I'm SO glad I caught this when I did. I was as serious as this video about buying a new Bugatti Chiron. I was going to write the check the next day, but luckily, I watched Ed's vid on YT that night. Erased three zeroes on the check and headed for Nissan! oh, and those safety beams on the outside of the doors has come in real handy! Thanks Ed!
I honestly like the Micra. It really feels like a true small people's car. Newer cars are fat and ugly. This reminds me of the Mini or the old Fiat 500. It's small, practical, simple and just a nice car. This is where car evolution should have stopped. And I really am serious about what I just said. The Micra really is a dream car for me.
I have micra tempest I did have 4.3 Mercedes ml and I prefer my beloved micra sunroof , 20k I kid you not and I promise hand on heart ♥️ love her more than the Merc
I was going to have the Bugatti imported to USA but I cancelled the order and having a Nissan Micra imported instead. We have none of those exotic cars here. :)
A cracking little car in fact. One of those that does everything you expect of it, does nothing badly, and is surprisingly reassuring and satisfying to drive. Makes one realise that there's more to motoring than technical specification.
We had 2 of them. A 1998 model and also a 2001 model called "fresh" with climate control, power windows, power steering, power brakes and 60hp. They where great and reliable.
And those little things are extremely though and reliable, i know few with 400.000Km and still going. Pity Nissan is no longer what it once used to be, Renault killed a great Japanese brand.
You make a convincing argument. You could've given the Micra one more point if you had shown the boot/trunk area and the amount of stuff you can carry when you fold the rear seats down. Can the Bugatti do that? Nope! Also, those black plastic strips on the door panels protect the car from dings and scratches when opening the doors next to other cars in parking lots. They do not provide any sort of crash protection.
The Nissan Micra also has a full size spare wheel inside the under boot area, so no need to get under the vehicle and get dirty to change a flat tyre like in some other bigger and more expensive vehicles.
This Video actually reminds me of Myself. A Person who doesn't think that Showing off or Having a DAMN EXPENSIVE car is Important, when I prefer a Dialy Driver ( Ya know, an Everyday Car ).
I’ve got a 2017 K13 Micra here in Canada. No power options. Love it’s function over form. Although thankfully it has double the hp so you don’t get smeared all over the highway while merging.
Drivers of other more expensive cars and typical car reviewers usually under value the Micra, but those who own one know their true quality, which is great. I agree, the manual already makes it "200% more sporty" than any automatic. Also, contrary to what you might expect, it grips the road well, so you can drive fast, if you want to. Great review!!
I love the refreshing take on reviews and you make good points in your ridiculous way. We had a 1.0 Micra from the 90s. It was a very nice car within its obvious limits but lacked any safety features beyond seatbealts and its life ended when the more modern but very ordinary car in front braked more quickly than the tiny-tyred Micra could and the Micra's grill, light and bonnet all got broken on its rear bumper.
I know that this was a joke, bht i think that Ed is half true at least, because you can have maximum fun in a micra whilst doing the speed limit, and have the most fun on your dull morning journey to work and even in the car park. I doubt any of that happens in anything sportier than a Mazda MX5/Toyota GT86. I really miss my old 2000 Micra 1.0 celebration model 😔
Bought one of these today for 150$ got some rust damage in the usual place in the front, but thats no issue. Same color, but 4door and 1.3 liter engine, mine also got crank Windows so thats one less thing that can break. Fantastic little cars
I'll agree on the reverse light, the car should have two, one in each tail-light assembly. That aside, I need to give you some advice when doing piece-to-camera work while outside. Don't rely on your video camera's microphone to pick up your voice too well on outdoor shots. If your camera has a connection for an external microphone, get one with a good, long lead, or get a wireless micophone where the receiver runs on batteries and connect its(the receiver's) output to your camera's external microphone connection. If your camera *does not* have an external microphone connection(and most cameras don't have such a connection unless they're really expensive up-market models), then use a separate digital voice recorder(which creates a WAV audio file, same as that created by the camera). Start the camera and voice recorder, then give a good, loud clap of your hand, which serves as the synchronising sound for editing. When editing, import the video and the audio files, listen for the clap sound on the video and split just ahead of the clap sound(you'll see a visual representation of the waveform on the audio track under the video track, now mute the video's audio and add the voice recorder's recording to an audio track below that of your video. Listen again for that handclap and split the audio just ahead of that handclap. Unmute the video's audio track, cut the audio recorder's recording to clipboard(Ctrl+X), go to the beginning ov the video and then paste the voice recorder's audio back into place(Ctrl+V), now just nudge the audio from the recorder until the clap sound is in unison(no echo), Then render your clip for use in the final video production(you'll be editing out the handclap sound as ithas served its purpose). Do the initial recording part of this routine as often as needed for each piece-to-camera sequence you need to do.
I almost bought a 2001 Micra back in 2002 - in the 'sport' trim with a 1.2 liter engine. But the car was light and it had 4 disc brakes! And it had a really good chassis so it was actually fun to drive.
5:47 Fuel consumption *should* be measured in *kilometres per Litre!* How many kilomtres the car will travel on one litre of *petrol*. Just as we measured Miles Per Gallon.
My ford focus has 999CC. It also has the optional turbot fillet, giving it 124 horsepower. Too bad there was no six-speed manual in stock when I bought it.
I can totally relate to this. My first 5 years of driving experience took place in an even more 'great' car. No power steering, no ABS, no nothing. I don't want to miss that experience.
My father's first car, a 1998 grey 5-door hatchback. I still remember the day we took it to the scrapyard in 2017.. Since then he drove my mother's now-sold 2001 Almera, another car with a split grille. 9:00 I regretfully don't remember this
The 0-100kmph was the worst I've ever seen. You just need to run with the first 3 gears, all the way to the top of the gears and you'll make it around 15-17secs
I have 1998 k11 1.3 injection model with 88,000 miles and no problems so far. I've owned it for five years and driven 50,000 of the total miles. Other than usual servicing, only things I changed are brake pads and front discs, and front shocks, and I replaced the radio so I can link my smart phone. It's 23 years old now and drives like new. I get 250 minimum around town on 35 litres of regular petrol up to 280 on combined use. With premium petrol I get 350 miles on 35 litres combined usage. I did my MOT test yesterday - no issues.
hello I am in Madagascar and I have a Nissan micra k11, it has a small problem with the cooling I do not know where the problem comes from but the water is really hot? i need advice if someone can answer me
I see that this car has a Dutch registration. How can a car without a trailer hitch even be street legal in the Netherlands? Just asking for a German friend.
I’m getting some serious “father of a teenager” vibes from this. Also, it blows me away that you have to listen to the engine to shift gears. You could do the same thing in a Ford Model A and really impress people!
Bravo. Keep it up so amusing and true. By the way try ordering a towing hitch for a Bugatti Royale as scarce as a roof rack for a Bentley continental. Love from Greece
I don't know about either of these cars, but I SO agree with you about these new cars with all this extra technological bs in them!! I drive a 2006 Mazda 3, Nothing fancy, but it gets me where I want to go and it's alive and kicking. And it's a standard. I love driving standards and have only driven after my first car a used mid 60s Ford Custom 500 which I owned in the mid-70s. Standards are just so much more fun to drive. I like being able to down shift if I'm driving on ice up a mountain road for example. I've driven some of the newer vehicles and I find the computer screen in the middle of the dashboard a distraction. And I definitely relate about listening when I'm driving.
37 seconds to 100 km/h if you shift at really low rpm. If you shift at around 50 and 90 km/h just below the rev limiter it will get there at 15 seconds.
I once spent 8 hours in the backseat of a Nissan micra cramped in with a dog I love but am allergic to, nerves Starting to fray because I couldn't listen to music, couldn't smoke, couldn't do anything, and I had no pitch room. Never again. They're great for errands, great for a childless couple or empty nesters but as a family car? No.
Mighty Micra - 0-60 in two days, downhill. I love my Micra, slow but simple to maintain, reliable and perfectly adequate for town use. I can do every job with a fairly basic set of tools. Most "high end" cars have components which need VIN coding - and that means using a main dealer due to the high annual subscription an independent garage must pay, per make and model.......Simple is better in my view: I get in turn the key, it starts, I am dry, warm and on the move - what more do you want - an ego massage?
Green car too? Looks a lot like my old 1995 Nissan Sentra. It also wasn't a diesel, but the engine still sounded like one for it faked a diesel knock by pinging loudly on any kind of gasoline you fed it! The Gutless Wonder - it showed its lack of oomph every time I had to pass someone or climb a hill.
I saw one once that had come from Canada during the 4th of July. My first time seeing one in person and it was delightful but they're not sold here and registering one as a grey import would likely have you up against the 35 year rule.
Nissan doesn't sell them in the US because Americans in general just don't like small cars. They don't sell in big enough numbers to be profitable. Here in Canada we love our small cars, many models available here that are not in the US.
The asymmetric tail reverse light is all the more disturbing because of the relative symmetry of the characters on the license plate: 44-GS-GG, this is beautiful with the symmetric 44 and GG, GS-44-SG would have been even better, but on the other hand would have made the taillight stand out even more.
Thanks Ed!
This legendary car will be worth more than a Chiron in a few years, you did the right thing.
Look the audio could've been better on some parts of the video but I absolutely love the charm and character in this video definitely sub worthy.
I honestly like the Micra. It really feels like a true small people's car. Newer cars are fat and ugly. This reminds me of the Mini or the old Fiat 500. @@Smarthealthclubuk I just bought mine, a 2001 model...I love it so much :)
Also Reliable
We just bought this engineering master piece today. Thanks for the review. :D
They were probably really disappointed over at the Bugatti showroom when you left to go buy a Micra.
@@61rampy65 probably not, I bet the dealership knows that the Bugatti is an inferior car to the almighty Micra.
You're like Doug Demuro but better. So glad i discovered this channel
Doug makes up stuff to seem smart. Ed is great
The best feature of the Micra is that noone would want to steal it 🤣 so funny Ed, really enjoyed this
I was going to have the Bugatti imported to USA but I cancelled the order and having a Nissan Micra imported instead. We have none of those exotic cars here. :)

That radio was so old it was picking up morse code
Hot tip to increase the value of anyone's old Nissan Micra by 50% instantly, fill the petrol tank right up.😊
Great 'tongue in cheek' video, thank you.
Mine is 23 years old, never broke down. 150k kms.
It is the rust that gets them.
Love my 2002 K11. done only 30,600 Miles. Never once let me down.
My K11 has done 300.000 Km and is still reliable! :D
those nissan micra's are great cars, as long as you dont have the later ones with the renault engines. 1000cc 16v and 1300cc 16v are bulletproof
I dont know if this is intentionally or unintentionally scuffed haha. The bad video quality and that narrow fottage before the 0-60 are awesome
We had 2 of them. A 1998 model and also a 2001 model called "fresh" with climate control, power windows, power steering, power brakes and 60hp. They where great and reliable.
PAL you have to give it some stick . if you want to get quicker to 100km. I drive it like I stole it. 😂😂
I shall sell Bugatti first thing tomorrow morning and aim for my 1999 Micra
This is hilarious. But I have a micra k11 as my first car and they are great cars and very nippy around corners
Old Nissans are great 👌
Sshh, you're not supposed to say that, you should say "made in Japan".
"...around corners."
A most splendid example of automotive engineering and design!
And those little things are extremely though and reliable, i know few with 400.000Km and still going.
Pity Nissan is no longer what it once used to be, Renault killed a great Japanese brand.
The best fun I ever had driving was driving sheds. I can't drive a bugatti to its limits but I can an MR2 or vectra.

I agree, the manual already makes it "200% more sporty" than any automatic. Also, contrary to what you might expect, it grips the road well, so you can drive fast, if you want to. Great review!!
Allowing the Engine to rev higher through the Gears would have Reduced the 0-100KPH time a lot .

True, that was a solid point and in my opinion, an excelent opportunity to double micra's points on the scoreboard.
I can I buy one?

Incredibly entertaining videos.
How many days of filming did you use? I can only imagine the outtakes. The "I'm growing a beard" had me rolling.
10:05 it kills me that you named the very car that went past you. god i love your videos, hilarious stuff! keep it up dude

Older version design of Nissan Micra was really nice.
Top! It makes me think of my mothers starlet, i loved driving it.

Still a very good looking ride after all the years
I have a 2015 Micra SR 1.6L with 109 hp. It's a blast to drive, especially with winter tires on gravel roads - flat out!
9:00 you got me 😂😂
I wouldn't trade a micra for any supercar in the world. Lol!
When you do a 0 to 60 test in a car like that you need to wind it out farther in each gear. Let it rev more.
That was the sexiest car review I've ever seen
Yeah the old mini’s (late 70s-2001)
I kinda like that look. It’s growing on me.
But what a sporty car! And 55 horsepower? What a beast! Wow!
Crash test comparison please.
The Micra will win this one too. Hard to get real damage when you won't ever go over 50... Checkmate, Bugatti! 😉
My brother's got a Micra and I think it's a great car, it's fun to drive and has a cool minimalistic vibe.
My father's first car, a 1998 grey 5-door hatchback. I still remember the day we took it to the scrapyard in 2017.. Since then he drove my mother's now-sold 2001 Almera, another car with a split grille.
9:00 I regretfully don't remember this
I like this live action style review format. This is awesome, pls make more of these 👍
This was amazing
He looks so young lol
Edward is super cute!
Go on then... Failed my first driving test in a Micra.
This is the car where I can hang out both my arms simultaneously
it's 'bout time we get to see you Ed!
Top gear 3.0
The 0-100kmph was the worst I've ever seen. You just need to run with the first 3 gears, all the way to the top of the gears and you'll make it around 15-17secs
Is it a good car ? im about to buy one
model 2002 .
Yes definitely!
Ideally, go for the K11 1.3 or 1.4 with 5 doors as they are rarer but better. The K11 micra is really good fun to drive.
Bro i got one like 2 months ago 1999 model fucking love mine lmao
I have 1998 k11 1.3 injection model with 88,000 miles and no problems so far. I've owned it for five years and driven 50,000 of the total miles. I still run a year 2000, 1 litre K11 Micra. In 2023. Nothing wrong with it !
Ed… you are a gas! Excellent video.
hello I am in Madagascar and I have a Nissan micra k11, it has a small problem with the cooling I do not know where the problem comes from but the water is really hot? i need advice if someone can answer me
Open up the grill.
I see that this car has a Dutch registration. How can a car without a trailer hitch even be street legal in the Netherlands? Just asking for a German friend.
Honestly prefer the Micra to the Chiron.
Such a small happy little thing like a Golden Retriever.
I’m getting some serious “father of a teenager” vibes from this. Also, it blows me away that you have to listen to the engine to shift gears. You could do the same thing in a Ford Model A and really impress people!
you talk like a gta character or a top gear host
Bravo. Keep it up so amusing and true. By the way try ordering a towing hitch for a Bugatti Royale as scarce as a roof rack for a Bentley continental. Love from Greece
After all the slick videos and proto-memes... it took me to the last effing video that I've watch from you to actually see you... hahaha... touche
Pewdiepies most praise car
Yes, c'est la meilleure voiture que j'ai eu : 20 ans sans souci !
This is all you need…….The best line for me in the whole video 😂
Thanks for this great review Ed🤝.
37 seconds to 100 km/h if you shift at really low rpm. If you shift at around 50 and 90 km/h just below the rev limiter it will get there at 15 seconds.
a true analog car! keep up the great work.
I have one for over 10 years. The most reliable car I have ever owned.
No.
You need to submit some vids to Top Gear. They need you!
my micra 1.0 bevor i switch the engine ..
0-100kph = 15,2
now with the sr20de: 5.8 (but i have wheelspin .-.)
After that final pose, I almost expected a “Doug Score”

To be fair it's not fair comparison with the Bugatti chiron if it was the 1.3 I would be like yeah that's fair
Like your Hyundai better. Just love your videos!
In Kurdish we have a saying: "A stick with both ends dipped in manure". I think this applies to both cars demonstrated here.
I own a Nissan Micra, and my 0-100 time is 12.5seconds.
You shift too quickly. You did this Legend of a car wrong my guy...😂
yes he shifts too quickly. I have same car and 0-100 is faster than he says in video.
I've never seen one. Do we have Nissan Micras in the USA? I like it.
I saw one once that had come from Canada during the 4th of July. My first time seeing one in person and it was delightful but they're not sold here and registering one as a grey import would likely have you up against the 35 year rule.

From all the wealthy nations I know, dutch are champions in using cheap and cheesy cars:-). Greets from Belgium).
