One thing that’s been plaguing my mind is that other systems seemed like they knew exactly who they were, and that we, being mixed and able to hear each others thoughts, weren’t “real” alters, because we didn’t have this sense of clarity. Thanks to this video, we now see that having little idea who you are is something other systems deal with too (this feels like an essay and is bothering me, but whatever)

it might set you at ease to look into blurring/blending! identity confusion is very very Very common in systems, and it’s a lot less black and white than most people make it out to be. also, hearing each other’s thoughts is actually pretty normal as far as i’m aware! sometimes things get a little tricky, especially if they’re so close to front. time and practice will help you sort out who begins where

Oh yeah we can vouch for these tips! When we first discovered our system, we thought we had to know who was fronting and logging it in simply plural every time it happened. We thought we had to fit into these boxes of different roles and know every detail about who we are. While it was kinda helpful to log our switches in the beginning, we ended up finding it more distressing to constantly have to think about who we are and grab our phone to write it down. Now we just write in our own discord serve once in a while whenever an alter wants to say "hey, im fronting and I have something to say"
Also the most helpful advice for us at least, is that you can't and shouldn't push learning everything about your system. It will happen naturally as you establish trust between parts and when it's safe. You can end up even more dissociated if you break the trust of the other alters by overstepping boundaries. Be patient. I know it is a common urge to want to learn why you're a system and who these alters are so that you feel in control, but doing that won't give you that control. It won't solve your post traumatic symptoms. You sadly can't rush recovery. It takes a long time and it isn't linear. Be patient and learn to work with your system. And remember to just relax and do things without thinking "am I doing this because im this alter or is it another alter and wait... who am I even?". It's ofc easier said than done, but it feels so nice to just exist in the real, physical world without stressing over some existential questions about your identity
Long rambles at 4:30 am, but they might be good for the algorithm and maybe someone reads it and it helps them or they feel seen idk aaaa

I've recently come to terms with the fact that I am a system, and we really needed to hear the part about just being yourself and not caring so much about who is fronting or names or anything. We seem to meet all of the criteria for OSDD (specifically OSDD-1a) and I'm currently working with a therapist that specializes in trauma related disorders. Because we aren't very different from each other, it can feel stressful to conform to what's expected of systems. This video helped me realize I just need to be patient with myself and the others and try my best to just let things happen naturally instead of trying to put us all in tiny box's. Thank ya'll for the video.

something that has helped my system is getting clothing specifically for different alters. of course, you can still share these clothes! it can help alters feel more comfortable fronting if they are wearing something that feels right to them, if that makes sense. something that feels more like them.
for example, one of my alters likes earthy colors, like greens and browns, so i got a brown dress and a cute green top that they like. these clothes help this alter feel more "at home" in the body, even if they don't fully feel connected to the body.

the one issue that i find with a lot of videos is that content creators with DID kinda feel like they need to "put on a show" for youtube and it makes it feel really inauthentic and hard to relate to (at least for me personally). this video was better in that sense and i appreciate the fact that you mentioned that not alters have to be /completely/ different from one another. they can have things in common and it doesn't mean someone doesn't have DID.
i really appreciate this video and i look forward to watching more of your content. :))💚

Really appreciating this video even though so far it's things we already do. Probably because it's so validating that we're not mucking things up despite not always doing things in what some see as a standard way.
An introduction is in order so the bit down below makes more sense (not that the intro wasn't already written. When we write about plurality it tends to be a cooperative effort. Chaotic but cooperative 😁)
We're mainly a bunch of facets that are very similar but focused on specific parts of our life we're better at. There's a couple who aren't as similar and blurry but we all get along and are still getting to know each other. Afaik I'm co-conscious whenever the one we call Trey is out and there aren't any memory barriers among the facets.
We swap in and out much more freely now that our existence as a system is something we're all aware of (used to be terrified of feeling like different people in different situations. Turned out we were.) I can say that yes just being who you are in the moment and not trying to direct traffic forcefully or worry about who's out is just the best. Anyway I'll edit if there's any other comments I have for the rest of the video.
Edit: Just a teeny note. By focused on what we're better at I mean voluntarily took up roles, not like feeling like we have to do one thing or another. Most of us get frustrated trying to do things were don't find interesting or aren't talented at. Though some like a challenge.

I forgot we had simply plural for a while and now it thinks I’ve been fronting for over 7300 hours which is very silly (I am unsure if I should fix it or see if it can go to 10000 hours) (I had no idea it could go up that high)

Finally i have a way to articulate whats been bothering me about my system
i feel jealous of people who have it worse than me when it comes to plurality
maybe in most cases, having a system that is all connected and conscious is good
but for me, it just leads to constant blurring and nobody ever really feels like they get a chance to rest (even if they do)
if i am mable and decide to rest,
then im not mable resting, im whoever took her place
i feel locked out of my own head
all this would be fine if we were different and separate
    but nope
we all have 98% the exact same memories, the personality traits are too weak and fluid to detect most of the time, and it just feels...
like i was supposed to split.
I don't feel comfortable like this.
I want to get into my headspace.
I want to experience separate consciousness.
when the driver gets out of the car, she expects to go home. not to be whomever gets behind the wheel next.
i want mable, libby, rin, amber, and whoever else is in here, to be individuals.
    not just feelings.
i want them to experience things at the same time. i don't want to just be the one who's fronting.
if mable is throwing a tantrum in my head, i want to remember doing that when i come out, not just the reason why, i wanna remember being there.
if libby is giving me advice, then when libby comes out, i want to remember her thought process that lead to that advice.
if im somebody stuck in the pits of my own mind, i want to be there to scream for help. i don't want to only be the one not noticing.
i wish i could describe this in a way that didn't sound stupid...
i just want all of us to have a perspective.
i want those perspectives to be parallel, to exist at the same time.
but as it stands i just feel like one continuous very very inconsistent perspective and its just so upsetting.
internal sonder, is what i need.

I wonder whenever what i'm experiencing is something system related. I've been struggling with dissociative symptoms for years; i would often have times i would "watch myself talk from 3rd person" and constantly struggle to ground myself but i was always afraid of bringing it up to someone due to the stigma associated with dissociative disorders. I do have different "selves" i "talk" to in my mind since i was 14 (or 9-11 after rediscovering my old journal), but they aren't fully fledged or 100% unique from me though some have different views, and as silly as it sounds one of them always reminds me to study when i procastinate. Since my "selves" aren't unique i often found it difficult to tell who has the wheel or even if someone else took the wheel except the times one of them would feel something really strongly or when i would get pushed out of sorrow and continue working as if nothing happened(?). Despite my memory being blurry to the point it's hard to pinpoint things i don't have any gaps and seems i'm almost always present despite who is in front so i don't know whenever it's all in my demented imagination or not and i'm afraid of bringing it up or even acting differently than my usual around friends.

ua-cam.com/video/XIQM6x0RteU/v-deo.htmlsi=va4iecr2dWNkX9x6 ; sounds like a median system to me. You don’t have to have 100% unique alters to have DID or OSDD, though- and oftentimes, alters will instinctively pretend to be the host until they’re given space and time to be themselves. Furthermore, sounds like you’re experiencing nonpossessive switches- where it feels like you “become” a different alter rather than being “taken over” by one.

Great video! We love these tips, and definitely agree. We have come across some of them naturally, being fairly new to our diagnosis and just feeling things out and living life, and some of these tips via professionals we've worked with who've given great counsel about coping with D.I.D. Thank you for adding that there's no need to try to live as if you are neurotypical. Find what works for you if it helps (lol like copious notes to help us remember things if we don't write it down it never happened or won't happen). That's okay. We have to remember that daily.
Grounding! That was awesome! Thank you for the list of tips. There were some we'd never seen or thought of that we'd like to add to our toolbox. We've agree that there isn't a "right" way to ground just helpful guidelines. Modify them to help you and your system.
For example, a therapist we worked with recommended (and validated our approach) to grounding. We have a big toolbox because different head mates find different things to be grounding, so we don't struggle as much with what to do (yeah...breathing doesn't help all of us either). But we struggle mightily to stop what we're doing to take a few minutes to ground. So this therapist recommended a more intuitive approach. Use items that subtly remind you to ground and is a more intuitive part of our life which allows practice so that the skill is there when we need it (she used the example of her air freshener when it put out a scent she could smell it and would do so mindfully...thus grounding herself). We thought that was brilliant and validating because we feared we were doing it wrong by not following recommended structured twice daily and as needed grounding sessions. So, we made grounding tools out of things we do daily already. Mindfully washing dishes or cooking. Wearing our favorite stones and jewelry that are grounding or weightier. Wearing grounding scents and essential oils. :).

Idk whether I’m actually a system or not… I’m not diagnosed with DID or OSDD but sometimes I can communicate with other people in my head?? I can’t tell whether I’m doing that on purpose or something though (I feel like I’d know if I was though…) it’s confusing. Idek whether I experienced trauma as a child or not, I was always really lonely and sort of outcasted in kindergarten and primary school, I did make some friends!! But still was sorta the outcast mostly due to autism I think (been diagnosed since 4 yrs old and found out at 5). I’ve also dealt with body image issues since I was about 8-9 which is the same age I started using the internet and watching yters like Onision (which probably contributed to the body image issues…) but I don’t think it counts 😭😭 so yea. It’s confusing idk what’s contributing to me being able to communicate with people in my head (the people have different names n pronouns too also they r mostly based off of fictional characters) or my name, style, pronouns, music tastes, interests etc. changing a lot helpp. Also I don’t experience amnesia really though there are gaps in my memory mostly my childhood I think that’s normal though.
