The reason this hindi man did with Apu was unfair none italian and even latino complain with Fat Tony or Bumblebee Man Pedro. And for me the real "jumping the shark" was really the 300 espisode we're Bart emancipates.
mine was farewell to mona do it for her maude flanders dies the death of frank grimes maggie shot mr burns and armin tamzarian
homer's last day
If you read this please upload top 20 moments at court The Simpsons
"Do it for her" always made me emotional, but now that I have a baby girl that episode absolutely floors me. I even have the phrase tattooed in my forearm to remind me that indeed I do it for her
I have it printed out and tacked up in my cubicle at work 🥹
same here.
it hits even harder when you go thru what Homer goes through, all thru it all
For me it's always DON'T FORGET. YOU'RE HERE FOREVER.
What am I gonna do, I love mr. Burns.
@@miloseviczarko45 and then there's the countless times Home has quit or was fired and so ends up as the Monorail Driver or Mr Plough or the Garbage Man or the Mayor of Springfield and blows the whole budget on new garbage trucks.
@@andrewmurray1550 But still he ends up going back to Mr. Burns. So this parole "Don't forget. You're here forever" definitely works.
Speaking about Apu, I agree with Akaash Singh who said on Rogan: "This is the most 3 dimensional supporting character on the entire show. He evolves more than every character on the show. He gets married, loses a business, gains a business, has children, becomes a father, he's "The American Dream" on that show."
Apu's a good dude. Just a shame.
They seem to get mad when there is no representation and mad when there is representation.
The person who made the documentary is a comedian he should know how comedy works he should have watched the episode where apu tries and succeeds to stay in the country
He’s been my favourite character for years, I miss him
I loved Apu. Like every Indian person who came to America that I know, he was peaceful, kind, intelligent, hard working and loved his new country. If Apu is a stereotype then everyone in the Simpsons is.
Despite the controversy behind "The Principal and the Pauper", you can't deny that Martin Sheen gave a decent performance.
If thats corny. Then corn me up.
I used that quote for a compilation of simpsons quotes recently.
He was amazing in that episode!
@Christopher Bingham
"Bart The Murderer" was the first episode that gave you a window into skinners life outside of school.
Sweet Seymore Skinners Baaadasss song was the next episode. That specific episode is going to inform people who do not like Principal and the Pauper.
They don't want the Sweeeet Seymore skinners baaaadasss song to get retconned. Thats why they dont like it.
Underrated episode in my opinion
The episode isn't canon...
Mona dying always leaves me in floods of tears, especially since Homer regretted the last thing that he ever said to her before her untimely passing.
and the fact they brought her back in a dream episode. like leave it be, it was an incredibly sad death and you gotta keep that sadness. but ig it is the simpsons lol they’ll bring everything back nowadays
"Do it for her" is one of my all time favorite moments. Not just the Simpsons, not just any TV show, but basically my life.
Much to my mother's chagrin, I used to watch this show religiously. Then I showed her the episode "Mother Simpson" & she changed her mind for at least half an hour. Ironically, that episode is now 1 hard to rewatch since losing my mom last September.
On the original broadcast for Mother Simpson, Matt Groening specifically requested that FOX affiliates play the end credits straight-through with no edits or breaks. They knew exactly how hard that moment was going to hit with the viewers.
My dad actually guessed Maggie shooting Mr.Burms and we all made fun of him until it came out, he was right 😂
I pegged Maggie from the beginning but nobody ever believed me. I wasn't even old enough to be watching The Simpsons yet.
@@Ducky69247 I believe it was Maggie to because the dog was her friend to and he did a lot of BS and she wanted to do something.
Bringing Maggie up in that possible fugitive list from America's Most Wanted was laughable, until we all understood it wasn't a joke.
How do you know it was her?
@@Ducky69247 me too…the line where Marge is going to bury the gun where “little hands” can’t get to it was the clue
I miss the Golden Age of The Simpsons episodes
Sooooo long ago,I can't remember.😰😰😰😰😰
I was shocked by three other events not listed:
- The DEATH of “Fat Tony”
- Sideshow Bob Marries Selma (then almost kills her)
- The finding remains of Wayland Smithers SR in a water/acid hole.
Homer framing Marge for his DUI. still shocked it made it to air.
6:25 The real speechless moment from Maude's death is that they refused to pay the voice actor more to cover her travel expenses. She wasn't asking for much.
And she was pregnant at that time so she couldn't travel back and fourth
she was also the least-used actress and wasn’t essential to the show, yet she felt like she was a full cast member…funny, none of her costars stood by her and refused to act until she received higher pay: probably because they benefited from her leaving!
Honestly, they could have replaced that voice actress and I doubt anyone would have really noticed.
‘The Simpsons’ is still one of the greatest cartoon shows of all time.
It’s not one of. It’s THE BEST.
Always have always will.
Even after we go I'll still be the best.
Even when the creator passess still the best.
Even controversy couldn't even slow
Down the Simpsons even the PTC.
Well a couple of years ago, I asked my Grandfather if he likes The Simpsons and he shook his head and he said "No good."
@@Theonionofthedisneyjuniorlore no it's not, mostly any Hanna barbera is
How can you only like Apu for his accent? How simple minded do you have to be? I always liked him because he’s kind of a naiv character who has a more distanced look into the American culture and he pointed out the interesting things and some dumber stuff going on and that really made him a highly appreciated character for me 😄
He was the most *normal* caracter on the show
I liked that they took the stereotypes as a base, and gave him actual character growth on top of them. It's actually a good representation of learning about other races as a whole: The first time you see them (whether in a book, a show, real life, or anywhere else), the thing that stands out the most is the different skin colour. That's not racist, it's normal; it's the biggest and most visible difference between the race you just met, and the races you already know, and the human mind is instinctively drawn to things that stand out. (This is also the reason Westerners are famously bad at telling what country Asians are from at a glance, and vice versa.) Some people will just leave it at that, and get stuck on "their skin is a different colour"; that _is_ racist, the difference is just a single trait that's really no more important than, say, their hair or eye colour, and it's really dumb how much people have used it to justify a "they're _different_ " mentality. But for most people, as you get to know them, your subconscious tunes out the most visible differences and starts to pick up on the smaller things. And then you start to actually see who they really are, once you've trained your mind to look. And Apu's development mirrors that, in a surprisingly good representation of how people learn about different races.
(To be fair, everyone also goes through this process for other members of their own race, and for the opposite gender, and for every _other_ "different", it's just that these ones typically happen when you're still a baby or a toddler, so they just get thrown in with all the _other_ unfamiliar things & people you're learning about. It only happens so late for different races because society as a whole isn't mixed, so people can easily go 10, 15, even 20 years before they meet their first new face from another race. And at that point, their mind usually doesn't have the hyper-elasticity it had as an infant, so it can take longer to process the new experience (assuming they even process it at all). The same phenomenon is also the reason your average English speaker won't be able to, e.g., hear the difference between certain Chinese words & phonemes, because they didn't hear them as an infant and as a result, their ears aren't used to discerning them. It's really impressive how _The Simpsons_ managed to model the subconscious, instinctive "internal normalisation" process (for lack of a better term) like that, IMO.)
Most Americans follow the MLK motto “content of character not color of skin”. Unfortunately many on the left side have chosen to REVERSE that. Not only that but that a small number of people which are the exception not the rule and represent them as the rule not the exception.
I never liked that adulterer much.
@@KCKingdomCreateGreatTrekAgain But many on the right still do that as well. Look at congress and the two black men in Tennessee who were edged out of their positions when they stood up for the shooting victims, and the third, a white woman, didn't lose her position.
The only thing that kept me speechless was when homer gave his kidney to his father and at the end he's hugging everyone and he starts feeling Bart's kidney.
Unbelievably dark ending 👍
Maudes death was a shocker
technically, so was Frank Grimes…good old Grimey!
I still remember Who Shot Mr. Burns from when I was a kid. Season finale. Had to wait all summer for it to come back. I pegged Maggie from the beginning but nobody ever believed me.
That ladder scene 🪜👀😭😭💀
What episode was that from?
@@michaeloptv I don't even remember, but it's funny lol.
the part that always kills me with "Mother Simpson" is Homer having that conversation with Marge
"First of all, it wasn't 25 years, it was 27 years, and second she had a damn good reason."
"Which was?"
"I don't know, maybe I was just a horrible son and no mother would want me."
"Oh that's not true"
"Then why did she leave me?"
Hearing Homer's voice break when he looks up at Marge and asks that question brings me to tears every time.
and Maggie Makes 3 had a huge impact on me when I watched it knowing that I was about to become a father. I was working a job I hated to provide for my family, but thinking about my son gave me perspective. I also wear a necklace with my son's name on it as a reminder of who I am working and living for.
#3, Frank Grimes is a case of a regular person going into the world of the Simpsons. Just like him, we probably wouldn’t survive with our sanity intact.
Some good choices. Grimes' death would be #1 for me...cause it's dark as hell and my biases cause it's my fave episode of the show still. I'd add some bits from the movie...such as Bart's you know what in his skateboard montage.
As speechless as I was over Frank Grimes’s death, Homer shouldn't have pushed him that far.
Sorry, but HOMER did NOTHING to Grimes. Everything that happened to Grimes was his own fault. We ALL know someone in our lives (at work or at school) who seem to get by doing the least amount of work or putting in the least effort and, yet, things go pretty okay for them. At the same time, almost none of the rest of us had the same kind of massive hard-luck life that Grimes lived so it's utterly pointless for us to resent those people to the point that we feel a need to get even with them. As an added note, Grimes actually got a big break because he was the subject of a TV show. And THAT was what helped land him the job at the nuclear plant--not all his "hard work."
@@josephwest124 I disagree. I didn't blame him for being frustrated by Homer's idiocy.
Loved Apu, he was the first cartoon character that looked & sounded like someone from my family. He evolved so thoroughly then he vanished, his family or anything remotely resembling. Now Hari Kandabalou is a total heel imo. He made a documentary about his voice, his voice was not Hank Azaria's fault... sure fox could re cast the voice. But now it's just sad. R.I.P. Apu
The only people who complained about Apu forcing his removal were born long after the show aired and have zero right to complain about it.
They never watched the evolution of the character as others in here have already said.
While it's true nobody really reflected on Apu exposing racial stereotypes, nobody only liked him for his funny accent, either. He was a genuinely beloved character for his upbeat attitude even when life struck him hard blows & for frequently being an unexpected voice of reason in the show.
That's what I liked about him. No matter how many times things went wrong,he just carried on with a smile.
Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! After watching 'Who Shot Mr. Burns? (Part One)' episode back in 1995, I wondered what the writers were thinking. The story was very dark, and unlike any other Simpsons episodes I have watched since 1990.
The problem with the guy who has a problem with Apu is that he doesn't care about any of the other stereotypes like the Mexican bee guy groundskeeper Willie the Italian guy who runs the Italian restaurant The Japanese sushi restaurant workers fatTony The problem with the guy who has a problem with Apu is he fails to realize everyone on the Simpsons is a stereotype Marge is the crazy overworked loving overprotective mother Lisa is the forgotten middle child Maggie is the baby cuz they're always has to be a baby Bart is the crazy mischief maker Homer is the dumb crazy accident-prone oaf who loves his family and most of those stereotypes of that particular family I've been going back since black and white TV days look even principal skinner is a stereotype of an educator and a soldier Mr Burns is the evil billionaire another stereotype and another is bleeding gums Murphy He's a stereotype of a jazz man The problem with the guy who has a problem with Apu is he fails to realize that there are much more negatives stereotypes within the cast of The Simpsons and focusing on the one character who is the same race as you and none of the other much more worstly stereotyped characters is kind of messed up don't you think
Hari's a fool. I watched the doc when it came out and all he whined about was cause a white guy was doing the voice and the voice was stereotypical. Hari never really brought up these facts about Apu: He was one of the most eligible bachelors and attracted many of Springfield's women before he got married. He's a Ph.D holder in Comp Sci, owns his own business, and is extremely smart, knowing pi to 40K places. The positives outweigh the negative. Apu was one of the most fleshed out secondary characters in the show.
Also stereotyping isn't necessarily bad, I'm Mexican and Mexican comedy during it's golden era was all about stereotyping ourselves, we know it's just for the fun and that's why we love characters like Speedy Gonzales or Bumblebee Man.
I think they are developing a more thoughtful way to reintroduce Apu. They never really gave him and Sanjay and Manjula etc any sendoff. So. Its a real Judy winslow going on.
Well said.. I heard he only did that documentary to get fame and paid. He didn’t even really watch the Simpson’s like most fans or even passer by. I have a problem with the guy who has problem with Apu.
@@thecunninlynguist I will have say Ali’s intelligence is also a stereotype of Indian Americans.. a positive one, but still a stereotype. Most fans loves Apu. His episodes were great and thought out while still being entertaining.
Perhaps the T-shirt cannons were the writers' way of telling us that Maude's death was canon?
Homer just sitting on the hood of his car after his mother leaves him
Wets my eyes too.
"Do it for her." I remember that to help me get through some hard times.
The Treehouse episode with Homer sells his soul for a doughnut and Flanders turns out to be the devil probably shocked fans.
Two more moments:
-Homer trying to end with himself early in the series
-Krusty (my favourite beside the family, along Ralph, Otto and Hans) being killed in a gruesome way
BTW, love your videos watching for such a long time now😊
The most shocking moment for me was the ending to Rosebud
I used to watch Simpsons movies a lot.. Nice video👍
3:40 So this is the idiot we have to blame for Apu disappearing.
I'm not big on the Simpson's, but these are bloody good picks.

Never thought the Simpsons would break the fourth wall but here we are
Maggie shooting Mr Burns was a complete shocker to me
That animal house reference.😂
I think about Frank Grimes way too often.
7:51 wtf look those homer's eyes XD
"Who Shot Mr Burns Part 1" was the last episode on a DVD I rented. It was years before I finally got answers
The Simpsons meeting The Griffin's from Family Guy, a Crossover we never thought we'd ever see.
When Maggie speaks was a memorable moment for me
Yeah I'm surprised it's not on the list.
"This [episode] is about a community of people who like things just the way they are. Skinner's not really close to these people-you know, he's a minor character-but they get upset when someone comes in and says, 'This is not really the way things are', and they run the messenger out of town on the rail. When the episode aired, lo and behold, a community of people who like things just the way they are got mad. It never seems to have occurred to anyone that this episode is about the people who hate it." - Ken Keeler The Principal and the Pauper's writer.
What he said about Apu is dumb. We don’t watch the simpsons to over analyze a characters like a Harvard student. I loved Apu not because his accent because he was a smart and wholesome character. The simpsons are a white American middle class stereo type.
The Simpsons forever!
I have not seen the moments when Fox leaves Homer on a cliffhanger, the problem with Apu, when Homer undoes the apocalypse, when Homer does it for her, when Maude Flanders dies, or Armin Tamzarian. I recognized some of the characters, like Hank Hill from "King of the Hill" and Bender from "Futurama"! 1:38 - 2:01 This is a great video.
1. It's no wonder why many fans don't consider the episode to be canon.
I wish I had been older and more perceptive when Who Shot Mr Burns was a big deal. I was kinda along for the ride at that point. At 8 years old or whatever.
I don’t care what anybody say…..the simpsons is one of the most greatest if not the greatest cartoons ever.
Agreed It will always have a special place in my heart

The Principal and The Pauper was a big shocker for me.
6:10 I remember the commercials talking about a character that was going to die in the upcoming episode at the time. Me and some kids I sit with at lunch (I was in like middle school at the time) made silly bets on who would die. I remember thinking for a moment, and saying Maude. Everyone looked at me all weird like, "pshh like that's gonna happen."
I saw the episode, realized I won the bet, and was still shocked at what happened
How no one was defending Apu? It was not only his accent! It was his wedding, Adventures with Homer (Kwik E Mart central, Besharps), cultural influence, convinient store jokes. He NEVER was a victim of racist commentary. Every one should love Apu, because he is with the Springfield Comunitty since the beginning! He always was an important person for Homer, Sanjay, Manjula, his kids, bullies and Snake...
the race card is toxic, the scumbag knew that they’d overreact and get him a lot of free press
They need to do a similar list for Futurama.
Notice how all moments, (with one exception) happen in the first 15 seasons.
I miss that time
that's not an accident lol
The Squirt and the Whale season 21 ep 19 I still can't believe the whale ended up dying😭😭

i love that missionary episode
Unpopular opinion but I liked “The Principal and the Pauper” and didn’t have an issue with the episode when I was a kid
I love The Simpsons it’s my favorite show
Only Mr. Burns could get shot and make you smile when you know what really happened!
I'd have switched #2 with #1. Everybody wanted to shoot Mr. Burns, but when somebody actually did it, holy shit!
I haven't been watching The Simpsons for a long time, and been wondering why Ned's wife was missing for a whole time. Didn't knew she was dead after I saw her ghost in some Halloween special, but imo, rather than stating she died in an accident, she got killed by Homer's stupidity.
These moments are what makes And Maggie Makes Three, Mother Simpson and Who Shout Mr Burns top tier episodes. Apu, Maude and Edna deserve better though.

Apu being removed from the show is stupid no matter what excuse you try give to defend it.

I remember that who shot Mr burns had a whole campaign behind it
Love this show!
Well thanks for the morning 😢😒
I sill love how one of the National tabloids wrote an article that Elizabeth Taylor would be voicing Maggie which at the time was a straight up lie until one of the producers heard about the article and thought it would be funny to actually have her voice Maggie.

Tom vs Homer is #1
I think that Ardman Tanzerion is the left speacchless moment in the Simpsons
Real question is did Maggie shoot Mr Burns? 🤔
It was accidental. While Burns fought over Maggie's lollipop, the gun in his shoulder holster slipped out, landed in Maggie's hands and discharged before landing under the car seat where it was found
@@mysticgirl916 or did it 👀 I can’t remember the episode, but Homer let’s it slip that he shot Burns and framed it on “the baby” 🤣
@@mysticgirl916 "You idiot!"
Apu was the best in The Simpsons. Some stupid ass made a video because he felt some type of way. That person doesn’t speak for everyone. They got rid of him because they were afraid of backlash.
What would have happened if Bart, Lisa and Maggie officially had mates during the treehouse of horror special which is taking place in an alternate universe from the main continuity of the show?
God bless everyone here. Have a good day.
God bless you
EVERYONE SINGLE CHARACTER IN THAT SHOW IS AN EXAGGERATED STEREOTYPE! EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
2:48 I didn't see this episode when was new Although I've seen a lot of episodes in the '90s when they were new but sometime later I forget when I did see this episode maybe was on a DVD or just on rerun I'm not sure, but even though I had seen well beyond season 2 up to that point it's still actually got me teary-eyed when Marge reacted to seeing home were just slouched out on the couch like as if he died. But it was so beautiful seeing that it turned out homework actually lived. Classic Simpsons just does it right it was such a well done scene.
The Simpsons are the BEST!
I missed the ending of "Homer's Last Day" the first time it aired. I wasn't going to be home, so I set my VCR to tape it. But I guess my clock was slightly off, because it cut off right after Homer slumped over in his chair. And I was left wondering, did they kill him off?
Maggie grew up with the traits of lisa and bart
Ho-Oh-Oh, THAT Homer - ALWAYS Getting Into Touble. And If YOU’RE One Of The Millions Who Enjoys his Adventures - OR Should I Say ‘Misadventures’, It’s TIME To Show Your Support
as an indian , i really miss apu. f hari kondabolu, he does not speak for us
All because he blocked out the sun.😂
Which one of these moments is the most shocking and should belong in the Treehouse of Horror special?
I think they should have replaced Maude's voice actress and just had an episode where she had her tonsils removed, thus explaining the different voice.
