Growing up down the road from Tustin Marine Helicopter Base off of Warner Ave, and as kids we use ride our bikes, Schwinn’s, Huffy’s and Derby’s to El Toro Air Base just to watch all the jets landing and taking off. The 60’s and 70’s were a great time to grow up in Orange County😎
@@colintraveller dead serious. This is a literal first for me. The concept of a 2 seater harrier never even crossed my mind. And it's crazy cause I'm big into military aviation, and have been to multiple airshows
Those were my old stomping grounds from 2004-2007. Great videos. I would always see vehicles set up to catch the action on the other side of the fence line.
Well, I was stationed at MCAS Yuma for 2 1/2 years and we had three squatters of Harriers there and I don't remember ever seeing a two seater either. Kind of funky looking kind of cool at the same time.
Gotta hand it too those brits.. This was tech they was playing with in the 1960s, started with the kestrel that then evolved into the harrier ... paved the way for the f35 B, minus our unmatched stealth tech of course 😊
Sorry for the lack of knowledge there, but the Goshawks are British built versions of our own hawk trainers but with modifications for USA use. The harrier too is a development of the Harrier mks 1to9 British designed and built but used by your own marine corps as Harrier ones. The Hornets are of course McDonnell built and very nice too.
@splinter5352 Yes, the Harrier and Hawk are British designed and built. The Goshawk was a US adaptation built for the Navy and the Harrier II was a collaboration between US and UK, I like the beefed up Hawk into the Goshawk and the Harrier is legendary, it was retired from RAF too soon, I'm glad the US Marines still use them.
@@delten-eleven1910 AV-8B was built by McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri. The AV-8B, officially the "Harrier II", is an American redesign and upgrade to the original Hawker Harrier, and the two aircraft are very different. Look up photos of AV-8A vs. AV-8B. Awesome 👌 How many Hard Points are on this Harrier ? Just Wondering what it can Carry Munitions ,Ordinance In Battle ,? Is it used for Air Support ,and Ground Support ?
I was stationed at MCAS Cherry Point. VMA -223 is just getting these two seat Harriers. They used to be part of VMAT-203 the Harrier training squadron. They just deactivated them and the last harrier pilots are going through training but could be graduated from the last time I checked. So these two seaters are going away soon. Sorry folks.
The core engine of the Bristol Pegasus was the Bristol Orpheus which powered the Gnat. Never seen a Harrier but I did see a Kestral at the RR Filton works while going past on the bus. The fin had been patched up so it must have had an accident.
How is energy made today ? Why am I out of energy today ? What is today the world's main energy source ? What are the different types of energy today ?
If the Harrier is a girl I would marry her. Such class and sofisrication. It is just art. So beautiful, who cares about the F35. The Harrier us a bit geavy though, but yiu can nit harry uo nature. It just dies what its best at.
Looks to me that all the tires are under-inflated. You need to have something in the background to give viewers a sense of movement when the jets are slowing down or hovering. Just because you can zoom in on the sticker on the pilots helmet doesn't mean you have to film it that way.
Ex-RN Sea Harrier engineer here - just love that iconic Rolls-Royce Pegasus engine whine. Such a unique noise.
Sadly missed here in Europe. Only Spain and Italy operates these now. But the best harrier display came from the RAF & Royal navy.
A 60 year old British fighter. Sold off before its time. A legend.

I've never in my life seen a 2 seater harrier. That's cool lol
You gotta be joking !!

The word "training" should've given you a hint as to why there are two Harriers.
What year were you born

Wow, initial roll was impressive. These have some balls.
1:1 thrust to weight ratio will do that.
Love that 2 seat configuration - I'll bet those guys love flying that jet!
I launched Harriers off the flight deck for years but never came across one like these, very cool
reminds me of my days as MMCO at VMA-513 on the flight line at MCAS Yuma. Love that Pegasus whine.
Superb photography with gorgious details and background
Glad you liked it!
Love the Harrier… always thought the dual seat versions looked like they suffered from Hydrocephalus.
😂

Excellent British aviation, Harriers and Hawks ,nice, glad to see you boys putting them to good use, enjoy!.
McDonnell Douglas TAV-8Bs & AV-8Bs built in St. Louis. T-45 production was split between Long Beach, St. Louis, Samlesbury and Brough.

What a fantastic machine, to think when that was designed and built amazing... Showed it's worth in the Falklands conflict 😍👍🏻
Nice to see those T-45s back in service. They were grounded for a while. Alot of bitchin' activity!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!
What a day at El Centro!!
The F-35 will NEVER be able to look as good as the AV-8B in VSTOL !!
Looks won't keep you alive in air combat.
