I get so excited when your videos hot my feed, LOL. I only started embracing that I actually have curls less than 2 years ago. But, since I found your channel, I have really leaned into it because I am finally learning how to take care of my unique hair. Before, it was like stylists telling me, "...just use (XXX) and it'll all be great", so I would but my hair would only be meh. No more! I feel like I am finally on my way to my best hair, and I even love that it's kinda like an ongoing science experiment, LOL. You give us all SO much power with your explanations. Thank you!
I used a drugstore curly girl shampoo and conditioner, but I don't think it was good for my fine hair because it literally straightened my hair. My hair was still healthy. It took about a month after I stopped using the brand to get any curls back. Sucks because it smelled soooo good. 😅
My last couple wash days have kind of turned out limp, one with a wet style, the other time damp styling. I thought it was first styling my hair too wet, then not wet enough, but I think this may be the issue! I'm usually pretty happy with my results, but I wasn't too keen to venture away from the pineapple these past two efforts 😅
I found that leave in conditioner was my worst enemy! It made my hair gummy and straw like, now just stick to shampoo, condition and style with a gel. Keep it simple
I'm a gardener so I wash it every night to get rid of the sweat and any ticks or chiggers. It makes my 58yo scalp too dry 😒.Then I tend to over-moisturize.
My hair is fine, thin, and naturally high porosity (not damaged). I tried the Aqua Gel and my hair felt and looked awful. In fact, I had some halo hairs stand almost straight up from my head! Wth? Based on what I know about my hair type I would think it would love the protein. Could it be that I need more moisture and less protein? I'm so confused about what my hair needs.
Are you sure it's high porosity since it's not damaged? Hairs sticking straight up is usually a lack of moisture in my experience. Doesn't mean that you shouldnt use protein, rather that you just need to add in moisture. So that would be a cream or leave-in + a gel.
@@GenaMarie Thanks! It acts like high porosity (wets very easily and dries fast). I sit under a hooded dryer for about 7 minutes on medium heat and it dries. I’ll experiment with leave-ins and different gels.
Hi Gena! So I had a baby 10 months ago and I think this is me? My curls are so soft and don’t bounce up. I have coarse medium to high porosity hair and my hair feels so unmanageable and different. Would this routine work for me too?
Mushy or gummy? What does that feel like? I’ve been told that my hair is very dry and needs moisture. Not protein. Yet, I’ve treated it for both when one does not help. My hair is still brittle and dry. I do color my hair. I’m in my sixties. I’m ready to go back to flat ironing my hair after 2-½ years of trying to embrace my curls. 😢
i'm currently in my second year of college and last year is when i noticed my hair rlly start to change. it's a lot softer and my curls always fall limp and frizzy when my gel cast breaks and it lacks volume. could this be because i'm washing my hair with chlorine treated water? i have coarse low porosity hair so protein is something i don't really use, but i will definitely try this routine. i'm just worried because there's not much i can do about the chlorine in my water here and if it's damaging it/making it over moisturized :/
Are your curls over-moisturized? I hope this routine helps! Check out the Curlsmith products used here: bit.ly/3MqR7NO

That Curl Smith bond repair is a great product, especially in Summer :)
i've been wondering what was wrong with my hair for MONTHSSS, thank you 😭😭
Can’t wait to try this routine! Thanks for such a great tutorial!🎉❤😊
I use a high protein leave in conditioner as my rinse out every couple of washes and it has helped so much.
Excellent video Gena. Just what I’ve been looking for. 😀

Thank youuu a lottttt
fixed the hygral fatigue now but now have moisture overload
Me too 😔
My hair doesn’t feel mushy when it’s wet anymore but it still looks boneless and doesn’t hold
@@lojjanewhat are other signs you have ?

Next wash day I’m gonna try less water again. I rinse out my leave in, don’t use curl cream and I still struggle with too much moisture.
