I can’t tell you how excited this makes me! For years I have been wishing for Kentmere in 120 format. I do my bulk loading with Kentmere but find that most of my photography these days is in 120 and 4 x 5. Kentmere looks great and pushes like a champ. Hey, Ilford, how about a little 4 x 5 action now?

I Never tried Kentmere because it's always marketed as a "starter" film. After seeing your prints, I really want to try it, especially in my Yashica LM.
We originally launched the Kentmere films and targeted them at students and education as they are more budget friendly but have since found that they've been welcomed by a whole range of photographers.
Going by some of the comments, It's sounding like Kentmere 400 is just the low-fi film that I'm looking for. Good sold emulsion base and gritty grain when you want it. I only shoot 35mm film and sometimes I just want that textured grain look.

Have used the Kentmere 100/400 35mm in the past -- as an economy move, but the results had a nice "mid-century" B&W home-photo feel. Not as full of midtones as early B&W film, but not as "crispy" as the TriX I grew up with. Nice for portraits (even of seagulls!). Can't wait to use the 120 size!
Thanks for this Roger, I have seen a few reviews of the new format on UA-cam but few are from people who do their own developing or printing. It's really valuable to see how it performs in the darkroom. I have been using Xtol for Kentmere 35mm with really good results btw.
I was happy that Illford made this commitment. I actually love Kentmere film quite a bit. My favorite B&W is still Kodak T-max or Illford Delta. However, I use lots of other films and Kentmere is still one of my favorite experimental films.
