Real Scenes: Paris | Resident Advisor
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 гру 2012
- A few years ago The New York Times and Le Monde were declaring the death of clubbing in Paris. It was a dark moment for a city that has at times stood alongside London, New York and Berlin as one of the capitals of electronic music. With names like Laurent Garnier, Daft Punk and Justice leading the way, Paris has seemingly always been a flashpoint for a unique spin on house and techno.

This documentary is really good, but watchers beware !
As a parisian I can tell you it is completely outdated, parties are flourishing, especially in the suburbs, techno collectives multiply and clubs are really making efforts to keep up with the best lineups.
I love partying in Paris and I wish many clubs will continue to appear, to satisfy this big vague of youngsters that skim the night life
These documentaries are brilliant. RA have done a great job!
A scene is just an expanding group of like-minded people, growing and inspiring each other. I think we forget that too often.
That subtle transition edit at 3:01 was sweet
Andrew the film making on this channel is next level.
This channel has reacquainted me with my love of house music
this is fantastic, keep the videos coming!
These videos are excellent. Very well done!
These documentaries really bring my spirit back up... And most of all, they actually make me want to travel there to check some of these places out - i think it would be pretty inspiring (at least for me). Great job RA. !! we want more of these :D
btw. i really didnt know that Paris was in such a "weird" state as a party city - i just thought they were more into electro, kind of daft punk and justice type of thing - maybe a little selfcentered but... How wrong was i
Well thus actually changed my mind about that city, I've travelled in many EU cities to discover the dance scene and Paris never came up to my mind for partying... Looks like cool and open minded people decided to act and create scenes, I fucking love it :)
We have a pretty big following in the East coast in nj nyc and Philly we plan on hopping in a van this summer and driving from nyc to Seattle doing raves along the way we fully believe we are at the forefront of something crazy would love to sit down with RA and speak more about it peace love unity and respect - ncs
The full tracklist can be found in the credits at the end of the film.
Resident Advisor Brilliant! But please add time stamps. Us geeks need DETAILED information!
lol I like the little fuck room at 17:00
very good! thanks a lot
what people need to understand is that the peripherique is considered a fucking wall separating 2 worlds (2:56). And crossing this frontier is mentally very difficult, you go OUT of the city. Nothing like going from manhattan to bk, almost more like going from manhattan to new jersey. It's a big fucking mental gap
These are amazing ! But I would say add some diversity in genres, maybe some electronic hip hop because that’s been getting really popular in London and Paris
Good for them, great work; hope things continue on the up and up for the Paris guys & gals.
Please do real scenes Stockholm or Zurich!
amazing ❤️❤️❤️RA❤️❤️❤️
@11:25 He was waiting for himself. He had to become the one he was looking for. I also loved the listening party.
What make a scene is: music, venues, parties and the people, the only problem about the scene in Paris is: the people and their vibe! but about music it's amazing having more that 20 top of the list dj's in 1 night/day!
Ma foi, cette capsule temporelle est super intéressante, et ce serait encore plus intéressant de faire une mise à jour de tout ça !
it's crazy how much it changed since this was filmed
it's interesting watching this a decade later & seeing people mention how it was 5 years ago. now 2023. wonder how the scene is now.
That last track is absolutely sublime.
Antigone - Menace of the species ( Concrete Music)
Your welcome man! ;) It's a tune from the Ashppe's forthcoming debut Lp on Unc Audio! Preview on our soundcloud and his with another tunes from the lp! Big up from paris!
H330- Peace Of Groove : Where can I find it / buy it plz ? Not on concreterecords :(
oh :D thank you very much !
I like the meetup where they listen to each other's music. Might get one started in Dublin YEH:))
It's insane watching this now, the scene in Paris has absolutely EXPLODED, and Concrete turned out to be one of the first examples of this.
Exploded? As in it got big or a lot?
The vibe in Toronto is like this now too. Not enough live music, noise complaints.
Toronto has sadly lost so much of its vibe...with so many venues closing and few people who genuinely care enough to invest their time, energy, money in to building something really lasting and amazing. Even before Covid, there was already little left...and the shift towards more creative underground spaces is definitely where it’s at.
excelent!!!
Love it
when we began the raves for apple in san francisco - free parties - where everything was free, wonderful food, best music in the usa at the time, even drugs! we would throw it once per year and invite all of our friends - and give anyone who needed work some work for awhile. i would get my friend Kairo / Lupus to organize the music and entertainment and ole and i would do the food. i got to stay a whole week at the best rock 'n roll hotel in the city - a large suite. it was soo much fun! i learned that when you hand out over 500 hits of acid w/ your bare hands, you get very high for many days!! i was tripping w/ bands like yo la tengo around the pool all night long - at the Phoenix, circa 1993-97.
many actors and musicians would come. i remember running out to let Jerry Garcia in - he'd been waiting in the drizzle for over an hour! they were the best parties in town - for years - till we began having the Diablo Drive House Raves! those were for only 500 people and folks would call us from all over the world to get invites - all year long. that was my place at the time.
Hi, me and my girlfriend are going on a roadtrip to Paris in a week, any tips for clubs we can visit for a good party ?
Chicago next?
Hope they do one on Sydney soon....
what a venue!!!!
13:30 track ID please, cant find it anywhere.
anyone know the track that plays at 14:12?
Unfortunately the Concrete has a shitty staff, usually good line ups though
Very cool. Way more people need to start stepping up and meeting about music like in the later part of this. sharing ideas and growing organically. I am so tired of the robotic facebook generation, it's showing in the music even from the most prolific cities.
Can you guys do one for Manila?
Paris is so so different since 2015/2016. You'll find many different style of electronic music, after parties, open air, new places outside the center and fuc*king incredible collectives of artists that never stop organizing cool events :) The underground scene is expanding...
For sure things have evolved there a lot since this doc was made. More underground creative events are happening ...I hit up a cool unconventional space called dehors brut where they host quite a lot of events - I flew there from London for Sebastian Mullaert and circle of live this past december and the vibe was proper and music fucking top notch (as expected with a line up like that). 👌🏻
8:33 chemtrails

ANY docu on electronic music in Paris should include Ivan Smagghe.... just based on the endless amount of influence he has had on so many more well known DJ's and producers.....

8:03 C'est le Fossoyeur de Films ???
Je crois bien, je me suis fait la même réflexion
It seems like everybody wants to hear the entirety of whatever song was at 14:01!
It's called "Vincent Desmont - Thrust It" it just released ! Enjoy :)
ID @ 10:00 PLEASE need those drums and that key in my life
You are the perfect example of what this documentary is all about. 05:40 the guy just said it, c'mon dude, just open your ears, you're not curious enough that's all, this is the point. I live in Paris since january, and I've been to the best underground parties of my life so far. I was going to tell you some names/events to look out for, but I think you just need to figure it out by your self, if that's what you really want, instead of complaining.
ha bist du cool du hipster du hast es als erster gemacht???? ey du hast auch als allererster auf der welt air max getragen??? boah ist ja krass alter wioe heftig.... krass bruder

*** The irony of a UA-cam post is not lost on me by the way, I am a top level internet bore.
and 12CLUB events, best underground party of early 2013 !
press 'more info' :)
Stockholm would be intresting, our scene is small but intresting because there is a family band that is unusual.
Stockholm is what berlin was in 1990.
except stockolm is sooooooooo expensive....
Or Vienna or Munich
Yea Paris really IS a scene in 2018
you mean Melbourne
some are true some are not
I forgot Chats perchés
guy gerber at 8:00
Me the perfect example? what a fool, you don't even know me. Famous showcase? best dj's worst crowd and staff, festivals? marvelous was packed with kids, Concrete after hours? decent. Dude I tried, but seriously I go even Miami over Paris, hands down, any day. Idk if you've been to real scenes so you can compare, but this city is definitely not one.
guy gerber?
go to Marrakesh the hidden techno city
marrakech techno scene is very posh
Hope of a rebirth
LA CONCRETE
Paris needs more Techno putain
Financial ruin is coming..........
MIAMI BEACH , , , CLUB -SALVATION was the start to Sunday mornings a party called church ,this was 25 years ago ! Jeffery SANKER. - started big events that where unheard of 25 years back PARIS YOUR 25 YEARS BEHIND . BLAIRKRUSEPHOTO.COM. SANKER is the king and started all this ...........
So 9 years on... can any Parisians comment on what the Techno scene is like in Paris today???
That's hard to describe, because nowdays, even the word "techno" seems to have a lot of meanings. But today Paris is curating a new wave of techno, a industrial one, merging with some trance groove and stuff
mother berlin brought good new party :)
