Wow! Thank you sir for the video. I am going to try this combination today. Got the razor recently, it's time to inaugurate it 😃 As for my channel's name, well I tend to find myself an enthusiast in the old ways of life - from wet shaving to writing with fountain pen, sniffing books with vintage cream pages (and read those), and trying out curry recipes passed down by our ancestors. So I was wondering what to use for naming the channel. Then I thought what is the simplest treat that we can have, and there it was- biscuits. A cup of tea with milk and some small sweet bites of biscuits alongside is probably the simplest yet pleasant treat we can give ourselves. That's why the name is so. My channel is still young. May be soon will come up with some contents on things I love and would like to share with you all. Thank you once again for this shave. Much love and best regards. ❤️
Wonderful flowers, Mrs H. Great vid, as always, Paul. I'm one of those people who like to see you bowl lathering. When I bowl lather, I spend at least 20 minutes doing so because I find it therapeutic and very rewarding. Please keep the flowers and vids coming.
Very nice of you to do a request shave, Paul. And a very good shave it was. We appreciate you doing these shaves. Watching you shave or eat your spicy foods or have a walk about north Wales or putter about the garden while listening to your narration is a great respite for me amidst an otherwise mad world. Cheers.
What a gorgeous display by Mrs. H. A very nice requested shave too. You made the Ming Shi (aka Futur) perform so smoothly. I used a Nacet blade in my Henson mild razor this morning and got a close, almost BBS shave. Face lathered with my Simpson T2 using Tabac. Post-shave was alum, witch hazel, Clubman Whiskey Woods splash, and Nivea balm. A great start to my Wednesday. Enjoy the rest of your week.
Hi Paul, Great flower arrangement by Mrs H again!! Please pass that on to her. 😊. I don't have the ming shi but I have the Q-shave which is probably the same razor just rebranded. I get good Shaves with it. When I need a good no nonsense soap I use Arko. It just does the job really well. The Nacet is one of my favourite blades along with the "A best" and the Vikings sword. I quite like my Parker variant too but I don't really like adjustable razors as I mess about with them too much during the shave! I do love my 6s though but it's not a true adjustable but a great razor I feel for Newbys or the more experienced. I hope you and Mrs H are well mate, Best wishes, Dave.
A friend of mine gave me a Gillette Super 109 that he picked up at a garage sale for next to nothing. The number was ‘T1’, which according to the website, it is a first quarter, 1973. That was a cool gift.
Looks like you had yourself a mighty fine shave Paul. My shave today was Pre-shave: Warm face wash Truefitt Pre-Shave oil Brush: Simpson Trafalgar T3 Razor: Gillette Black Beauty (9) Blade: Gillette Wilkinson Sword Soap: MWF Post-Shave: Cold water rinse Alum Block Williams Acqua Velva AS Splash TOBS Eaton College AS Cream Trumper Astor Cologne
Hi Paul- Great shave; thank you! I really enjoy using the Nacet blades; based on your using them several years ago, I tried them myself and they are basically my number 1 blade! Thank you!! lovely purple and yellow flower combinations by Mrs H; beautiful as always; thank you! Have a great rest of the week. Be safe and be well. See you on Sunday for the weekend shave. All the best, Paul!
What a beautiful display by Mrs H! Good choices for your mid week shave too, per request. My mid week SOTD will be the Gillette Slim Twist with a Nacet blade, Simpson Trafalgar T2 brush, PAA Cube 2.0, PAA Twee soap and aftershave, with some PAA Twee star jelly to finish the shave. Meal of the day will be some Grilled New York Strip Steaks with some sautéed mushrooms, grilled asparagus, corn on the cob and Caesar salad. Have a wonderful day and stay safe!!!!
Morning Paul . Raining here in Ohio. My Futur as I have told is my favorite razor. Rarely go above 3. It is comfortable and efficient. SOTD was the Rockwell 6c on plate 4. Stirling Agar. BBS. Finished with Thayers Lavender and Pinaud Clubman. Have a good hump day all.
Hey Paul! I love it when you do some basic shaves!! It relates to the everyday man. I have that Ming Shi 2000, it is an awesome razor especially for the price! Arko is fantastic as well! I purchased a 12 stick pack! It came out to just over $1 (US) in price!! I am curious as to if you would do one time a disposable razor shave with Barbasol? Many men here in the US use those products each everyday. I use it once in awhile to show myself appreciation for the higher end goods I am blessed to own. Great shave as always! Have a great rest of your week!
Great shave Paul.. Lovely display as always Mrs H thank you. Love the Arko soap nice classic old school scent. Enjoy the rest of your week off mate. Take care both of you and stay safe;-)
Good morning Paul, beautiful flowers, nice shave. These Chinese can copy everything. Arco excellent soap with a scent not everyone likes. I think the performance is unbeatable and for the price twice. Have a great rest of the week and stay safe 🪒
Great shave this morning. Its 5am here and im up having my coffee before work. Funny you used arko. I used it last night for my evening shave. Have mine living in an old vintage old spice shaving mug. Used a Rockwell6c of the 4th plate. finished with aqua velva. Arko always gives a great shave, no matter the razor ive used. Have a great day
Nicely done Sir Paul💈💈 Arko soap is inexpensive, easy to lather, scent is subjective of course but I like it, and it just works perfectly for me. This razor is sold under many names, never used one(original or clone)but they are popular. Another amazing display of color and style from the ever talented Mrs H, thanks. Can't go wrong with Old Spice, just ask your grandfather... SOTD: PAA Cube, Palmolive "Original" shave cream, PAA synth brush, Rockwell 6C razor w/Personna "Med Prep" blade, alum, Thayers witch hazel, Alt Innsbruck "Emulsion" and "Cologne" to finale...Glorious. Great video and commentary, thanks. Have a good rest of the week and thanks to Milly for keeping you honest... Enjoy!
Good morning from Texas, Paul. I was browsing the shaving aisle at my local supermarket the other day. I noticed they started carrying the Van der Hagen Futur clone. $20 USD. I almost bought one, but I talked myself out of it haha. SOTD: Simpson T2, King C Gillette razor, Feather blade 1st use, Mama Bear raspberry soap, Thayers cranberry/orange mist, Nivea Deep aftershave MOTD: Cobb salad, Pan fried pork chops, Wild rice, Steamed carrots
Hello Mr Paul. I have recently have watched you review of the 1960 products from two years ago using the Williams Mug Shaving Soap. I have used only new Williams mug soap for ever other day shaving for around three years now. I did have some tips for the “new” soap. I suggest face lathering straight from the mug. In between lathering wet the face. I normally use a synthetic brush but do also use a boar brush. The thing that makes this soap so hard to use at times is not letting it bloom long enough. Sometimes I let it bloom for 10 to 15 minutes sometimes changing the water to keep it hot. Once the water changes to the creamy white color it is time to start the shave. I do hope this will help you with “modern” Williams Mug Shaving Soap. Thank you for you time.
Great video, as always! Think you could get your hands on a meissner tremonia cream? A friend recently sent me "Dark Limes" and it is by far the best cream I've used. YMMV however, some people find its performance and/or scent underwhelming.
Beautiful flowers Mrs H. That 3 Million Scoville sauce must be good. I was doing spicy easting contests when I was younger, nowadays I get in trouble when I eat anything hotter than a habanero. My SOTD was: Solimo shaving oil, Cambridge Cutthroat synthetic brush, Taylor Of Old Bondstreet Coconut soap, Giesen & Forsthoff Timor open comb razor, Feather blade, alum block & stick, Naissance witch hazel, Clubman Bay Rum and Glysolid skin balm.
Good afternoon Paul! Thank you Mrs. H for the lovely flowers...always enjoy your arrangements! I can smell the Arko from Kansas. It does makes a nice lather. Gillette Nacet are good blades, extremely sharp yet smooth and great longevity. SOTD: Muhle R95 Rocca loaded with a Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellow Sharp Edge blade (6th use). Proraso Red shave soap lathered with a That Darn Rob 26 mm BOSS synthetic brush. Finished with Thayer's AF SF skin toner. Lovely smooth post shave feel. That Sharp Edge blades still cuts like a hot knife through soft butter. Great shave Paul! I have quite a bit of Vintage Shulton Old Spice Aftershave and Cologne (I don't really like the Cologne, but the aftershave is fantastic). I find the modern Old Spice a bit brighter in scent yet lacking the depth and complexity of the original. Both are worth using, but as you say...there is no beating the original. Vintage Biscuits: perhaps he is enjoys those old fashion types of tea biscuits, such as McVities Rich Tea, Hobnob, or Digestive? The modern ones are too much extra stuff and busy. Simple pleasure are best. Take care please!
Hi Paul cracking shave you can't go wrong with Arko shaving soap, the Mingshi is a good razor and P&G old spice is very close to the Stirling spice Soap fragrance an aged bottle the 2 year old bottle of P&G Old spice has got stronger and smells close to Stirling spice I can't comment on PAA cold spice as it is not avaliable in the UK as yet but when it is I will buy it that is for sure great video Paul take care and have a great weekend 😁👍
Love a bit of hot chilli sauce, I make a hot Thai chilli sauce from fresh chilli, coriander, ginger, garlic, vinegar, sugar, salt with a couple other seasonings, it's based on a traditional Thai sauce recipe. Great arrangement from Mrs H. once again.
Nice shave! I'm using my Futur clone today as well, I think mine is a Q-shave but I don't remember lol 😄 SOTD: Futur clone with a Parker blade, Stirling samples of British Leather soap and splash, Yaqi 26mm "Ferrari" brush, and some Nivea Double Action Balm. Have a good rest of the week! Steve
Just bought the Mingshi 2000s black version with stand for 10 quid. Plus 200 blades Classis Treet blades for 3 quid. Gonna last me for years. Got a bowl and a brush with 3 tubes of shaving cream. Never going back to cartridges again. Just a big waste of money. Plus shaving with those especially after a few uses, when its semi clogged is just horrible. The shaves are not close. I tried the wet shave for the first time and it was so close, especially with the Rapira blade. It felt like i sliced off part of the surface of my face, but smooth. Nicked myself just once for a first wet shave. 3 shaves later, and i am fine. Gonna get 100 blades of Feather, just to compare to the Treet and i think when paired to the Mingshi should be a great shave.
Your SOTD inspired me to have an Old Spice themed SOTD with some OS lather cream made in India and P&G aftershave. The cream lathered well and shaved well but unfortunately did not have any hint of OS fragrance. The P&G OS aftershave brought the memories back. SOTD: Boots Botanics Face Scrub, TOBS Aromatherapy Shaving Oil, Old Spice shave lather cream, DE89+Astra, Alum block, Proraso Green Aftershave balm, Old Spice aftershave. MOTD: Home made Scouse
Hi Paul, Arko my favourite soap stick.. and who doesn't love and have fond memories of Old Spice !! I have a copy Futur and despite DE Shaving for 40 years I looked like I'd shaved with a broken bottle!! Must be a poor technique, used to a milder razor as well.. keep smiling ! :)
Just sitting here watching you shave Paul when something caught my eye outside, the leaves are falling from the trees like snow in the sunshine, it looks wonderful. The Ming shi is one of my favourite razors 🪒 I have the silver and the black versions, it would be great if they made a gold version. Loved the vid catcha later mate
yes the only difference between arko and derby is the scent , for me arko is more fresh and derby more sutil, the price of the ming shi and qshave razors is around 12 dollar ( much cheaper than the merkur ) I have 3 of these , the chrome, the black and the silver satin , but the one who made it possible to shave under the nose is the SNMIRN or the river lake , also very cheap but the head is magnetic, so thinner , also ming shi 3000 S is a great razor , regards robert

Good day Paul! Does the Ming Shi 2000s razor stay on the setting you select? I purchased another Merkur Futur Chinese clone razor and it does NOT stay on the setting I choose! As I shave the setting moves on me... Alain Montreal, Canada
there is a person on the net , using a gillette nacet blade for more than 250 shaves now , what is the reason that such a blade con do this amount of shaves , taking into account your experience
My Ming is uneven from 1 side to another the blade ... at every setting. One side is rough than the other at every settings, 3 on one side and 2 on the other side ... maybe not a full settings but slightly different. My Futur is death on everything at whatever settings 1 to 6 ...
I as well have been curious as to how his lordship is doing and what misadventures he has gotten himself into. Absolutely remarkable arrangement Mrs H ❤ 👏. Nice shave this morning Sir Paul 👌 👍 . Good morning Mr Paul

Good day Paul!
Does the Ming Shi 2000s razor stay on the setting you select?
I purchased another Merkur Futur Chinese clone razor and it does NOT stay on the setting I choose! As I shave the setting moves on me...

For a moment there I thought you were going to use the Apollo as a post-shave.
Bet you weren't smiling like that when Milie was burying her claws in your arm. Enjoyed the shave as always.

there is a person on the net , using a gillette nacet blade for more than 250 shaves now , what is the reason that such a blade con do this amount of shaves , taking into account your experience
Good morning Paul!
Went to a Turkish barber near us and i asked if they had any strop paste, they said they didn't know what a strop was, about turn and left.
My Ming is uneven from 1 side to another the blade ... at every setting. One side is rough than the other at every settings, 3 on one side and 2 on the other side ... maybe not a full settings but slightly different.
My Futur is death on everything at whatever settings 1 to 6 ...
It might help if you disassemble the razor and put it all back together.
Bore da Paul. Was wondering how his Lordship is these days. Hopefully he's doing ok during these troubling times. 🏴👍
I as well have been curious as to how his lordship is doing and what misadventures he has gotten himself into.
Absolutely remarkable arrangement Mrs H ❤ 👏.
Nice shave this morning Sir Paul 👌 👍 . Good morning Mr Paul
