  • Its crazy how much better the bike looks with one of these fitted. As long as you have the right tools, this isn't as hard a job as you might think, just give yourself a day to play it safe
    R&G Tail Tidy - www.rg-racing.com/browsebike/S...
    R&G Micro Indicators - www.rg-racing.com/browsetype/I...
    1. Disable your alarm if you have one
    2. Remove the seat
    3. Remove the 4 grab rail bolts and remove the grab rail
    4. Remove the 2 side panel bolts and remove the side panels
    5. Remove the 4 fasteners/push rivets
    6. Unhook the seat lock cable
    7. Disconnect tail light, indicators and licence plate illuminator
    8. Remove the seat tail cover
    9. Remove the rubber chord holding the ECU in place and rest ECU on the frame - You do not need to unplug it
    10. Remove the 4 battery box cover bolts/screws from under the bike and remove the battery box cover
    11. Remove the 2 bolts holding the front of the under tray in place
    12. Remove the 2 bolts holding the rear of the under tray in position
    13. Remove the under tray - be careful as some models may have a fuse holder that needs to be disconnected and re reconnected later
    14. If you are using the original indicators, remove them from the old licence plate holder
    15. Prepare the new under tray by fitting the indicators to the licence plate holder - Insert rubber grommets if there are any holes
    16. Fit the anti-splash guard to the under tray using the 3 plastic rivets
    17. Fit the new licence plate illuminator
    18. Wrap all new cables in the heat shrink provided and head with heat gun/hairdryer
    19. Fit the licence plate holder to the under tray using the 4 new bolts and washers
    20. Fit the new under tray using the 4 original bolts - check all wires are routed in the same way as before
    21. Using 2 new bolts and 2 old bolts secure the battery box cover
    22. Place ECU back in position and secure with rubber chord
    23. Position the seat tail cover in place
    24. Reconnect the break light/tail light, licence plate illuminator and indicators with new connectors
    25. Refit the seat tail cover using original push rivets
    26. Refit both side panels
    27. Refit seat lock cable
    28. Resit the grab rail using the 4 original bolts
    29. Refit Seat
    30. Refit licence plate - holes may need to be drilled
    31. Test everything is working as expected

    I just ordered the R&G Tail Tidy for my Suzuki GSF1250S Bandit 2009. I was just looking at a few videos to get an idea what I was going to encounter and much to my surprise the GSX650 seems to have the exact same rear end as my Bandit. So you could alter the title or add some tags for GSF1250S Bandit. These instructions will be a life saver for me over the holiday break when I install the tidy. Thanks for the video! You saved me many headaches, I'm very sure.

    good job mate, that was one hell of an informative video, and an almost perfect reference for me, when I'm gonna attempt this on my GSF:P I went for a slightly different undertray though, but no matter still heaps better than that massive ducktail of the original one:D combining that with the pyramid carbon hugger, it is going to lift the bike tenfolds in the rear:D

    hey man, great videos! I'm about to get this exact model and its really handy seeing someone else go through all the motions. Can you possibly upload a video showing a full spark plug switch (yep, seen the vid you've uploaded where it didn't go quite as planned), oil change, sprocket and chain & exhaust replacement? Lot to ask I know but hey, worth a shot
    +1 sub from me!

    • @CJMPH
      @CJMPH  7 років тому

      Thanks mate, appreciate that. Haha, yeah I will be doing the complete spark plug change soon now that people have said where I went wrong :) Already done the oil change (that was one of my first uploads). Chain and sprocket is one I definitely want to do and a few people have asked for it.... I am just waiting until mine needs doing as its not a cheap job and I don't have all the tools yet, I imagine it will be later in the year that I make that one. Exhaust replacement, I probably wont change mine as its already got an aftermarket one installed and when I tried to take the end can off, the bolt was rusted solid so it would probably cause me more problems to cut the bolt im afraid. Sorry I cant help more but hopefully the oil change is a start before I get the spark plugs done :)

    • @Razuki
      @Razuki 7 років тому +1

      @@theawsomist7693 if you add a separate mud guard it will better, but many of them are just designed for aesthetic purposes and do not do the work pretty well. The stock fenders/mud guards use to be the best on its job.
      Also mudguards are more focused on preventing mud accumulation on suspension, wheels, etc.. but not to prevent the splattering of all the water protected from the wheel into your back

    do you have problems in wet weather? I mean do you get sprayed when riding on wet roads, after removing fender?

    • @CJMPH
      @CJMPH  7 років тому

      +TheBalija1 It's not great weather here in the UK but the summer is alright. Rode it in the rain a few times and it hasn't sprayed on me at all, the seat cowl does get a bit more dirt on it thought.... that said, my ride to work isn't very far and I don't go over 60mph because of the towns I ride through so it might be worse in heavy rain and riding at speed

    • @TheBalija1
      @TheBalija1 7 років тому +1

      CJ Thanx for quick reply. Planing to do same mod on my bike, this was the only thing worrying me. You said seat gets sprayed a little bit, so if I had passenger she would get sprayed a little bit too? noting too much?

    • @CJMPH
      @CJMPH  7 років тому +1

      +TheBalija1 I can't say for certain because I don't ride with a passenger and would hate to be the reason yours gets sprayed lol. But no, I don't think it would be too bad :)

    Hi CJ, great vides, thank you for posting them. I also have gsx650f and videos are really helping me in doing maintenance for the first time myself. Btw have you changed coolant liquid for your bike? I tried to go as manual suggests and disconnect the water pump outlet hose (see point 3) on the picture ibb.co/jAs9vk ),i did loosen the hose clip(rounded in red on the pic.) but the hose is sitting there so tight and there is almost no place to do anything, so i couldn't take it off. i I could have tried to take it off somehow with screwdriver and hammer, but i am not sure if i am able to put it back after that. It would be easier way to take off the hose which is going directly from radiator (ibb.co/nQFMrQ , i took the screenshot from one of your videos, to show where it is located, hope it is ok.), but i am not sure if it is proper way of doing it.

    • @CJMPH
      @CJMPH  7 років тому

      Hi Sergei, thank you, thats always nice to hear. I havent actually changed the coolant liquid, funnily enough, someone else has asked about this one so I may need to give it a try sometime soon. I wouldn't recommend using a hammer and screwdriver unless you really need to, I have caused more damage than good before by doing that with parts.... I imagine its just really well stuck on there because it hasn't been removed for so long.I will try to have a look at my hose tomorrow and see if I can work anything out and I'll get back to you if thats kl?

      Invest in a Haynes service manual for your bike. Usually around $25 US and they are absolutely essential for working on the bike properly without making mistakes or doing unnecessary steps.
