No Doubt about it, this is the most beautiful "Batmobile" ever made! It is truly a work of art from Barris's genius mind and the most remarkable thing is it's 60's technology and design yet it stands out and shines bright aside anything batmobile since.

I don't care how many new batmoble this century makes, there is nothing near or come close as the original batmoble. This car is beautiful.
Glad you enjoy this one Marcos Maldonado :-) Me too, Lou
BOO-YAH! Listen to it purr!
The 1966 Batmobile (Barrismobile) is NOT the original Batmobile.
In the comics, Batman used a customized Studebaker-type vehicle (1940s or 1950s vintage; cars looked about the same for 2 decades!) that had a Bat-ram for the front and a Bat-fin on top of it. A design like this was most recently used in the Batman: The Brave and The Bold animated series.
Most of the Bat autos during that time (1940s-early 1960s) were lightly modified stock cars. The very first Batmobile was a convertible (generic, Studebaker, who knows?) that was red and the extent of the customization was a gold bat ornament on the hood!
Barris' design broke that mold and it's been lightly copied (to avoid paying a license fee) over the years in animation or directly referenced/drawn in stories. There's a Batman/Superman comic book from about 16 years ago where that Barris design FINALLY appears in the Batcave. You see it from the front and the side.
For years, Barris wouldn't license the design or let people make models and toys of his Batmobile design. They had to modify the Batmobile design slightly for a TV dramedy made in 2006(?) because they didn't want to pay his fee.
There were two live-action Batman projects prior to the 1966 TV series. They were 1943 and 1946 serials. They're AWFUL movies and among the worst superhero adaptations of their time. The "Batmobile" in one or both serials (I haven't sat through both of them because they were BORING on top of being poorly made!) is an unmodified car. By the late 1940s, they were drawing a Batmobile in the comics with the Bat-ram and Bat-fin I mentioned.
Marcos Maldonado , i have a beautiful Metal Model of The Batmobile & it lights up 👍
@@AvengerII Adam West Said the One they Drove Out of Batcave was a Piece of Junk. Ford 390 Engine Low Compression. Slow with Loose Suspension. The One That was Sold at Auction was The Looker, Not the One Driven.
Back in the 60s, that 'Batmobile' was an awesome fantasy automobile...
And still it is. Love it !!!

I saw the original car when it was bought out to Australia over twenty years ago I remember seeing it on the old tv series but to see it up close it was impressive best looking car of all the bat mobiles
Hi victor petroff, Thank you for viewing and sharing your memories of this car :-) Hope you see many more cars on this UA-cam Channel you'll enjoy, Lou
victor petroff The rocket actually didn't work on the REAL Batmobile. They fired one from a jet-engine. The gauges should devalue it.
Yep. It came here a few times I think. I had a race car stored in a storage complex in Sydney in 1988. The batmobile was in the unit on my right and the Munster car was in the one on the left. Some local promoter used to bring them out. Can't remember who.
"Atomic batteries to power...turbines to speed..."
Nice :-)
I had a die-cast metal toy Batmobile when I was 5 years old (back in 1979), with firing rockets and front ram/chain cutter! Ah, the memories! It's amazing to see the original up-close like this.
Good times, good times :-)
Dude......I got that King Size Matchbox car when it came out while the original show was running!
Atomic batteries to power. Turbines to speed. Roger ready to move out.
:-)
this looks like a fiberglass fanatics repro. logansport indiana company. officially licensed by DC to make these cars so it's as accurate as you can get

And the video I was missing, the one of the Batmobile from the famous TV series "Batman" from 1966! Unique and unforgettable, there is only one authentic vehicle that sparked the imagination of many television viewers of that time. Even today (already approaching 60 years old) she still looks spectacular! Thanks for the link, Lou, and congratulations, again, on that 10th anniversary!
Hi Jaime, Happy to see you found this car :-) I agree, the Batmobile still creates excitement today. Thank you for the well wishes on the 10th anniversary. Glad you're along for the ride, Lou
Actually there are 4 originals and countless clones. This is a clone. Still an awesome car and a true legend.

Hi Andrew, "WORK OF ART" I agree :-) Lou
The most iconic tv or movie car in history . Keep the Dukes of Hazard Charger and the Bullit Mustang
Happy to read you enjoy the Batmobile :-) Me too.
Nowhere near as well known to audiences. The Keaton batmobile is more recognized that this and the General Lee is considered the most famous automobile in the world.
@@LakeHowellDigitalVideo seriously? The Keaton fatmobile? I don't think so. This car is second ONLY to the GL.
Thanks so much for the video! This is the closest I'll ever get to seeing one and being inside the Batmobile! Appreciate the close-ups of the interior.

"It's all about the car!"
Men fall in and out of love with women.
They ALMOST never fall out of love with certain cars!
I think there four or five iconic cars in movie and TV that pretty much everyone over 40 recognizes.
The 1966 Batmobile is near the top of that list.
In my personal list, I'd also have to add KITT from Knight Rider, the Munstermobile from The Munsters, James Bond's Aston Martin DB5 which originally appeared in Goldfinger, the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard, and the 1989 Batmobile which I think was the last iconic Batmobile to appear in live-action. I do like the 1992 animated Batmobile design as well. I really don't care for the other Batmobile designs in animation and live-action...
Hi AvengerII, Happy to read the 1966 is near the top of your list :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
...Greatest car ever made...66 Batmobile! Id rather have this than a lamborgini!
Hi Robd collector, You'd get more looks driving this one down the street that's for sure :-) I'd choose this one too, Lou
There was something I forgot to mention the original 66 Batmobile had Craiger rims. The reproduction doesn’t use Craiger rims I don’t know why. It’s possibly because the company doesn’t make that particular style anymore. But if you could find an original set of 66 Crager rims and have them refurbished. Then that replica would be identical basically except for a few small little things like the steering wheel the Ventura used to have a pushbutton steering wheel transmission I think you guys know what I’m talking about I’m not an expert on vehicles but I do keep on top of them.
You can buy a reproduction of that 1966 style on Amazon they cost around $283 apiece
Thank you for sharing.
I have a beautiful Metal Model of The Batmobile from the TV SHOW, & it lights up 👍
Sounds like a fun Model :-) Cool !
Beautiful car thank you George Barris.

the original 1966 Batmobile when it was sold to a private collector The original 1966 Batmobile, one of the most recognized and popular pieces of entertainment history worldwide, sold for $4.62 million and set a record for TV and movie cars when it crossed block at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction in 2013 The person that owns it actually has it at his house on a rotisserie table in the middle of the foyer when you walk into the house just like they used to have in the original Batcave in the 66 TV show mr. Barris didn’t think the car would go so high in price he was only figuring around $150,000 he would get for it. But he was shocked when it went for basically 4 1/2 million dollars it was between two bidders One bider bowed out and allow the other one to purchase it they shook hands and hugged after the hammer went down! I watched it live on television.

Uh....NO, a color movie was NOT a big deal in 1966, it was the standard since the 1950s. And many older movies were made in color such as Gone With The Wind in 1939. Even color TV has been around since the 1950s and by1966 the vast majority of TV programs were broadcast in color.
Hi CaneFu, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
That particular Batmobile cost $200,000 you can buy them today you just have to have the money upfront before the guy will build it for you and yes it is a Lincoln frame underneath all you have to do is contact. Mark Racop of Fibreglass Freaks they are the only ones that are licensed by DC comics to make the replica. The price ranges between 120,000 and 200,000 depending on what options you put on it.
Hi SuperAgentman007, Thank you for sharing, Lou
The original Customizer of the Ford Futura for George Barris that would become Batmobile #1 was completley cusomized by Karl Krumme Jr., nobody else in the shop was permitted to even step into the area where Karl was working, once the car was finished, Randy Wright with some direction or consultation with Karl made the Fiberglass Molds and 5 Fiberglass Bodies for George Barris, The only guy left who actually worked on the original Batmobiles, and Randy is the only guy who worked on all 6 Batmobiles since he made all of the Bodies.
I have Randy Wrights phone number if you want to reach him, he always loves to talk shop.
George Barris reffered to Karl Krumme as the Bondo King, and odly enough Randy was refered to as Mikey, as in the 70s tv commercials, lets get get Mikey, he will do it , he will do anything, meaning Randy seemed to work on everything, that everybody was working on all of the time because of his versatility and skills. I dont know that Randy was the most crative guy in Geroge Barris stables but if you know what you want Randy Wright could build it.

Beautiful car. It's one of my bucket list vehicles to own and drive someday. But the bat mobile that I want will actually have jet power 😊 and not a hot air balloon burner.
Hi Ezikiel Mooney, I hope you get this one knocked off your list. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
You can get one that is as close as they come from a company called Fiberglass Freaks. They make the only legal replica's out there. They have videos on UA-cam. You can find them at www.fiberglassfreaks.com

First time I've seen under the hood of the Batmobile!
HI Red 13, Glad you like the details under the hood :-) Me too, Lou
Sorry Red you haven't seen under the hood of THE Batmobile this car is a reproduction with a 385 series ford big block 460 cid engine the original had a ford FE series 390 cid engine although people call it a big block it was not
Why no mention of the company that makes these? I believe its a Fearless fiberglass car.
Thank you for viewing & sharing.
Great car, but the details are slightly wrong about it's selling price. At Barrett Jackson it sold for $4.2 million not $4.6 as it said on that photo.
Hi Justin T, When you do the math it's $4.2M sale, and 10% ($400K) for Barrett Jackson Buyer fee = $4.6M, Lou
This is and always will be the DEFINATIVE Batmobile, nothing comes close, the 89 is good but in second place.

Beautiful batmobile!
One concern i had was the motor was rather loud. Like someone forgot to fill the crankcase or maybe a waterpump going south. When those 460's have a well used waterpump, the bearings go bad overnite and it sounds like the world is about to end with the impeller clicking against different stuff in there.
Sweet dual exhaust sound!
Nice rumble!!

I'd agree Greg Dore.
I saw the first Batman episode a few months ago. The show is kinda silly but way more fun than anything put out in the last few decades. 59 year old me enjoyed it just as much as 5 year old me did. Cat Woman was way smoking hot, no wonder Dad never missed an episode. The Batmobile had a computer in the trunk that was networked with the one in the Batcave.
Hi flyingmerkel6, Good show & good times :-) Thank you for viewing & sharing, Lou

It sold at Barrett-Jackson for $4.2M not $4.6M and was based on a 1955 Lincoln Futura which was a prototype that never went into production. I wish it had, tho.
Andy let's do the math. $4.2M sales & 10% Buyers fee of $400K = $4.6M Lou

Nice replica but a far cry from the original. The biggest disappointment for me was the exhaust. No jet engine sound.
The jet engine sound would be fun :-)
Yes the jet engine sound on a rear speaker & LED Afterburner lights for the Hollywood Effect. May as well have the Batman theme song playing as well 👍❤
No turbine engine! No one cars about starting it up, if it's a standard engine. lol
That was a surprise no turbine engine :-(
Likewise that's why I watched in 1966. And then Julie Newmar made her entrance

Then you add the 10% auction fee ($400,000.00) and you have 4.6 M
Though yours looks very nice, Sorry, not "spot on accurate". The original futura and following Hero #1 66 Batmobile had two huge chrome bands around the seat backs, You left that out in your reproduction. Is it street legal? I didn't see any headlights, license plates or wipers. That old car still looks cool today. I love the colors. I like the way everything is clearly marked so you know what it is. lol. Same with everything in the bat cave lab.
I don't think so.
I see the car came from Pennsylvania. The windshield sticker gives that away. ha ha

The original tv Batmobile was the coolest car ever‼️ I saw it at a custom car show at the now long gone Hamilton Forum (Ontario) my father bought a new ‘77 Grand Marquis with a trailer towing package and the 460 engine, massive car. He would get about 9 mpg in the city and around or close to 11 mpg on the highway, but this was imperial gallons, not the smaller U.S gallon! Cheers🍻🇨🇦🥂🇺🇸👍
Hi Trip Review, I agree, the 1966 Batmobile is the coolest car ever :-) Thank you for viewing & sharing, Lou
@Zolar Czakl yes, it would be less mpg if measured in u.s gallons. Didn’t figure the mileage out but a u.s gallon is abuot 3.78 litres whereas an imperial gallon is or maybe I should say “was” roughly 4.54 litres.
@Zolar Czakl I do, and I did agree with you. I never said that 9mpg on an imperial was better gas mileage than 9mpg in a u.s gallon. I was saying the opposite.
@Zolar Czakl it’s no problem, I may have worded it in such a way. Cheers🍻

Don't care if it's not the original However anyway the original batmobile is a 4.2 or 4.3 million dollar car anyway at that high end of a vehical I would think that you would want it to be insured for quite a lot of money and I'd be extremely nervous about owning such an expensive car or even driving such an high caliber vehical anyway so a copy wouldn't bother me at all thank you... VERY NICE THANK YOU FOR SHARING THAT VIDEO..
Hi Rosemarie A Cipperley
, Happy to read you "love it" :-) You're right, the insurance would be a lot cheaper on a copy, and you don't have to worry when driving it around. Hope you see many more cars on this UA-cam Channel you enjoy, Lou
This car brings back a lot of memories! Great car story Lou!
Glad to read you enjoy this car, and it's a favorite of mine :-)
The exterior of the this car is good.
The interior is not even close.
It's a replica of the REPLICA.
nice try.
I was at the New York car show at Columbus Circle.
I saw the original
and the "Munster" cars, and saw George Barris.
Nice guy.
