sinks for mine. I have a reference model 9700 Pro but I'm scared every time I put it in that it will die. Haha

If you using few hours in open room, no drama about this :-) Baking can help about artefacts but I'am not fan of this "repair" method.

Just found you channel, keep sharing man. My first card ever was the 9800pro and it was a beast in its time, even with that tiny stock cooler it had. But I always wanted that 9800xt, those were the days :)

Nejvíce mě zaujal ten Radeon 9800PRO ve verzi IceQ. Slyšel jsem i o verzi která má 512 nebo 1Gb paměti. Opět skvělé video. Like ;)

Existovala profi verze pro armadu nebo neco takoveho, hledej simFusion 6000q. To je, ale da se rict quad grafika, ne jedna s tak velkou pameti.

I had turn my 9500pro to 9700pro. I was using it with the arctic cooler used by the 9800 in the video (and OCZ ramsink).. Good old days :)

i'm still using my 9550 in an old dell. just last week i bought a 2.6 ghz northwood p4 to upgrade from a 1.6 ghz willamette. i think the 2.6 was the fastest i can get with the 400 mhz fsb. and now i'll play grandia ii.

    Great work as always!
Bad time when you discover damage GPUs.
Radeon 9700 or 9800 are not too common to find. In my opinion the main problem are their heatsink!
Lots of them are only with ball bearing fan and tiny surface.
If I were you, I would use custom heatsink to improve temperatures and endurance.
    See you soon
    Claudio

9:28 - I had a card that was almost like this one! My card was a Radeon 9800PRO 128MB from MSI (as came printed in the original box). The card looked almost the same, the difference I can see is that white connector near the VGA connector (MSI card didn't have that white connector there) and the green logo in the FAN (MSI used the MSI logo), the rest of the card was exactly identical (as long as I remember).
My MSI card was only shown as "Radeon 9800 PRO 128MB" in Windows XP if I installed the drivers that came in the CD or the drivers downloaded from MSI website. If I installed the drivers from ATi website, then the card appeared as "Radeon 9800 XT 128MB" in Windows XP. The clocks were the same as any standard 9800 PRO as long I remember.

Huh. That 9800 XXL, probably explains why it was possible to bios-mod the 9800 Pro's at the time into a pseudo... 128MB "XT". I also remember how even at the original 9800 Pro clocks, the bios mod seemed to grant some better IPC or something, because benchmarking and the like still showed an increase with it on "stock pro" clocks.
That said, it's a shame about one thing... that same one I was able to successfully mod was summarily killed by Doom 3. As in, not even flashing back to stock helped it recover, and it would die. Which then had me go through a trial and tribulation with then-ATI... *six RMA's later*, still not having a stable Radeon, and still having worse performance in Half Life 2 compared to a reference system that had a slower CPU and less RAM than I did. And the final card they did send me would promptly die within a week after the "refurbished warranty" elapsed, too.
Needless to say, Radeon was a curse word in my home after that. Even more when I then broke down and had to try and buy an HD 3650 AGP to help an AGP system afterwards, and how the stock driver refused to recognize it. And how "AGP hotfix drivers" for such cards stopped well before the last Windows XP driver for Radeon cards in general.
Was trying to rebuild a socket 939 pc because the OEM system the Opteron 185 was in had died spectacularly. But the only board I could get was an AGP. And the card that was supplied with it was an HD 2600 Pro AGP w/ 512MB of DDR2 vRAM. I have yet to find a driver it will behave with. Full stop.

I had one that was almost exactly like that modded 9800XXL! My card was a Radeon 9800PRO 128MB from MSI (as came printed in the original box, MSI RX-9800PRO-TD128).
I Played a lot of games in that card, CS 1.5/1.6, HL2/CS:Source, DOOM 3, Quake 4, NFS MW, good times... As I got a new PC in 2007/2008 I moved that card to my brother's PC and that 9800 PRO lasted until around 2010.

I have a 9550 radeon, maybe the best for overclock in the history, you can set it to 9600 pro/xt clocks of ram and GPU, aprox 50% more FPS
