Just started developing my own bw film and did my first couple of prints in my darkroom I built into my tiny bathroom and really enjoying it so far! Obviously you and your channel have been a huge influence and showed me how much fun the process coud be. So would love those Agfa rolls to try some more stuff with developing and printing. I've got a roll of 120 Ilford Selachrome that expired in September 1951. It wasn't originally 120 but I had it rerolled onto 120 for my Mamiya C3. Just tring to find the right time to shoot it, likely I'll bracket 4x3 shots to give myself a chance of getting something. All my other 120 is expired but it generally works out okay.

Island line, Sandown Station... Occupational hazards of a railway engineer 😅
I have come across several expired rolls and bulk film. From my experience b&w is usually usable if stored in normal conditions. The lower the iso and the higher the silver content the better.
I have also a nice collection of expired film bought new over 15 years ago and frozen since. Except in ISO800 films there is no fogging not loss of speed.
Congratulations for your videos, you have a great attitude towards photography that really is contagious 😊

Hmmm, that would be the Island Line, but the station underpass appears to be sporting the Southern Railway green. Post grouping but before nationalisation, as the Island's railway was absorbed into the Southern with the creation of 'The Big Four', one for the train nerds I guess.
Back in the day, mid to late '80s' into the early '90s' I shot Agfa APX50, now that was a contrasty beast, usable on 120 but a little too extreme for 35mm format, or at least that was my takeaway.
When I started my photographic journey as a child I shot everything on Agfa CT18, a 50iso colour slide film. It taught you how to expose correctly, a vety tight exposure latitude on that stuff, fantastic picture quality though!

Island Line. Those results are lovely! Speaking of Silvermax, I grabbed some of the last batch from Adox. I've been trying to sort out when/how to use it. Sort of my problem with expired films. I'm leery of using them for something super important but then don't want to waste them just farting around. I have some ancient Panatomic-X that I know was stored frozen for decades but same kinda thing. Not quite sure how to approach those since I have a limited number of rolls. I've heard Panatomic-X holds up really well though (if frozen).

I have bag of expired film to work through, picked it up for very little money so wasn’t too bothered that I had no idea how it was stored. Just developed the first roll , Tudor colour 35mm which seems to be very usable although the base is darker than it should be. I’m more confident to use more from the bag having seen promising results from roll one. There is colour and black and white too, in 35 and 120. Going to keep me busy for a while

The train line is Island Line, but the name of the railway company is South Western Railway. Back in the 90s I was shooting film and always wanted to get into medium format, but I was young and couldn't afford a medium format camera system. Then digital came along and killed film so I stopped photographing in the early 2000s, until a couple of years ago. I finally bought a digital camera and after looking further into the current film market decided to finally make my old dreams a reality. I decided on a Mamiya 645 pro to start off with and black and white is my preferred medium.

I shot a couple rolls of 8 year expired drug store brand color film once that had been stored in a cars glove box for most of that time. I was amazed! And good visual explanation on overexposing the first frame to verify your development time. I shoot a lot of expired film. From 1960’s to early 2000’s getting mixed results. I can’t remember where I read it but the rule of thumb in shooting expired film is adjust a stop per decade but I kind of base it around if I know how the film was stored as well. Also mostly using a Yashicamat 124g coincidentally.

When i bought my latest bronica sq-a i got a roll of 20 year expired HP-5. Shot it and developed it, the paper backing stuck to the film so it made this really old looking texture effect, was pretty cool. I bought a 100' roll of Kodak ortho film that expired in 1979. It was ISO (ASA, actually) 12. My camera only went to 25, so I had to push it a stop for that, plus I did the stop per decade thing. It actually turned out really well, except super contrasty (which I expected with ortho film). I'm always up for expired film, but for anything critical I won't use it, unless I have new film as well.

Hey, my comment made it into the video!! I believe the name of the rail company is the Island Line? I just spent some time in the UK earlier this month, and I still don’t understand all the different rails and lines… I just took whatever the maps app told me to take 😝

Kodak TriX produces the same purple colouring to the used developer.
I've been led to believe that this is due to an anti-halation coating being removed by the development process.
Maybe the earlier film has the coating, whereas the newer version doesn't?

Looks like "Island Line" to me as well! I'm in California so if you're not wanting to ship that far, no worries! I just got my Ansco Viking camera light tight and the lens ready to go. My Viking is virtually set up with the same lens that your AGFA Record camera. I'm hoping I get the same quality you did in the farm video! Cheers!

I've recently shot some APX expired in 2010, and it gave very satisfactory results
