ilford’s currently my favorite film giant, they’re keeping the community and art of film photography alive imo
Thank you :) Not sure how giant we are though!
@@Ilfordphoto
What would I be without Ilford film and Paper 👍
@@Ilfordphoto If you made a small yearly batch of Kentmere 100 in 620 format (same film size as 120, but thinner film spool,) that would be lovely. Hint1 Hint! :)
Thank you so much for this Roger. This kept a smile on our faces all the way through. Great, interesting review and good to see the images turned out well!
Thanks guys!
This is great! First Kodak Gold, and now this. Film is alive and well👍
I was JUST COMPLAINING that i really didn't like Arista and was sad Kentmere wasn't in 120, and here you go making my day! This is awesome news!
We are mind readers here :)
Ilford's awesome - from film to paper and chemicals. Fantastic to have another budget 120 BW film. All great quality stuff. I've gone through more than one tin of Kentmere 100 and have some more in the freezer. Oh, and that Yashica produces some really nice images ;-)
The sub-liminal work is 'Kentmere'...... I saw it and heard it everywhere - well done Ilford and Roger
Ilford are awesome. Love shooting their films.
Thank you :)
@@Ilfordphoto 04/2023: Kentemere in 120 is almost 7€... 30,5m of HP5+ is about 115-120€, about two times the price it was 2-3 years ago...
I lovED shooting your films, not anymore, until you lower your indecent prices...
@@luc5798 Hi Luc - Unfortunately as our costs increase we have to pass on some increases to our customers. We're all film shooters ourselves and don't like it when prices go up. The Kentmere films are generally cheaper than the ILFORD brand, have you shot these?
I’ve been using Kentmere 135 for quite awhile now, and Ilford HP5 120 they both have served me well so far, Kentmere 120 ? Luv it, I like the fact that film photography is moving in a positive direction. Thank you Ilford. And thank you for all the great you tubing…
Thanks for showing us your work making the prints. I appreciate the work you put into your videos.
Thanks Larpy!
I can’t tell you how excited this makes me! For years I have been wishing for Kentmere in 120 format. I do my bulk loading with Kentmere but find that most of my photography these days is in 120 and 4 x 5. Kentmere looks great and pushes like a champ. Hey, Ilford, how about a little 4 x 5 action now?
Good value 120 film? Excellent news from Ilford - Our Friends in the North.
Thanks for the review. Don't have a "Yashica" but do have my Dad's old Rollie that I could use the 120 in!
Great news from Ilford and as you say adds confidence in the future of film photography.
Ah always wanted this in 120 haha ah yes those comments were quite funny the 35mm version was my main film to use when testing cameras and for projects was super fun film
The subtle message was either „Hare krishna“ or „Yashica“, Yashica was the most subtle, so I think that‘s it. Thanks Roger!
YASHICA flashed up on Left Hand Side -- hope I'm LUCKY I need some 'FRESH FILLUM' for a Change !!
Going by some of the comments,
It's sounding like Kentmere 400 is just the low-fi film that I'm looking for. Good sold emulsion base and gritty grain when you want it. I only shoot 35mm film and sometimes I just want that textured grain look.
Yashica .... and I will be using mine to try this too ...
Excellent news about the release in 120, your review also excellent
Thanks John, yes it's good news
This is really exciting news absolutely brilliant news really it’s not a new formula but it’s a new format for us medium format photographers
Prints using a condenser head like a Besseler 23 give such an amazing grain!!!
It’s the film that gives the grain, the head just magnifies it.
Great work Roger, I will be definitely trying this out. Thank you
It’s great news
Great news ❤🎉 might get myself a TLR medium format camera on eBay and some of this kentmere 120 film
When I heard this, I became so excited, I use Kentmere in my 35mm camera, allways wanted it in 120. It is my favorite film, at least in 35mm. Cant waite to try it out.
Haha.... Yashica... Sitting in bed replaying and replying small parts the video on my small screen phone... Wife giving me the evils and an elbow because I have the sound on! Love the channel.
😂😂 apologises to your Wife
Great news - and great video. Can't wait to try it out myself.
I Never tried Kentmere because it's always marketed as a "starter" film. After seeing your prints, I really want to try it, especially in my Yashica LM.
We originally launched the Kentmere films and targeted them at students and education as they are more budget friendly but have since found that they've been welcomed by a whole range of photographers.
Looks good Roger, I like the tones, will have to try some.
Great video as always Roger. Good news re the kentmere in 120 and the photo of Jess is superb. The word is Yashica.
I can't wait to run some of this through my YASHICA mat. I shot a rebranded 35mm roll and was blown away by it. Fab video as always
This is fantastic! Now we need some one to make an all new quality film camera.
Great job Roger, really appreciate being able to see what these look like, and you made them look fantastic. My rolls from Ilford arrived yesterday, definitely looking forward to getting out with them to give them a go 👍👍
Cool, enjoy!
That’s awesome that kentmere is now available on 120. That’s great!!!!
YASHICA
Nice video and pictures, and a good tip, Roger! I'll try it out!
I am so happy to hear they are bringing Kentmere to 120 format. I love the 35mm, just bought 2x 10 roll packs last week of ASA100. I do enjoy Ilford films, its excellent to have another film to use in 120.
Nice YASHICA camera you have there! Love your prints too. I've been working on building my darkroom for about 7 months now, I made my first prints in it in the past couple of weeks. Your channel has been one of my major inspirations in making it happen. I'm so excited :) Thanks for your channel, it's great!
Nice one! Hope it all goes well for you
This makes me so happy!!
Absolutely great news. Some time ago I find myself using almost only ilford (Fomapan, Rollei and Bergger are still on my list but much less in use than ilford.) So, to have some additional and not expensive stuff is a bonus. :-) And your results are a great example of the quality of Kentmere.
Thanks Victor
Love that YASHICA twin lens reflex of yours, I have one as well and I’m looking forward to trying the Kentmere 120 in it.
Definitely going to be getting some of this in 120 !!!
Really happy to see it.
Yashica - Turned out quite nice with that cam. Will consider trying it out next film order for my Rollei. I've just finished shooting for the first time BW (120 TriX 400) and am preparing to develop and make prints on my own thanks to your channel covering everything from start to finish. Very much appreciate the education and entertainment, Roger.
Nice one Mike. Try-x is an awesome film! Hope it turns out well
You talking to yourself / twin was perfect. Nice work!
😂
Great job, Boss. I'm glad you got to include the Buddha head again 🙂 Yashica!
It's a pen pot when it's not working on the channel
Great to see you've gone back to the normal format video we all enjoy! (Video, how old am I, nothing else sounded right 😊)
I bought my first TLR a few months back and toy'd with the YASHICA 😉 but ended up purchasing a Minolta Autocord, definitely my favourite camera yet!
Keep up the great work!
Thanks for this Roger, I have seen a few reviews of the new format on UA-cam but few are from people who do their own developing or printing. It's really valuable to see how it performs in the darkroom. I have been using Xtol for Kentmere 35mm with really good results btw.
Cheers Kieran.
You don't get unwanted scratches on the film as you can with Foma. The 400 is actually 400. Like you I have already used it on 35mm.
Yes, that’s a very valid point about the Fomapan.
Always great to see new film options - I’m definitely going to give this a try! Oh and YASHICA! 😂
Changed your name!
@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss my alter ego! 😂
I love my 'Yashica' Its the camera that got me hooked on film 🙂
Have used the Kentmere 100/400 35mm in the past -- as an economy move, but the results had a nice "mid-century" B&W home-photo feel. Not as full of midtones as early B&W film, but not as "crispy" as the TriX I grew up with. Nice for portraits (even of seagulls!). Can't wait to use the 120 size!
I like both of them but I prefer 400... Great presentation again - thank you for sharing!
Great news Im a long time Ilford photographer but never tried their Kentmere films. I will be doing that. I have a YASHICA A that will be perfect.
YASHICA
So excited to more supply of film!
Great vid! Working on getting my darkroom setup after Christmas! Love to shoot on all my film cameras, but y YASHICA 8-t is my favorite cine camera
Yashica. Had to rewatch, didn't even notice it first time. Had to go over several times to make it out.
YASHICA. Thanks for the review, looking forward to shooting it.
Looking forward to trying it out.
Yashica. Also one of my favorite TLR cameras.
YASHICA - thanks for the video and thanks ilford for getting this stock out in medium format
I need to get a new rear lens group in my “YASHICA “ 124G ( fungus in the cemented lens group unfortunately) and then try this film out . Great video Roger and well done Ilford for bring this film out for the film community.
Thanks for all your videos! YASHICA
I just bought 4 rolls of 400 in 35mm to see if would switch from fomapan. All the reviews said it's great film but no 120. Foma quality just wasn't there in 120. Now kentmere in 120 could be the go to. Thanks.
Awesome news! Two films I really like a lot! The print of Jess looks fantastic.
Thanks Epstar
I was happy that Illford made this commitment. I actually love Kentmere film quite a bit. My favorite B&W is still Kodak T-max or Illford Delta. However, I use lots of other films and Kentmere is still one of my favorite experimental films.
As a casual shooter new film budget film is great, especially coming from Ilford.
Lots of great vintage 120 cameras out there -- but you can't beat a YASHICA 😁😁😁😁
I can't wait to use this film and if it turns out well, it could be my favorite film.
Secret word is YASHICA Really glad some new film is hitting the market and I have never used Kentmere so I am anxious to give it a go with my Autocord. I never could really see much difference between budget and pro film. This might be a nice replacement for Utrafine Extreme which I liked when it was available! Wasn't it rumored to be Kentmere?
I had a few rolls of that Ultra once sent to me from the states. I thought the whole package, box, foil, film, felt like Ilford. Who knows.
Yashica! Another great video, I actually really liked the seagull shot. Just a fun walk about shot, makes me want to get out to Lake Ontario tomorrow to shoot gulls. Inspiring.
Cheers, Gord
Cheers Gord
Would like to test those two films with Xtol, HC110 and Rodinal developers to see the difference in the grain.
How about 510 Pyro? 👀
LOL
I have a few rolls of 100 in the fridge, looking forward to trying it. I have shot Kentmere in 35mm before and I liked it so I have high hopes for the 120.
The curve in 100 between kentmere and fp4 are almost identical. Thanks Roger!
Thanks. Was that your own test?
Great results!!! I am excited by it in 120, use it a lot in 35mm!!!
Yes it's a game changer I think Brine for MF shooters on budget. Even if not.
And now I just placed a pre-order for two rolls of each!
Thank you - for your information and these really nice photographs! I am very nosy to try the new film! Best wishes!
Thank you! You too!
Great to be able to put Kentmere in a YASHICA 😉 twin lens reflex camera.
A Yashica TLR is on my wish list.... of course. Nice shots, as always. Just developed 3 rolls of my son's wedding I wasn't the photographer for it though...I vowed NEVER another wedding...ROFL Waiting for B&H to get their order for the 120 Kentmore.
Hope they can out well for you and your family
Great fun listening and watching your Channel as always and learning a lot. Seems YASHICA is favourite Thanks
Thanks
I use the original “ Yashica Mat “ and love it. No batteries to worry about.
Looking forward to try this out!
and also 'Yashika' ?
yashica - a great camera for some great films. Thanks for this super quick review. Can’t wait to get a few rolls in mine!
Thx; I will try when the Kentmere will be available in Germany.
Excellent news. I hope they do it in 4X5 and 5X7 too.
That would be nice Lensman!
@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss Yes, it would be and Ilford deserve much support in that they stuck by film photographers and carried on producing top class material during the heydays of digital when people like Kodak and Fuji shut shop and Agfa decided that it wasn't worth carrying on.
@@lensman5762 Very True!!
YASHICA.
I will definitely be trying this film out in 120. So nice to have some more film stocks available in medium format.
Great video as usual
Thanks Marika
YASHICA has some iconic TLRs - one day I hope to own one. I do have a YASHICA X-3 though, which is one of my favorite 35mm SLRs....YASHICA :)
Yashica. Mustn’t blink to see it.
This is interesting. First Gold 200 from Kodak and now both of the Kentmeres from Harman, three non-professional films previously only available in 35 mm now also being made in 120.
good job
YASHICA! I use delta 100 a lot and would love to see how this film compares to that film
WOW! now I'm greedy!!
Yashica Bryan Laskowsky
Yashica!
I've never tried Kentmere (knowingly anyway) so this is very exciting! Lovely results as always Roger!
Hey Tim!
@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss Cheers Roger! Thanks for the vid! I only saw Yashica once haha but it confused me greatly when I did until I got to the end ;)
I wish I also had a YASHICA Mat but I did just get an Autocord as my first tlr.
Yashica Ernst-Jan de Vries
I vaguely remember reading somewhere that Kentmere film is actually the offcuts of Ilford film batches - they tend to be slightly lower tolerance than mid batch Ilford so the offcuts are rebranded as Kentmere and sold cheaper - by all the accounts the two films are identical so huge thanks to Ilford for passing these cost savings to the consumer - Yashica I believe Roger
I think thats just a rumour Peter. I can't think how they would manufacture off cuts accurately and faff about with machine costs that has to push the off cuts to one side, re spool etc. It's a budget film with less silver content I believe.
This is definitely not correct. We coat and manufacture the Kentmere films as we do the ILFORD ones. They have their own emulsion etc :)
YASHICA GREAT videos 👍🍻
Yashica
Keep up the good work:)
Having information that, Ilford has starting to produce Kentmere 100 and 400 120 roll film. And your results with them are wonderful. And your YASHICA camera is gorgius. Greetings from Istanbul.
Thanks 👍
