- Traditionally, bagels are dense bread roll in a shape of a ring, made by boiling dough then baking it. They are made of high gluten flour such as wheat flour. Everyone loves the chewy and crispy consistency of bagels, and make it a great breakfast alternative. So here's a healthy, low carb, grain free, gluten free, and dairy free alternative (yes! there is not fathead dough in these low carb bagels-cheese free!)

This is now my go-to recipe for bagels, hamburger buns and hot dog buns and simple bread when doubled in a loaf pan. So glad you offer coconut flour and dairy free recipes!

how do you put it in the shape for buns?
@@Uniquaization Just roll them into a ball and then flatten them just a little bit, not much. For hot dog buns, I use a silicone mold for that. If no mold, just elongate the dough instead of rolling it into a ball. I found another trick to make the bread lighter. Just separate the egg yolks from the egg whites and whip up the egg whites to stiff peaks and then incorporate all ingredients together.

So glad for this recipe! I can’t stand fathead dough. Of course it holds together - it’s clogged into a lump because of all the cheese. And then people use them with pizza and put more cheese on top 😝 I’m going to make these for our family this weekend. Thanks Elena!!
Totally! fathead dough is like eating a junk of melted cheese. Very pro-inflammatory

Hi where is the recipe? 😅
I like the Mrs. Dash brand of spices/herbs.
They have no salt AND that frees me to use my Himalayan pink salt or the flaky salt in the amount I prefer.
The Everything Bagel topping has too much salt which fights the seasonings….for my own taste.
I have heard raves for the Everything Bagel seasoning though🙂

One batch I added red pepper flakes with garlic and onion powder……the other batch of bagels, I made sweet by adding Swerve Brown sugar, vanilla extract and cinnamon to the batter….they were super delicious!!!!! Can I substitute the avocado oil for maybe coconut oil?
Yes, you can. Even ghee. But when you put them in the refrigerator they may get harder.
MCT oil is another option.
What are the nutrition facts
I cannot get cilian husk, can I use another starch?
The psyllium husk is to give the bread consistency and glue. Flax meal could be a substitute but doesn’t work as good as psyllium. Where are you from?
Is it posible to substitute the ACV with something else.
You can try to substitute with lemon juice.
Where is the recipe
do these have a strong coconut flavor?
No coconut flavor. And to give the bagel texture you need to toast them when you cut them in half. This eliminates coconut flavor even more
Why do you add apple cider vinegar? ACV tastes so bad that it makes me want to barff. Can I substitute something else for the AVC?
ACV helps the bagels grow. It is used with baking powder or baking soda to substitute yeast. You can’t really taste it when used baking.
Any acid will activate the baking soda. I avoid vinegar, and simply substituting lemon juice works fine.
Egg substitute.. looks so delicious but vegetarians can’t.. Tried flax egg .. but did not looked likes yours 😢
Yeah... Flax egg or such can only be used as a binder. Eggs used in the dough recipe aren't only binding and adding moisture to the dough, they also help a bit with rising. :) Maybe you could try adding some rising agent (edit: like a bit more baking powder or yeast?)?
Can u fteeze the bagels
Yes, slice them and freeze them. You can toast them a bit when defrosting
