When you keep dying at the same place, the horror leaves and is replaced with anger and frustration.

actually in the case of this game i'm with the guy gettin frustrated. Here it isn't skill its bad AI difficulty scaling; they basically get wall hacks on higher difficulties.

This game is more related to the first Outlast than you think. In Outlast 2, there's a collectible (a document) named "The Old Traveler" and it is this document that is related to Murkoff Corporation and in this document, it basically tells you the entire sense of the story and the explanation of all the events through the game. This document can be found on a dead corpse of a scientist (probably a Murkoff scientist) and the madness that is taking place in Arizona and precisally in Temple Gate is because of one thing and that one thing is explained in that document.

Yeah, but Outlast 2 is not all about constantly running from enemies.Sometimes it's about shitting yourself really hard.Because you're brain is getting overheated by the adrenalin inside you when you're trying to stealth.Because the AI is way more superior then the first one.You litterally have to fucking hide everywhere you think it's possible to crawl in or hide. When i was chased,i just dolphin dived into a fallen barrel and crawled inside it.And when the chapter after the well chase ended to the sleeping room,i barely hided under the table. The fucking guy was spining around me with the flashlight so fucking slow and unpredictable that i fucking sweated the fuck out.It was very intense on harder difficulties. You litteraly have to peek out of everything and calculate every peek with millimeters.FTW.

There are some people here just like me. I'm a big horror movie/TV fan but for some reason horror games (especially ones you can't or hardly fight back) they seem so much scarier when you play and are in the characters shoes a little different from movies and shows. Playing horror games usually gets me too anxious for the next scare which isn't a feeling I particularly like. But I did play a little bit of Outlast 1 when it was free for PS+ members and now because of this video makes me want to go back and finish it and play this new one. I'm very excited to hopefully get into horror games now!

It's not gripping me so far. HOWEVER I do plan to keep at it on Saturday and give it the full chance. I loved the first and Whistleblower and the Silent Protagonist still works on me so Blake is a little bit too talky for me. Doesn't give much credit to the player for figuring out what's going on. Player sees a shed. Blake says "A shed? Maybe I can hide there."
Thanks Blake, really appreciate it :P But yeah, I decided to start on Nightmare difficulty so you die instantly, and Marta is a real charm. She runs faster than anyone and really has range. Frustrating at points for sure. I can't figure out her AI, which is a good thing, but also a bad thing with the whole trial and error you mentioned.

Outlast 2 lived up to my hype, and I'm glad it's not a direct sequel, it wouldn't work, especially in the lore. Also, you'll be surprised, about Miles Upshur and Weylon Park.

I definitely enjoyed the _balls_ out of the first game. While the AI was pretty easy to decipher and counter in pretty much every case (after messing around a lot and learning patterns and such), it _still_ gives me some good tense, startling moments. Totally nailed the setting, and I liked that it forced you to explore a bit more due to the constant need of new batteries, and how quickly their juice was depleted. The game had me totally invested--I _really_ wanted to keep the protagonists safe after seeing what had happened to the many corpses littering the grounds, and the immersion was _unreal_... Like how they would put a hand against a door frame or corner while peeking around, or how they would write notes and add input about the events that unfolded, adding loads more character to them, making them that much more relatable...
When it was still super new, the graphics looked absolutely godlike (to me, lol), and I was so affected by it my first time through. Made me fear the dark for the first time in years! I loved that the only way forward, in some cases, was to head right into the middle of where you _knew_ shit was gonna go down. *Spoilers:* -For example, like in the pitch-black, flooded area, how the staircase that Miles needed to reach in order to advance was in the middle of the room containing a patrolling Chris, as opposed to just allowing him to mosey about the surrounding walls and avoid that whole thing.-
*Still spoilin':* -I found the ending to the core game to be a bit of a letdown, to be honest. I wanted to see Miles escape; see him deliver his camera full of evidence, and to see action taken regarding the asylum and its atrocities. The DLC, however, was a fantastic addition to the already great core game. I loved the fact that the stories coincided, and I was glad to see that at least -_-one-_- of the protagonists could make it out alive. It was wrapped up rather satisfyingly, in my opinion, with Waylon even leaving with Miles' car, lol. I still would have liked to see him recover Miles' camera or something, lol.-
    *Spoilers are over, mates*
I absolutely can't wait to find Outlast 2 on sale sometime (it's very seldom that I'll buy a game at full price). Playing through that after hearing about those _massive_ changes from the first game's formula... Oh Christ, I'm ready for a heart-stoppingly entertaining challenge :3

  • @Zladnyl
    @Zladnyl 4 роки тому +2

The first game and it's DLC were works of art, up there with the original Silent Hill games for me in terms of defining a legendary horror game that will NEVER be beaten in the future, not by a longshot. This second game? It is just like the later Silent Hill games compared to the original Silent Hill games I previously mentioned, Outlast 2 is utter garbage compared to the first game or it's DLC (yes, whistleblower the DLC alone or the first game not counting the DLC could BOTH beat Outlast 2).
The first Outlast game was outstanding, and it didn't rely on the supernatural, or much to do with cults or religion. The Walrider was NOT supernatural but it did fill that void for those who like the typical supernatural route most horror games take, it appeared that way but in reality was an advanced and fucked up experiment gone wrong (keep in mind it was ALL REAL), it was comprised of nanobots controlled by Billy. Although there was Father Martin and his group, their actions never truly did anything supernatural or achieved something of similar nature, it all boiled down to them helping the protagonist as individuals because they THOUGHT they and/or he would achieve something supernatural or something involving the Walrider.
The second Outlast game, was shit, because everything boiled down to supernatural, fever dreamish stuff, flashbacks, and experiments from Murkoff that messed with people's heads. Lots of the stuff can't be pinned down as what was real and what was fake given some of it was due to the experiments and some of it could have been real, who knows, because if a sequel or DLC for Outlast 2 in the same vein as Whistleblower was connected to the first game were ever made then lots of the stuff in Outlast 2 could be anything the devs want it to be or it could be retconned.
The first game was superior because it was claustrophobic at times, you felt trapped, there were more unique methods involved with escaping or getting past particular areas or threats (including the people that were after you with some of them having interesting unique behaviors you had to work around), and most of all, it felt like all that you did in the course of the game had PURPOSE.
The second game feels nothing like that, given it was more of an accident and the helicopter the protagonists were traveling in crashed, meanwhile apparently we are to accept the fact that MOST of it was comprised of flashbacks, fever dreamish bullshit, or hallucinations and other similar factors caused by experimentation. Our character having a camera did little to nothing in terms of the story although we could use the mechanic to our advantage same as before, but there was little closure and it didn't feel like our character won.
Even the original base game of the first Outlast felt like closure even if our character DIED because he not only succeeded in stopping and killing Billy, he revived as the NEW Walrider, got revenge on his killers, and then by the time the DLC arrived he saved the DLC's protagonist, gave him the push he needed to leave the asylum despite his injuries, and the vehicle we brought in the original base game was used by the DLC's protagonist to escape so it all had PURPOSE.

Amazing game, Great atmosphere, Characters and gameplay. I am deeply into horror games and this one honestly is one of my favorites. Definitely surpasses its predecessor. Only problem I had with the game was the crazy witch chick lol I still haven't beaten it yet but the game delivers some solid jump scares and a lot of terrifying moments. Especially when your pursued by more than 1 enemy which happens frequently. The tension is amped up by the huge areas you encounter, They say it's like trial and error but it's quite realistic there's one way to get where you need to go and it's up to you to sneak past your enemies and find that way. It gets frustrating not knowing what to do when your being chased and only thought is get the hell outta dodge. Highly recommend and a lil tip ( when you are being chased run around an object or wooden fences and vault over it, sometimes the AI gets stuck, always shut the door behind you too)

There are so much questions needing to be answered and we are left to only theorize, and it lacks the resolve we get from outlast 1's ending...which I thought was fantastic...outlast 2 does not have that same pizzazz.

+DylanS If you think that 'DLC' justifies anything than you're sadly mistaken. It's a cheap move on their part if they make you buy DLC just to understand the basic story line...Outlast 1 didn't need DLC to be deciphered, and even with the DLC, only minor details were uncovered...again, not the primary storyline. GTFO...

Power Michael I haven't finished the game yet but I need to know: does Blake suffer Miles' fate and get killed or does he survive like Waylon?

I'll be vague, Blake dies, but do note that death is not limited to the loss of life, but also the loss of personality...sanity...etc...so he dies, but I will not clarify whether he loses his life, or whatever else :).

N1GHTMRE GAMING You can tell he doesnt from the beginning. When you watch in game recordings he talks over them in past tense and goes in detail about the situations so hes pretty much telling it as a story.

here's a quick tip for anyone who's bad with horror. watch a bunch of not well thought out horror movies. it really embeds the idea that you're going to be fine. kind of overwrites the instinct of irrational fear. the movies need to have decent visuals or you'll end up not taking it seriously.

Man I won't forget it, I was creeping through a small village type area and I was going into the cabins on the side for cover and batteries of course. I'm not sure if scripted, but I entered one cabin through a window, snagged a battery and went to open the door to the main living room. The guy who lives there was waiting at the door, staring at it, and staring at me when I opened it. I jumped out of my seat as he stabbed me in the face with a machete

The only thing I wish they added was some tiny hint or clue that might give some closure as to the aftermath of the first game's ending.

hey guys. I just got this game yesterday and played it a bit today but I really see how this game can be frustrating. usually in horror games, you always are faster than the monster, andnif not, you can at least hide. but that I not how I've seen this game so far. the first "monster" is crazy fast, and always knows where you are so you can't hide or run, it was really frustrating to evade the she beast, but after quite a few tried I was able to lure it around a shack when the bolting towords the next building.

David Cleveland the game is overall a great concept but Ubisoft just drags it down, I must say I'm kinda impressed by the campaign, if you don't mind laggy servers this game is fun
