In the past few years, listening bars have cropped up in cities across Europe. Taking inspiration from Japan's culture of audiophile venues, these spots put a unique twist on a long-standing tradition, creating an environment for discovering music that appeals to hi-fi obsessives and casual listeners alike.
Step inside Brilliant Corners and you may at first believe yourself to be in a bar and sushi restaurant. But look closely-at the wooden Klipsch speakers, the one-of-a-kind DJ mixer and the glowing McIntosh amps-and you'll realize this East London spot is dedicated to a presenting music as pristinely as possible. In fact, it's one of the city's best listening bars.

[Series] Japan's hidden listening bars
We are exploring Japan's rich culture of listening bars and audiophile venues. It's a culture rooted in the joy of discovering music, and listening to that music in the best possible environment-that means precision-made speakers, amps, turntables and mixers. Tucked away in basements, back-alleys and high-rise buildings, these bars come in different shapes and sizes, but they are united by their pursuit of quality, with owners endlessly fine-tuning their audio setups to create an enriching experience for anyone who visits. These are wonderful settings for people to share their love of music, serving as a "third place"-somewhere to unwind in between their time at work and home. Though they're the result of long-standing traditions, listening bars offer a glimpse into progressive Japan, one of the world's most vibrant places for music discovery.

Yes yes! Villalobos predicted and fantasised of a similar idea years ago in his RA interview. All the points are spot on with the guys, we need more of great sound systems, and places like this.
Awesome to see music culture evolving
the fact that Listening bars are opening in London is immense. See you down there.
I just found this channel and I love it. Keep this content coming please and than-you very much.
Jordan Lee Their videos are much better than the writing (the reviews are an absolute joke).

Surprised this one is so much shorter than all the other Listening bar videos.

wish only these bars / coffee stores exists in Melbourne, Australia
cool
Ok so how does this work? Honest question... The party at the end, did this happen in Brilliant Corners? Are listening pubs just like a normal club with better sounr systems on a more intimate setting? Genuinely curious on how the concept works.
No i think that was at Giant Steps, a club owned by the same owners, that had just recently closed- sometimes people dance at Brilliant Corners too
They have giant steps which was open during a bit in the summer. It’s a project by them as well and they host other nights such as Beauty and the beat. This is a restaurant they started that has an amazing sound system and they have DJs that play as well it’s open usually until 12 and they go all night sometimes and turns into more of a bar than restaurant later on . It’s amazing I would highly reccomend checking it out.
How do you porject sound OVER the speech noise?
Music in a bar, such innovation much wow
So it’s a bar restaurant with a DJ? Some more explanation would’ve been nice
It’s a listening bar. It’s like going to the IMAX theater but here it’s with a sound system/sound and not film like a theater.
a bar with a soundsystem that won't leave your ears screaming and hurting the night during & after haha
“HD sound systems”, THEY don’t rely on VOLUME, rather BALANCED FREQUENCIES.... YOU “FEEL” THE MUSIC
Honestly... you would never understand
Shout out to Hosoi in Stockholm.
Idle Hour in Baltimore.
Anyone know the track at the end? Cheers
jack jacobs - I believe it’s alright
@@matthewy393 cheers brother

Shout out to hosoi, stockholm. Check it
Second that! Would love to see an episode on Hosoi
Ha! I have had a listening corner with a bar in my home for donkey’s years.
When I want peace and quiet I just stick on a vinyl record and annoy my neighbors who annoy me first.
Never fails to get some peace and quiet in my home.
And for that ultimate cornerstone ( pardon the pun ) of quietness, my Aston & Kern mp3 paired with my Bowers & Wilkins headset will block out everything that was intended to molest my surroundings.
I go to a bar to be entertained, socialize and hear what I don’t want to, in my home...Harmonious noise!
Get outta’ here with that fad!
We used to have places like bars/vinyl listening stations in DC. Used to. Until corrupt 45’speople & their kind came around n gentrified it.
F
A listening bar....and everyone is talking....what am I missing here....?
