Long time rider here - riding since 1961 (yeah, I'm that old). A couple of notes. Glasses - if you need prescription lenses, get polycarbonate (Lexan) lenses. They're a bit thicker than glass, but they won't trash your eye should something hit them. This per my ophthalmologist. Other than that - you're absolutely correct. Plastic, no glass. Stimulants - if you need them, you need to get off the bike and rest a bit. Your body is trying to tell you something and you can't fool it in the long run.
As part of my toolkit/emergency kit I carry a set of flares. They came in very handy a couple times last year when I was on the freeway broken down on the side of the road. Helps to let oncoming traffic now there’s a vehicle stopped up ahead, cars and trucks flying up the right side lane at 60-70 mph really make it difficult when you’re on a motorcycle at the side of the road.
Iridium visors are real good and totally kill the glare from the sun but they are a bit expensive, try a few lines of electrical tape across the top of your visor i have 3 lines of it on my scorion exo lid and i have it so even if the sun is real low i only have to tip my head a midgies and the sun disapears ontop the taped area, also yellow and orange visors are real good they seem to make things stand out big time and the best thing is they reduce the glare from car LED headlights, dont know if you have the same prob in the states as we do in the uk but these HID LED headlights are dangerouse if you ask me, btw you look seriously wicked in the RED jacket....
Me Too! I also carry a can of Slime Tire sealant. My Rocket III Roadster has tubeless tires and my Thruxton R has tubed tires. The Slime is awesome to get you home and works great in the long haul too. Peace and ride safe!
You are ready for almost anything. Good planning. I have saddle bags and I have everything in mine as I do a lot of riding alone and I just drive. Most of the time I go to unfamiliar roads and have no idea where I am so I also have a gps for a little assistance from time to time. I always have a portable booster that can boost your bike if needed or recharge any electronics and power my gps. Frogg toggs are a must for wet rides, I love them as they can be used to warm up in case you underestimated how warm it was. I carry water, snacks and Dex 4 as I am diabetic in case my sugar goes low. I have extra gloves face masks etc.... My buddies make fun of me but they have all benefited from these at one point or another.
I take a repair kit and a small air compressor (accu driven) with me. In my car, or my motorcycle. To repair my tubeless tyres, if they become flat. including spare tyre valves and his special tool, if I got stolen. So I can repair my tyres, without dismounting from the bike. I got my spark plugs stolen, on a parking area near a music club. But smile, I had spare plugs with me. Just mount it, and drive away. Spare fuses and spare light bulbs are a must. If you have no automatic fuses in your vehicle, and no LED lights. Chain lube in a spray is a must, if your bike is rear chain driven. ie to prepare your chain before rain, or lube it after driven in rain. My clothes, gloves, and boots are waterproof. If it rains. Ask experienced driver, what they got, by riding. And be prepared as possible. On longer tours I take so much tools with me, that I can repair my engine, too. In the past, I needed it. On a tour, I met a motorcycle driver, with burned electric cables, under his gas tank. Maybe a cable short was the reason. But I had spare cables, tape etc. to repair it. So he can ride back home: 500 miles.
I carry almost nothing useful because I just use my school backpack LOL ....I guess I do have, basic medicine and feminine stuff, a band aid, a portable battery pack and a phone that could be useful
Great tip I learned for wet gear. FROG TOGGS. They are wind/water proof, mega compact to store and great for camping too. Most bike wet gear is crazy bulky. Ride safe!
Forgot to add: I always carry a rain jacket and pants on a trip. I got caught out once big time and everything got soaked. It took a few days to dry out my boots and even the lining in my helmet was wet. I've heard a full rain suit is best, but nothing is absolutely waterproof except a submarine.
Thanks Doodle, Really like the USB battery great idea need to get one. I like the Frogg Toggs for possibility of rain, got mine at Academy sporting goods. I’m in Texas but I know Atlanta has a Academy. Great setup you have. Thanks for sharing.
They make USB chargers that attaches to the charging adapter. You motorcycle battery will charge your phone. Much smaller than any backup battery and will charge any device all the time. And no worries about forgetting to charge your pack either.
I noticed that you didn't include a water bottle in your bag. May I suggest checking out memobottle. The have varying sizes including A7, A6, A5 AND slim. named after international paper sizes. Designed to fit in a briefcase, hand bag or full backpack. They are B Corp certified TOO.
Hey Doodle thx for sharing.. have you considered a SPOT GPS tracker or something like it for your kit? It is an excellent way for distress calls or notifications of your location to outside parties while you are exploring. Mine pings my location to friends and relatives in ATL every 5 min. Anyhoo just sharing dat knowledge. Scott
I carry a tire plug kit and a small 12 volt air compressor to pump tire up after a fix is performed. Some will say never to plug a tire, but if your stuck, it can get you going again. Just ride with caution.
If you have a shoei nxr helmet get a transition visor, I have one on the helmet I ware to go to work, and if I know I may be back in the dark I change it around depending which helmet I ware. They are an awesome bit of kit. 👍🏻
So cute, You can be celebrity's in my country . Nice list . Mine : -Simple tool kit -Powerbank -Powerbank again just in case powerbank no 1 not enough or forget to charging it -phone , this is must , with this mostly i can get away of any situation -extra cash just in case theres no atm -water n snack -cigarette Depend how far im going and situation 😂
Doodle, thank you for sharing. I’d look into getting proper rain gear. Some sort of GPS that shows your location to your loved ones. I feel you on the riding alone part. Enjoy your weekend.
I'd probably have to make room for a Glock 43 in there somewhere, or at least keep some pepper spray very handy. Fortunately, I've never needed either for a human so far, but dogs are not as easily reasoned with, especially when there's more than one with the same idea of ruining your day.
should have seen my pudding pops days, buy a 12 or 24 pack Pudding Pops an slam them before they melted, having a 68 Shovel, needed basic tools, tire spoons, c clamp, points an plugs, being Infantry, dry socks, long johns an one set of cloths to changed into when wet, handlebars always carried my leathers, pants an jacket
Those of us with tube type tires have to carry a shitload of stuff - tubes (can't patch a shredded tube), pump, tire tools, tarp to keep hub clean while wheel is on the ground, tire lube, tools to remove wheel and tire, hat to keep the sun off, tarp to keep the rain off, etc. I had two flats in one day once, so it was like a 6 hour ordeal. Plus no center stand so have to partially disassemble the bike so I can lay it on its side to remove wheel. Always the rear wheel of course. Thankfully I avoid city riding so nails, etc. are rare where I go.
Check out a Windjammer - a neoprene sock for your helmet. It has 'reusable' glue to attach to the lower edge or your helmet and provides a wind barrier between your neck and the helmet to cut down on buffeting, noise, etc. So glad for mine. No chapped lips here, but I never get them anyway.
Great video Doodle. Wow, jip ties for a broken stand spring.!! Brilliant. I have a little duct tape, wrapped around a pen. Always have a flashlight, tire repair kit with pump, selection of gloves and a first aid kit. In my jacket pocket - a CAT (tourniquet) and CEL+X gauze. Cheers.
l will never ride with somthing strapped to my back thats what saddle bags & gear sack bags are for you come off with a back pack on thats reaily gona hurt & do you some damage.. be safe Cheers from Down Under & keep Ya Knee's in Da Breeezzzeeee......
I ride with the Kriega 25 at all times. I have the 30, but for most close to home rides, it is too large also with the pain of having to un-roll the inner pack to get to stuff. The 25 is the ticket and no matter the bike I choose to ride, this one does the job perfectly! It's always on my back at all times...
Sunglasses are a lot better than visors! I have a gold-tinted visor on my Airmada. Looks so cool but they make it a lot harder to see at night! Also, gotta carry around that emergency cocaine lol
We have the same motorcycle ☺️ I just traded in my Harley for a street triple r a couple of days ago. Pls send me the link where I can buy those wind visors you have on your bike.
Just get the dark smoke shield you can't see the scratches in that like you do the mirror. The plastic glasses can still hurt you. OMG you carry snacks too? I thought i was the only 1. Use cheap plastic cell phone screen protectors where your magnets go 👍
Was told a long time ago not to carry anything hard in a backpack on a motorcycle. Fall on it and your spine’s gone. Saddlebags, fuel tank packs, stay safe. Love your videos, just subscribed tonight, keep posting! Kudos from France
Girl, you need some Gore-Tex. Sir Mix A Lot wrote a whole song about this gear. He lives in the Pacific north west. He knows about which he is speaking!
You might try to find a backpack with a waist strap. It makes a world of difference. Also, you should be able to put an extension on your charger port and route it into a tail bag. It saves a few years! And Frogg Toggs for rain. Upgrade that poncho!
Can you do a video of buying a beginner motorcycle vs buying a bigger motorcycle to grow into, kinda like a pros vs cons, I'm having a hard time deciding what to do as a newbie rider. Thanks!
All good info, but where do you carry your alcohol, and in what quantities and varieties (ie., quarts, gallons, and gin, bourbon, rye, etc.)? Inquiring minds want to know! And in that vein, tell us more about motorcycle camping experiences, please!
LOL! 😅 no alcohol on my bike, unfortunately... and haven’t done any more camping since that last trip where my bag got sucked into my bike 😜 I’ll keep you guys updated!
The bike in the thumbnail reminds me of this movie I used to watch when I was a kid. It was about a boy who gets a dirt bike and it comes to life. Literally. Those headlights are similar looking to eyes to me and I think about that movie. I think it had the boy who played ralphie in A Christmas story. It was either a movie or a weird fever dream I had in the 80s🤔
Doodle...… love the channel! cant wait to see the vid on your track day cuz I want to do one to! I have to tell you something..... when you say the word MOTORCYCLE you pronounce it MORTORCYCLE sometimes ! SUPER CUTE! Keep up the great channel!

Don't use caffeine, all that does is give you a short term perk up and then you go into an even lower low and the cycle continues. The same for energy drinks. Water and rest are the solutions if you feel tired or lacking focus.
In the tank bag (actually a tail bag) on baby Grom, water bottles, bungie cords and net, multitool, tire repair stuff, zip ties, bug off stuff, pair of socks, rag, one of those ponchos, and plastic bag. The magnetic one I use on the TUX, fits in a helmet; cords, socks, rag, multitool, tire gauge, plastic bag, and most important is a bottle of water. I need two ammo cans to carry all the tire repair stuff on the TU, tools, one rear tube, praying I never need it...and rain gear. Stay pretty, take water.

Long time rider here - riding since 1961 (yeah, I'm that old). A couple of notes.

Peace and ride safe!
didn't know that existed!! #mindblown
I got a tire plug kit that came in a pouch. Contains tire plugs and 2 co2 cans, air hose. Lot better than calling a toe truck 😎
@@jman1957 A toe truck, eh? I'd love to see one of those.

hair ties! and aspirin and lotion!

A kickstand punk. Its for putting under ur kickstand. When there's no hard surfaces. So yr bike wouldn't fall.
Even in August the rain can be cold. I got caught Saturday afternoon and it was sooooo cold. Found a overhang quickly

oh yea little progressive air containers (like whip its) to get some air into your tire to get off the highway to a air tank/compressor
😂

I used to carry my tablet and a portable charger. And my go pro... ironically.. when I went down I wasnt using the cam lol oh and tire repair kit,
Oooooohh man dang luck

Thanks!! 😜
If you ride by yourself a lot you should look into some form of tire repair kit with the co2 cartridges.
I have a pair of beer cuzies I use, because my jacket and gloves do the same thing. Do you have a emergency tool kit?

I only carry textbooks in my bag.
No tire repair or co2?
That and a ccw. Plenty of aggressive road ragers on the street and most likely armed.
Always wondered what a girl carries in her backpack. Thanks for clearing that up!

bandaids, bug spray, MASKS!, baby wipes, sanitizer, very mini tripod, camera, ibuprofen, pen, paper, electrical tape, screwdriver, water -- I'm going to add tire kit, poncho, possibly flares, zip ties, bungies after reading through this. Thanks!

I won't wear a backpack. If a bike doesn't have saddle bags and a windshield, in my book it isn't a bike I would think about riding.
It seems you'd still have room in that backpack for a sticky note with my phone number :)
It’s full!
Seriously her prescription lenses were glass? I didn't think they still made those.
