I have a tip for you Jessica! I was out of tomato paste too. So, I filled my 4 freeze dryer trays with my homemade canned sauce, to rehydrate- just add back a smaller amount of water after powdering your tomatoes! Works like a charm. Now I can make paste, sauce, juice, etc. most of my harvest will be freeze dried and powdered. It saves on jars and space. 🍅
Great idea!
Wow! What a fantastic idea!! Thanks for sharing!
IMHO, you don’t have to justify anything you’re doing in your loving home.
I love how the young man always says grace before eating
You are amazing and I think it's pretty clear what will happen to our society without children being raised this way.
Good morning Jessica. Last Sunday, my sons decided that we needed to inventory the freezer for meal planning. Today we are making pad Thai in the crockpot. I'll cook a pot of rice (in the oven, because it doesn't burn to the pan if you forget to stir it), cherry cobbler (last summer's harvest) and green beans to make a meal. I'm heading out to harvest fresh mint to make iced tea for the kids for lunch. I grew up on sweet tea, but when my sons were younger, I tried to reduce their sugar intake. I discovered that adding fresh mint to the tea made it more palatable without adding any sugar. If I get it steeping now, it will be cool enough to refrigerate when I return from church, and I'll make a second batch for the remainder of the afternoon. I've started to harvest and dry my herbs as they are growing like weeds at the moment. I haven't yet planted a garden (school ended on Friday, and this teaching mama has been out of steam for months!) but that is on the agenda this week. I discovered a huge stockpile of ground beef in the freezers, so I want to cook some of that and get it pressure canned this week. I know that if it is precooked, I will make crust and cook a pizza for myself after work, but remembering to thaw meat before I leave for work is problematic. It also is of benefit when I've made mashed potatoes, and have extras, because I can throw together a shepherd's pie very quickly, and have a meal that doesn't taste the same as yesterday's meal. I'm grateful you reminded me of making zucchini bread, as I discovered three gallon bags of shredded zucchini in the freezer. I think Joe would really like it if I used his favorite veggie to make him something sweet! Thanks for the inspiration to clear away things that need to be used!
I love your meal prep videos. I'd far rather watch one of your videos than watch one of those fancy cooking channels where they make food with ingredients I never have in the house. You make real food for real families.
I agree! We lived in a very small town in Missouri ( our son’s HS is South Carolina had more students than our little town had population!), and a lot of the unusual ingredients couldn’t even be found at the local grocery stores!
I usually do a pantry challenge in July when I do have more fresh garden options. I love the idea of doing it 2x yearly.
This has been a great video. I have done an audit on my freezers and pantry and I’m amazed at how much food I have sitting there. This June challenge is going to be just what I need. 🇦🇺
Hi where are you from tying to see your flag.
@@wendy3437 I found my Australian flag in the emoji’s.
I’m SO impressed with the energy you have and the meal creativity you have. Although just watching you can sometimes exhaust me 😉🙂💕
Starting off with a bang! I have tiny potatoes left from my garden and will now roast them with my onion tops, dill, and parsley. I was going to make some biscuits for supper with fried fat back and plum jelly and can use the fat for the potatoes. YUM!
You inspire me! Thank you for all your time and effort to make these videos for us! We did the winter pantry challenge and will be attempting to join you this month😊. We make your applesauce bread and pizzas every week ❤. May Yahweh continue to Bless your family! Shalom from NE Indiana❤❤❤
I agree! Smoothies fill my son up. Hes in a few sports and you can add so many nutrients in a smoothie. It seems like people must say something about how much food you give your kids. I hope you know there isn't anything wrong with how y'all do your meals.
Love watching all of it!
Here we go!
Looks great Jessica. Your family is so fun and sweet to see. Thank you for sharing…❤
I love that you track the cost that you save by comparing the cost of what you would spend had you had to purchase what you’re growing. Quick question: do you also track what it costs to grow your gardens? I’m tracking that as well and so far, since the beginning of preparation for my this year’s garden, I have spent what it would cost for a week’s groceries. I’m loving that. Plus, I don’t have pay a gym membership because my “workout” is in the garden, where I prefer to be if I’m not in the kitchen. So there’s that.
Great filling and healthy meals for your family. Loving this pantry challenge.
I love your pantry challenges, always impressed with the meals you serve.
And I hope you have a blessed week also! ❤
Just starting to plant things this year! So excited! ❤
Love watching you and your family! Love pantry challenges❤❤❤
I appreciate you sharing with us.
I love your pantry challenges! All your meals look great. Your garden is so nice. Excited for the rest of challenge. Thank you for sharing!
Great video Jessica, you meals always look so delish 🇨🇦💕
Thanks for sharing your beautiful family along with your great ideas and frugality. Blessings to all.
Thanks for the weekly overview😊
I like the idea you have of tracking your garden abundance each month to see how much money you have saved on store bought groceries. Thanks for the inspiration! 🥕🍅🫛🥒
Hearty meals. Your children seem easy to please.
I love being able to use the grill in the summer months.
Another wonderful video and many wonderful ideas for meals. Thank you and God Bless!
Everything you made looked absolutely delicious! Especially those smoothies and that salmon! We love fresh Swiss chard, it’s soooo good! Love how you have that lovely outdoor kitchen! Much easier to have that grill, I’m sure! Loved seeing your cute cow at the end! Your garden looks amazing as well! Just a lovely family and homestead! I always take notes of your menu plans and use some of your recipes! So helpful!
So inspiring! Beautiful values, great kids who will become responsible and proud adults with all the knowledge you teach them. They are blessed for life. Thanks for sharing all your ideas and meal recipies. Can't wait for next week video .
I love watching your channel. You give so many different ideas on how to create less waste and use everything.
Your vidéos are just fantastic !!!
Thank you thank you +++!!!
Blessings +++!!!
I’ve been watching your videos every Sunday since pretty much you started doing videos, and I’m always pleasantly surprised when I see a new video pop up yay!!
You do a wonderful job feeding your family, I love these types of videos.
great to see u using that outdoor kitchen...
All your recipes looked really good. Nice job.
Happy Sunday! Great video. I think the smoothie meal was my favorite idea. Have a glorious day!
I love your outdoor cooking we are remodeling our kitchen and you give me some great ideas love your channel and your family thank you
Happy kids! Happy Mom!
Those Bosch mixers are so sturdy and great quality! I never grew up with one but my family friend who I consider as a grandmother uses one to churn out huge batches of cookies and other recipes. She's had it for years!
Totally love these videos from you & Farmhouse on Boone. Thanks for sharing a peek into a week of feeding your family!
You amaze me!! You can cook anything. I love watching your videos ❤
Thank you. I can't wait to see what you do with fresh produce during this challenge.
This was so great Jessica. I appreciate you more than you know.
I love watching all your homemade fixings. I would shop up the salads. I got my girls to eat salad very young cause it was in small bits.
I love watching you cook for your beautiful family 💕💘
Your children are soooo cute!! And they seem so helpful and sweet. Loved watching this
Good job! They looked very delicious. Garden looks good.
You seem to have the best little helpers ❤
Another great video!!! THANK YOU ❤
Lots of great meals, thanks for sharing.
Hi Jessica. I really enjoy watching your challenges. It helps me to know what to do with what I have preserved and still have in the pantry. Inventorying sounds like a great place to start. I need to do that in my freezer. Watching you fix breakfast outside looks so fun, my boys would of loved that. Thank you for your videos.
So glad to see this! My Garden is producing big time in 9A already and I need to empty some jars from the pantry so I can refill them!!
I don't remember leaving a note. I have watched 2 others on your challenge. Thank YOU once again.
I am doing this with you , we did the winter one , I think this is a great idea to use up the pantry and freezer before fall starts and have room for all the produce
I can't explain how great your planning videos are. I'm in an urban environment and find it overwhelming to even consider my baby freezer but you give great ideas & I actually based my meal plan layout on yours. Also your calmness is so relaxing!
Another great video. Your kids are lucky to be fed so well. Fresh, nutritious food, and achieving that while using what you have on hand. Thanks for sharing.
Great video
Enjoyed the video ❤ The meals were absolutely amazing 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Thank you for sharing 💓
I love the idea of intentionally using fresh herbs. You have inspired me to challenge myself to do the same.
Grilled is my favorite way to eat salmon. Your recipes all look fantastic and I am going to try several of them. I don’t have chickens so I will have to shop for eggs, but I am trying my hardest not to go the store all month! This is very enjoyable and a great way to see what I need to add to my garden, pantry and freezer to go longer without the grocery store. Thanks so much for doing this!
I literally got out of my bed to watch this video! I am excited to preserve what I get from my garden this year. Maybe I'll be able to do the next pantry challenge. I have three children and a single mother so feeding them can be a struggle sometimes. We've been eating lots of pantry type meals and I went back to baking our bread or making snacks from scratch. Thanks for the video
It's winter now in Australia, love watching all your vlogs.
Your garden journal with market prices is brilliant! Being able to see a quantitative amount of savings is the best motivator.
Good Late Morning (was working in the garden before the sun got too high)! We like pan searing sage for sage chips. Just a touch of an oil or lard and lay the sage leaves out in the pan - a few moments on each side and a bit of seasoning at the end. Then, any remaining oil or lard is seasoned for a meal. My husband's aunt taught me this and I was amazed how simple and good - and I grew up in a family of 10 and we never knew this treat! She took a month long cooking class in a Mediterranean country several years ago while working as an international model.
You are an inspiration, God bless! From Rachel, Eric’s wife❤️
Good morning. Awesome video. The kids are growing up so fast. The pantry challenge will be fun. Yummy pizzas. Its amazing the different varieties of things that you do with the stuff you get from the garden. 💜 God bless everyone.🙏🏻✝️ have a great day. 🌞
Thank you for another great video. One area I still sometimes struggle with is menu planning. So I bought a menu planner notebook. Hope it will help.😊
I love your nutritious creative meal ideas! Val C ❤🙏🏻
Everything looked delicious 😋
Thank You for sharing. I’m old and past all that but just enjoy you all. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💞🙏🥰🤗
Happy Sunday Jessica from OKC. Every week you amaze me and even though my youngest is 20 and the only one home I'm joining the summer challenge as well....❤i recently did a full inventory from deep freezer to cabinets to my dehydrated items. I have a elderly neighbor who didn't have Anything When i saw that it broke my heart and I gathered up everything i could including personal items. I was raised not to let others go hungry and even though my mom is now gone i could Never.. I got my first bread maker and hopefully this week will make my first batch. Tomorrow i will make a detailed list for pantry challenge and me and my husband is Sticking to it like we do with the Jan challenges. Thanks and Much Love from my family to yours ❤️🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
This is a great way to start our Sunday is to see your family growing Thank you 😊
I got a ton of sweet corn from a local farm. I cut it all off the cob and froze it, I was told you couldn’t freeze it on the cob, even if you blanched it. Thanks for sharing now I can try that this year.
I look forward to your weekly videos. Right after church service I make a cup of tea and watch how lovely your family works together. God bless you and your family.
Jessica I mix a jar of my sauce with the paste. It makes the sauce taste so fresh!
I don’t have a lot left to do a pantry challenge but I’ll definitely join you 🤗 I did a lot of freezing last fall. I lost everything in a house fire - just got the canner replaced though so I’m pleased about that. I’m already able to grab my lettuce 👍 Waiting impatiently for my collards 😋. Great video Jess Always look forward to seeing you pop up with a new one ♥️ You’re so natural and you live the way I live 🤗. Basic and simple and nothing fancy but sooooo yummy
Those radishes look 😍 amazing. Love your channel ❤
Looks great! Thanks!
I very much enjoy your videos. After watching last week’s video (preparing for preservation-various methods), I determined that my enjoyment stems from your passion in what you do. Using pickled items on pizza is my favorite, most especially pickled asparagus and Kalamata olives. I whole heartedly agree that smoothies are a satisfying meal as they were my meals 3x/day during some medical procedures on my jaw. I had been concerned about not being satisfied but if you pack nutrient rich ingredients, your stomach will be happy. My favorite combination is beets, avocado, pineapple and dark cherries.
So much fun, thank you for sharing!!
Jessica have you considered the Bosch dishwasher with the built in water softener? You add the softening salt right to it. It might work for you guys and really help cutting down a bit of the work load.
See you next week!!
My dad loved to grill outside especially chicken. Unfortunately he is no longer with us. Thankyou Jessica for a very helpful video.
Still working on my pantry challenge only (who am I kidding, mostly) for this whole year so far. Ran out of pork so added a small amt, and last week had so much food leftover from the generous plate my new neighbors brought to me on Memorial Day even after I froze some. Otherwise so far so good. Tiny garden this year transitioning into hot weather things I don't grow so much. Will be making jam and canning up other things out of the freezer, steadily converting frozen to canned due to our all too frequent public saftey power shutoffs. So far so good there too.
hey sista i applaud you on your challenge im having one myself im fasting as im repainting my kitchen floors and cannot levitate so my kitchenis out of bounds until its dry your raddish harvest looks amazing x
Once again, this made my Sunday! We are getting lots of kale and lettuce from our garden so last night we had a kale and lettuce salad and we put some of our canned pork on top!
Today, i am canning up some chicken, hopefully making some zucchini bread from the garden, my fermenting sauerkraut is probably done and we are starting to waterglass eggs. Takes me alot longer then most folks as I have to sit down quite often.
You're eating well! I also use a few pea leaves in salads & dandelion leaves (just a few). Pea leaves, carrot tops, dandelion leaves can all be added to a homemade greens powder as well.
We love adding nutritional yeast on our pizza! Thanks for you videos ❤😊
Wow, Jessica your patio area looks stunning!
You are kind. After the excavation we aren't allowed to build a permanent patio for a year. Making do with the current setup.
I love to see your children pray before they eat. Such a great video
Thank you for sharing!
Everything looks really delicious, to me.
Jessica you’re doing a great job feeding your large family. People don’t realized food doesn’t need to look perfect to taste great. I cook quite a bit for my family of 5 and and my kids are adults and they don’t care how perfect the food I make looks as long as it tastes good and fills their bellies. God bless you!
What wonderful and nutritious meals!
You keep amazing me with your organizational skills, keeping track of everything, I guess I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum:(( I bake chicken legs and potatoes together in the oven, potatoes on the bottom, legs over it, potatoes release steam and legs fat, so they combine perfectly. And all it take is time to season and put in the oven:))
I love how you simplify your meals and use what’s on hand. We’ve learned to cook meals and substitute items. When I saw your previous video on setting an outdoor kitchen, I told my husband we should do the same! Loved the tent idea also so your children can be in the garden with you. Thanks for all your great ideas. Have a blessed week also!
I love your tea mug!
yummie thanx for sharing have a great night
Everything looks so wonderful. Buckwheat pancakes are my favorite. I take large amounts of grains to a local store and have them ground for a few cents a pound. While I do have a grinder anything more than 10 lbs I take for grinding. I need to make some space for my grinder so I’m not hauling it out and putting it back all the time.
Enjoyed it!
As always my fave you tuber . So encouraging and informative. The salmon greens rice wow. T u for taking time and sharing those precious children. Weve enjoyed lettuce and onions but so are my neighbors Peter Rabbit. My cat Maggie chasing one of 3 this morning. My coffee on kitchen porch with all this action .Just a blessed day in Jesus.
Great way to use your hard work
Ok came back again today to rewatch this , for some ideas , the pesto pizza , I did an inventory list , I have so much quinoa , lentils , I think lots of cool summer salads!
