I agree that this Micra could be a classic soon. I saw an early one recently that had black bumpers, no chrome, and simple steel wheels and I thought that looked so charming.
I still have my 1998 Micra 1.3 GX. My first car bought by me. Currently has 372000 kms and runs pretty well. Being used every day til one year ago. Now, it's driven once a week to take a ride. Wonderful
Great video. Wonderful little cars we had one for 14 years (Muji it was called). A 1.3 CVT automatic. Fantastic car that finally had to be scrapped at 19 years old. Such fun & friendly cars, we miss it still.
I will most likely have my drivers license in 4 months. And I really fell in love with the Micra after looking at multiple affordable 90s and 00s cars!
So did you get one? Hope you did. I am on my second micra and I love it. If you haven't gotten one yet, make sure to get one better equipped. Mine has electric windows, airbags and a rev counter, the previous one did not have either.
@@vulgoalias4050 hi, i havent got one yet, but still willing to buy one. I do have a question tho, im pretty tall (185cm) so will i be able to comfortably fit inside the micra? Thanks for the tips tho!
@@jooojelle9924 I have 175 and can drive it comfortably. Roof won't be an issue, room under the dashboard might be, but it is worth a test drive at least.
How come UA-cam algorithms never sent me here before? I've been watching Mustie1, HubNut, Ageing Wheels, Peter Anderson, Coldwar Motors and more for years - and here is a carguy who is right up my alley, from my own country... even my own island... well, better late than never!
What a great car! Remember taking driving lessons in Micra, back in the late nineties :D. I love the simplicity of cars of that era. I just love driving my Opel Astra F. It has nothing fancy in it. Just a 1.4 liter, 8 valve engine. So simple to work on. Never let me down! :)
i did driving lessons in a k11 last year and then owned it after passing my test, sadly once i passed some dickhead rear ended me whilst on their phone and it was written off :( geniunely gutted as i loved the car (50k miles second owner) and its condition was second to none!
I travelled to Manchester yesterday - we saw three of these on the motorway and those of us in the car agreed these are great unassuming cars that seem to just go on and on........I see loads of these in the UK that are a bit tatty but provide people great reliable basic transport
Fun thing is, this car was probably built not that far from me in the Nissan Sunderland plant... :P As for tales of who owned them, yep, my mum had one back in the 90s, a pre-facelift version (smaller headlights, different tail lights, some trim designs, etc.), also in red, and my sister had a couple too, one facelift model in a bright metallic lime green, which some "mechanic" scammed off her when he said "this won't pass an MOT" citing all kinds of issues that would cost a lot to fix, and bought it off her for £50, and then sold it on for a lot more having passed an MOT, which was a filthy thing for them to do...
Ah of course! I did not think of the sunderland plant when making the video, thats a fun fact! I have heard many similar stories like your sisters... its so cruel..
This exact car was my very first 4 wheeler, and the very car that turned me into a car guy. Sold it off for 150 euros...but it's tempting to buy a new one.
Nice video! Btw you have a 1st generation facelift produced between 1998 and 2000 for the European market. Japan had them sold between 1997 and 2000. They didn’t get the 2nd generation facelift. Cheers
I hired one in Crete and my conclusion was that it was both 100% competent and 100% characterless. I have to find something engaging in a car to enjoy it, but I would agree entirely that one of these would make a good classic car to run.
I just bought myself a 2000 facelift 1.3i 16v, put some alloys from "1000 miglia spider 14" today and wider tires, this car is the best, i dont like these new "smart" ones... im planning to lower it too... but I was very lucky to get it from the 1. owner so the rust condition is very good i think... im getting it checked next week
Hi is the steering heavier now with the alloy wheels on as I'm presuming you don't have power steering only asking as I might buy a k11 1.3 16v but no power steering so I don't want really heavy steering when i put alloys on. Thanks
@@adamrogers2885 it,s not heavier... Its the same, but i do need to check the power steering fluid cause it seems a bit hard if i compare it to 1.0, 97 one

Toyota yaris (xp10) or suzuki swift (rs 213) area good bet for newer cars. The swift is even pretty easy to work on with 4wd. (I did work experience in suzuki dealerships) kia piccanto and the simular hyundai may be good too butwatch out for rust. Peugeot 206 are good to.

Well, if the Velo Solex can become a collectors item then so can anything 😀

Velo Solex is already a collector in France.

No, the airbag light is on for a couple of seconds after engine start. :)
So no more Corolla and Micra. What do you suggest then?
Its getting hard to find anythin interesting after them in my opinion...
Have a 1,4 k11 not england made but in tjeckien.
Have you seen the ”Nissan Micra” music video made by ”vi är mix”
They were built until 2003. In Germany you see them rarely also now.
They are getting rare here as well..
