Bluefin | Penn Slammer IV 5500 | Nomad Riptide | Tiger Elite | TTWINS
We are back aboard TTWINS! Putting the Penn Slammer IV 5500 to the test against FOAMING BLUEFIN TUNA. We weren't sure where we were as we searched for foamers a few miles past Catalina. We weren't sure how the slammer would hold up. But we do hope you enjoy this quick uncut video anyway! SUBSCRIBE!!

Awesome catch!!! What a bend on the rod🤙💪
Thanks Daniel🤙🏼🤙🏼your Silk Ocean braid helped make it happen🎣💪🏼
@@MikeTOrangeCounty you took our saying very literal haha, “don’t give the fish an inch” ! Tight lines! buddy and looking forward to the next video :)
@@MikeTOrangeCounty Hi ! Are you still happy with Penn slammer 4? Or you would prefer a Shimano twin power ?
Penn reels and ugly stik rods always make the best combo.
Hi Jessie! Ugly Stik Tiger rods make great Penn combos. I have a couple of Tigers paired up with Spinfishers 6500 and 8500. I upgraded to a Nomad PE 4-6 to go with the Slammer IV 5500. Right lines🤙🏼🤙🏼
Congratulations buddy what an awesome catch! I just bought a Penn Slammer IV 2500 that I use on my soft bait rod!🎣😃
Thank you Dan🤙🏼🤙🏼definitely an upgrade to the Spinfisher… the slammers are a beast of a reel. Don’t know why spinning reels are not as popular here in So-Cal compared to the rest of the world!?
Nice BFT and vid Mike! Keep ‘em comin 🤙🏼
Thanks Giancarlo🤙🏼🤙🏼 Another video coming soon. We caught 3 BFT over 60lbs using spreader bars. Stay tuned!
I have a slammer 6500 coming in the mail to pair on an 8ft teramar for tarpon. Can't wait to hear that drag scream! Great video!
Thanks Brandon! I was debating to get the same high speed🤙🏼🤙🏼
Good stuff brotha! Good technique, pole and reel did good!
Thanks Steve🤙🏼🤙🏼I was pretty confident it would hold up… lucky it wasn’t over 60lbs. Anything bigger I would recommend bumping up to a 7500 or conventional. Sub me back brotha🙏🏼
SIIIICK! Great work
Appreciate it!🤙🏼🤙🏼
Nice work bro 🤙🏽
Awesome just bought the same reel.
Puttin the Ugly Stick to the test! I have the same combo nice.
Very good brother 👍
Epic
nice one
See you listed 40 lb fluorocarbon line, but did you have it attached to Braid, and if so would you reply with what strength Braid you had on your spinning reed here? Thanks!
Yo Terrell! Yes, I have it on 80lb braid Silk Ocean - it's thinner and has the same diameter as 40lb J braid.
People really underestimate the tiger rods they put the hurt on fish
Yewwwwww
Man all the time I was like dont f@#k with the drag glad it work out what's the lbs on the ugly stick
Ugly Stik Tiger Elite 7’ Heavy. Pretty much maxed out that rod so I got the Nomad Offshore PE 4-8 for more backbone.
Catch and release
DX a better option for a normal slammer?
Do you think a 7’6”
Ugly stick Tiger lite jigging rod would of handled that about the same? I’m looking at getting one to pair with a Penn Battle3 6000
Yo… I would NOT recommend using a Penn Battle 3 6000 for BFT as it only has 25lb drag. You will get spooled. I have not seen a 7’6 elite jigging rod. But the 6’6 elite heavy jigging will handle.
whats size to line do you use?
I was just surfing UA-cam for yellowtail yellowfin and bluefin videos when I notice this one. Turns out I follow you on Fishbrain. I love you landed that bluefin on spinning gear. Did you get a weight on the fish?
You C.Rig! Thanks for following me! This one was 35lb 2oz. Tight lines🤙🏼🤙🏼
@@MikeTOrangeCounty yup. Gonna hook myself up with some salt spinning gear. You just helped me make my decision. Looking forward to some more of your great vids.
Im planning to buy one. What size is that reel and braid did you use? 🙏🏻
Yo Damboo. This one is a 5500 with silk ocean braid PE5.
@@MikeTOrangeCounty 60lbs braid?
@@damboo8476 the brand I use is Silk Ocean rated PE 5 which is 83.5lbs and it’s the thinnest out there at 0.33mm which is comparable to the same diameter as 40lb braid in other brands giving you more line capacity. You can try PowerPro Maxcuatro which is also super thin but not as thin as Silk Ocean🤙🏼🤙🏼
@@MikeTOrangeCounty i didnt know that. So its better than power pro then? I tried to find on amazon but they dont have it. Thanks bro now i know what im getting. 🙏🏻
@@damboo8476 anytime 🤙🏼🤙🏼good luck and tight lines. I subbed your channel…awesome guitar playing brotha!
Very nice work, and nice patience towards the end. Do you feel you would’ve benefited from a rod with a bit more lifting power? I’m impressed the rod could pull in a small bluefin but it did seem to be about bottomed out as far as lifting. I’d imagine a fish that was 20 pounds heavier would’ve either won, or taken an hour to land
Definitely would’ve been better with a better rod. This was actually my kayak setup. However I did pick up a Nomad offshore rod pe 4-8. 🍻 cheers!
Hi sir, i have penn slammer iii, can i use it for slow pitch jig in 200m water depth with 200gram jig lure..?
Yes you can definitely can. Pair it with a SP rod.
@@MikeTOrangeCounty Thank you Sir 🙏🏻
What weight was this tuna ?
35lb 2oz
ikejime ?
My buddy forgot the wire but we dispatched them as quickly as possible🤙🏼🤙🏼
@@MikeTOrangeCounty my man
Why? If you’re gonna keep ‘em, just club ‘em as many times in the head as necessary 😂
