I just did an AFM delete on my L83. I chose a LT5 cam though. It's bigger than the stock cam but still smaller than most aftermarket ones. I used the same torque wrench doing mine. The block off plugs I used have a small threaded blind hole so they can easily be removed with a slide hammer. I kept single springs because of the smaller cam. I used a set from BTR that work with the LT5 cam. Man getting that timing chain on right is a pain. It took me 4 tries to get it correct. Done quite a few cam changes and those are the worst.
Just did one. I recommend getting a 4 or 5-inch bolt and putting the phaser on then threading in the bolt. Now you have something to pull towards you or leverage against when pushing the phaser and there is no mistaking that you have the dowel lined up after that.

How much for a completed 5.3 gen 5, l83 with dod delete, Rocker trunion upgrade, stage 2 btr cam, cam phaser limiter, l86 6.2 intake and throttle body, computer programmed, wire harness rework, 10l8oe transmission. Turn key setup?

Yep we have made a tool to help but yep the dowel on the cams are small and lining up can be a real pain
