I’m so glad Gigi dod the final animatic. She absolutely nailed their reunion. I see a lot of comments wanting the kiss, but the reality is when you’ve been apart so long, it’s all about the hug, and how close can i get to my person, and just about melting into each other’s skin… i sobbed my heart out at that part.
At first I was hoping/expecting a kiss, but their hug carried and expressed their relief way more than I could’ve imagined. (I constantly sob during the last song.)
Because there was rarely color in her animatics, aside from the base colors that cover everyone, I wasn't sure it was hers until I saw Ody lol. My immediate reaction was "THAT'S GIGI'S ODY!!! WE'RE ENDING WITH GIGI!!!"
Exactly! A marriage is all about intimacy. They have the rest of their lives for that. But now? In THIS moment, it's been 20 years since they've even held each other. A hug says a lot more in this instance. It says everything they wish to say and feel, in one embrace.
A couple things that are good to know: 1: The suitors broke the most sacred law of Greek mythology (Xenia, or sacred hospitality) in front of Athena, so they're getting a one way ticket to the underworld for monsters when they die. 2: The chanting in Odysseus is just Odysseus said with the original Greek pronunciation.
It's "PO-LY-PHE-MUS" and then "O-DY-SSE-US" showing his full fledge transformation to being a brutal and unforgiving monster like the cyclops was to his comrades
2:22:00 Okay, gotta say this - you guys know what would make at least a few "Hold Them Down" animatics absolutely amazing? After Antinous gets shot in the throat, all the suitors actually look and see Odysseus with his bow... on the _opposite_ side of the axes. Like, he took the time to line up the shot not only to win Penelope's challenge but also to kill that prick.
I'm kind of surprised I haven't seen any animatics do that yet. But I really hope someone dose that soon cause that might become my fav animactic for Hold Them Down.
The voice of Athena, Teagan, is going to be lending her vocals for a project involving Casper Fox. She will be playing Persephone in a Hades musical. I can't wait to hear some tracks. :3
A fact about greek belifes, dismemberment of a body was commonly seen as a great offence beacuse they belived it would splitt the soul in pieces and making it harder for it to reach the underworld, so in "hold em down" Antinious was doing to do the most disshonorable and horrid thing you could do to a human at the time. Witch makes the decapitation display by Odysseys even more of a strike at their fear beacuse they realized just how far he was willing to go :D
2:37:27 He's STILL a man Who made his way back home Even after, all the years away from what he's known He's STILL a man Who fought with all his might Trading the men he knew to see his son and wife But He's still a man
He thought he needed to apologize and pay for his sins, that he was a monster, some creature that would kill others for his needs, heartless and cold. But... In the end, he wasn't that. He wasn't someone else from the man his wife loved and waited for so long, he wasn't some monster... He was just a man, always has been. Someone who just wants to get home to his family.
Honestly it's that triumphant version of Just a man that makes me absolutely break down anytime I listen to it, as if I wasn't crying enough already. We go a full circle and close the story beautifully and it just HITS.
So yeah, Eurylochus isn't a hypocrite, he just had parallel character development to Odysseus. Eurylochus became all about protecting the crew and believing that his captain could think his way through anything that comes in their path after he saved the men from Circe. Odysseus came to view the crew as expendable so long as *he* could get home to his wife and son. Notably Eurylochus is married to Odysseus's sister. So when they are starving to death, Poseidon is keeping all fish away from their boat, they are delirious from hunger. They mutinied righteously. That said. . .it's also hard to blame Odysseus for choosing himself over his crew. Not because of the Mutiny, he had already made his choice back in the Underworld. It's why Zeus was punishing everyone. Odysseus for his failure to look after his crew, Eurylochus and crew for being so desperate for food that they would slaughter a sacred Cow, and forces Odysseus to *strip his pride bare* and admit to himself and his crew that he would always pick himself over them.
He had said he'd chose himself and his family since Just a man. He accepted that fact in monster. But yeah, both their developments were really good (even if the windbag is still a thing)
@shwygacha2525 That's kind of just the one thing missing that I want. WHY Eurylochus opened the bag. He's the only person in the entire story to apologize and NOT try to justify himself, so we're just left with a big blank to fill in there.
@williamleonardreesejr.1992 I think personally it wasn't greed that made him open the bag, but a twisted sense of loyalty. People act like he opened it minutes after ody got the bag but eurylocus spend 9 days and nights watching ody act like gollum over the wind bag he got from a God on a floating island. He might have wanted to relieve some of his friends burden and went about it the wrong way
Interesting tidbit that also a little heartbreaking about Legendary: Apparently that dog walking behind Telemachus was a puppy when Odysseus went to war and lives long enough to see Odysseus come home before he finally passes from old age.
BTW: There are variants of the Odyssey in which the dog passes away in filth just before Odysseus arrives. Needless to say, most people prefer the version in which dog and master get to see each other one last time.
@@violeth2255They get to see each other but they aren't really reunited: Odysseus is disguised as a beggar and he can't have his dog react in front of the suitors
The last bit of animatic in the Ithaca Saga has me baffled because that Odysseus design was so familiar, after awhile I realized it was Gigi's fully animated and colored, they forgot to add the credits. (And the iconic clean spin shots? How did it not click to me? Maybe I'm just to emotional at that point) Btw, according to Gwendy one of the animator for "Odysseus" she said that the song was tamed down to a degree. Turns out it was more darker and brutal in the first drafts, I remember Jorge saying he has to rewrite the last 3 songs so many times in a YT shorts before. Now I can't stop thinking about it. I hope he releases the cut songs along with some of the original drafts.
The reason for them animating Ody as "Kind with red eyes" is because the red eyes symbolize the monster side of him, they showed up from time to time throughout, but now after Vengeance and the slaughter, there's no going back, he's not "occasionally" a monster anymore, no take backs.
But also, I feel the whole point of EPIC is that, those monsters aren't just monsters for the sake of being monsters, that those monsters were either made that way through their own trauma, and that even though Odysseus is now "A Monster" to many, like Kratos there is more behind him than just bloodshed and pain. Monsters deserve to be seen as human and to see why they have done things, it may make the world a better place such as what Athena states in I.C.H.B.W [ATHENA] I can't help but wonder What this world could be If we all held each other with a bit more empathy The whole point is sometimes you have to be the Monster, sometimes you will be a Monster in someone's story and misunderstood. But you can come back from that, you can be around people who see you past the monster the world may see you as, and that even through all your pain and suffering you can show people they can bounce back from anything.
@distinguishedallureproduct879 I'm definitely with this interpretation that both sides were acquired to get odyssey home. Cause if Athena had kept her mentality of no mercy and hadn't begged to help ody no way was he getting off the island. And ody was going nowhere if he didn't tap into this monster side.
Jorge spoke about how for Song 38: Odysseus, he wanted to frame it from the Suitors' POV to really capture how terrifying Odysseus, a master battlefield tactician with perfect knowledge of his palace and mastery of various weapons, would be as an opponent in combat.
@@silentjackm.d4490 Genuine question, what part of NSFLY is it? I hear people saying it's that song... But all I hear is "Drown in your sorrow and fear" from Scylla,
1:07:49 It's because Luke also voiced Elpenor, the guy who in the og story got drunk on the night they were to leave Circe's island while on top of her palace after turning back from a pig, and fell off, dying that way.

I'm so grateful Penelope was given her due, she's clever and brave and stood her ground for twenty years. The bit with the wedding bed is fantastic. You can sense she's angry at his asking her, even as she understands why.
15:48 I can’t agree more. First of all, Ody doxxed himself. Second of all, eury opened the wind bag. Third of all, Ody sacrificed 6 men to scylla (including eury but he gave it to someone else). Fourth of all, Eury killed the cow although probably knowing that they (the cows) belong to either Apollo or Helios.
In eurys own words if you want all the power you must carry all the blame. Ody made a mistake docking himself that is his fault specifically. But he also finds a solution with the wind bag. Made a mistake and fixed it. As long as a bag stays closed they are literally all safe. And guess who opens the bag (without coming up with a solution) kills a gods cow (without finding a solution) he's literally solely responsible for the entire crews death ex3pt the men in the cave using his own logic.i mean it really just doesn't get more simple than that
@@giant_pigeon In all fairness, chances are that even if the bag was never opened, Poseidon would've still showed up at the very end like he did in Get In The Water. Still a big blunder tho
One thing I love most about Eurylochus, is that his and Odysseus's character pretty much flip by time of the Thunder saga, Eurylochus as Jorge has said never had much of a signature instrument like most of the crew members, but as time goes on the voice of the crew almost becomes his signature piece, he goes from relatively not caring about the crew I feel, to wanting to protect the few they had left after his actions resulted in so many dead. Whilst Odysseus was ready to discard 6 of them to Scylla by that point, I don't excuse the wind bag, that was just plain dumb of him, but Mutiny still truly hits so hard, they're tired, starving, and so far from home by his own fault. Idk, I can't fully hate Eurylochus cause I can still kinda see his pov through the story after the Ocean saga. Idk I could potentially be talking out my rear and wrong about all this, but I genuinely just love Eurylochus in this whole musical. (Deserved that bolt from Zeus though.) Love the reaction and new model man! Great way to end off the year!
2:27:30 The background chanting is saying his name. "Oddy - seus" and at the beginning is a bit different ("O-ddy-sse-us") but still just his name, quite like with the rest of Monsters (like in Polyphemus, and I think in Charybdis too)
2:27:03 The chorus is chanting, and has been chanting, “Odysseus”, the same way they chanted it at the end of “No Longer You”, proving both that Odysseus has completely turned into a monster and that Tiresias’ prediction has been fully realized.
I honestly forgot about it at the end of No Longer You until i re-listened to it after the premier. My first impression was that Odysseus was being chanted/sang the same as Polyphemus, signifying him as the monster. Plus the fact that all the named songs in the series are named after the "monsters" in those songs. Layers upon layers, parallels, and callbacks for everything :D
I have follow this musical since 2021 and when polites video appear and i reliqzed he is a FULL DOCTOR likethe medicine kinda hahahhahahah i was shocked af 😅😅😅
Did he proceed onto earning the doctor? I've heard a few tellings of Jay's shift into theatre, and they tended to imply he swapped midway through his course after some self reflection. Forming the basis of his first musical.
One side note I like to think about is Penelope mentions how light Ody's frame has become, which makes sense, but then the fact that the weaken framed Ody could still string his bow shows how weak the suitors really were in comparison.
I love that, since it means Odysseus at his weakest is still stronger than all 108 losers who holed up in his palace for 20 years, and that Penelope would never settle for anything but her husband
Good to note, Odysseus' bow is made in such a way that you'd need a particular technique to string it. It's less a test of might than of skill, and that none of the suitors bothered to think about it shows that none of them had her husband's cunning.
Something i noticed recently, every time we hear Polites after his death, he is quieter and more distant than the time before, showing that Ody slowly forgets how Polites sounded over the years, which makes sense!
Fun Fact: During the scene when ody is explaining what he has done to get to penelope the instrumentals are the "main motif" of what is being said example: In "Left a trail of red on every island" u can hear "ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves as instrumentals, "As i traded friends like objects i could use..." u can hear the instrumentals of thunder bringer and for "Hurt more lives than i can count on my hands you can hear "There is no price he wont pay" also as instrumentals
You know I think it would be really cool and interesting if Epic became a movie and have it be animated in a style similar to Arcane or Into the Spiderverse. I would be so down for that
To be fair the winions weren't actually deciving Polites, one literally calls it a scary cave. It's just that Polites only heard the part he wanted to hear. That's part of what makes it to tragic. It wasn't that Polites believe in others lead him to his death, it was him not asking enough questions and thinking more critically.
Been waiting for your reaction😂 especially for the song: odysseus. And omg yes plzz do a mini album. If u want to, of course. But it would be super cool!😊 and omg you heard steven's other song😂its sooo good if you haven't heard the full yet😜
It was 550 as seven were killed by Polyphemus and another one died because of being too drunk Sad fact: during ‘Hold them down’ while Antinious is expressing what he plans to do to Penelope you can hear a Viola which is her instrument almost like a substitute for her screams Antinious: only the ocean and I will know! Poseidon: Hell no! Leave me out of this! Odysseus’ plan: Lock the exits like Polyphemus Using home terf to his advantage Using the dark and aiming for the torches like Scylla Not taking anything to chance like Poseidon Odysseus became the monster
2:27:39 Chat probably told you, but they're singing 'Odysseus,' but like a Latin chant. "O-dee-sey-oos," and I've heard (don't quote me on this) that that's the original Greek pronunciation
When I got into Epic the Musical, My brother had just passed away. remembering the details still beats me up. he was in the hospital, and we were scheduled to visit him that day. we were only 20 minutes away when we got the call that his heart stopped and they couldnt get it going again, so when I heard that part of the Underworld saga with his mother. oof. hit really hard.
I only learned about this whole project about a week ago. I've listened to it twice and your reaction makes 3. I almost feel ashamed for not having known about it earlier. This "final" iteration is so incredible. I couldn't imagine being part of a community watching a project years in the making finally come together. Edit for comments as they come: 20:15 If Polites didn't "negotiate" with the Lotus Eaters they wouldn't have found ANY food. Yes it was the Cyclops' cave, but they would have all starved. 20:40 I also really like this song. So many of the songs are so good, but this one is possibly in my top 5 despite the fact that when I'm not actively listening to it slips away 29:04 I never noticed it before because I was listening to it on my phone at work. I like the little detail of "kill" being in red 29:58 yes the pillow. it's glorious 33:23 I just noticed (again, the first times listening was on my phone at work so missed a lot of details) this is the first instance of the black and red silhouette of Odysseus that will become so common near the end. incredible foreshadowing. 35:28 This one small moment of pride(hubris? pettiness?) caused SO GOD DAMN MANY of the problems going forward. It honestly astounds me that Odysseus had the forethought to introduce himself as Nobody and then proudly proclaim his name and homeland to the monster he crippled 36:29 Oh man I didn't even catch the "cross the line" call back. it's not even that many songs later 38:31 as far as the musical goes, he doesn't call for Athena? 42:40 IDK what it is about the flashing background during the chorus, but it's one of my favorite parts of all the animatics 44:17 he did specify "not one of them died THERE." It's like a backhanded acknowledgement that things didn't go well with Polyphemus 48:55 My favorite too! Ruthlessness is SO FUCKING GOOD! 53:25 Thunderbringer just doesn't give me the right vibes. It feels out of place, like it was supposed to be Zeus' introduction despite us seeing him in the very first song 57:55 I also really like the Hermes songs. definite bangers 1:00:27 Dangerous is better, imo, but it's a close fight 1:02:25 Cyclops as his monster is pretty crazy 1:10:52 I have heard. the cast is news to me. the fuck is that lineup?! that's like an all star cast right there 1:14:55 oh damn, another "crossed the line" callback. only noticing them during your reaction 1:18:22 I like it too, but I like more for the storytelling than for the quality of the song if that makes sense 1:20:45 now THIS is the part I really like. Different Beast hits weirdly hard 1:25:55 Eurylochus can FUCK RIGHT OFF! If he didn't open that wind bag the fleet would have gotten home safely (obviously minus the handful that died to Polyphemus) 1:31:35 I don't think Eurylochus would have betrayed Odysseus after getting home. It was the combination of all that had happened and the mounting pressure that brought on the mutiny. getting home would have pulled the release valve on all that stress 1:50:46 I guess he does call out to her! I missed that! 2:02:48 that twerk from Hermes SENDS me every time I see it 2:27:18 it's a chanted Odysseus, like Polyphemus was chanted during "Survive" 2:29:54 was just about to say, that's literally how the story has gone, but then you went and said it 2:39:45 god damn that hits different having the animatic as a main screen thing instead of only glancing at i occasionally on the phone
2:36:21 the reason that Penelope mentioned only her husband knew that is because Zeus made comments throughout the Epic sagas about visiting Penelope in Odysseus's shape and so she was testing him and guaranteed that it was him
That's the line of logic in the Odyssey. In Epic, Odysseus just told her that he's done things that could make it impossible for her to love him any more. Things that essentially make him a completely different person from when he left. Keeping in mind that she is a *Spartan* woman who stayed faithful to her man, she's expecting something awful (like him bedding half the Ancient Greek world like so many other heroes we're prone to). Then Odysseus starts telling her that he lied, sacrificed, and murdered his way to get back to her and Telemachus. That he was willing to do literally anything to get back to them because he loves them so much. Penelope is equal parts dumbfounded and hurt. She waited *20 YEARS* doing everything she could to hold out for him, and he thinks she wouldn't accept him for doing the exact same thing? That her love would be that shallow? But clearly Ody is wrapped up in his own self doubt at this point. So she forces him to spell out the answer himself and tells him to remove their wedding bed, the symbol of their love. The olive tree that began their relationship (both of them as they were back then). The olive tree that was changed so drastically that nobody besides the two of them would be able to tell that it was still rooted into the ground (they still love each other as they grew and changed and she still loves him even though he changed more drastically than she did). The bed that is rooted into the ground so firmly that the only way to remove it is to cut it from its roots (the only way either one could possibly not still love the other is if they deliberately and callously ignored the foundations of their relationship and disregarding everything they've been through together). And because it is something built from their relationship and his actions that is representative of something so important to him the idea is abhorrent. Of course he refuses, he carved it himself... ...which means that for all he's changed he's still the man that made that bed. He's still the man that left for war 20yrs ago. He's still the man she fell in love with. He's still the man she once adored. He's still the kind and gentle husband. He's still the love she knew before... She doesn't have to fall in love with him again because she never stopped, and she hammers the point home to him so that clever knucklehead is forced to recognize as much.
What makes the wound that Athena got during God Games so miraculous is that she took a full force lightning bolt from a pissed off disgraced Zeus, and what a lot of commentors can't seem to understand is that there are few weapons that can kill Olympians and Zeus's lightning bolts are one of them.
This musical as a whole was amazing! The only criticism I have is the relationship between Odi and Athena here as compared to the actual Odyssey, but even then I can appreciate the changes J made here and it works well all things considered. I hope they keep the OG cast for the stage play, if one ever manifests

Some of you who don't know a detail given in this musical, when Odysseus drowns in Get In the Water, Ody dies, but then he is "reborn" when his eyes turn red, therefore he becomes a monster.
Fun fact: In the part where Odysseus pours his heart out to Penelope at 2:34:39, you can here the motifs for Ruthlessness, Thunderbringer, and Scylla in the background. Really brings everything back together for everything he has learned from his journey and had to live by to become the monster.

Damn I love learning new things that make the things I enjoy better.
At the end, Penelope was like: bold of u to assume I ever stopped loving u 😂
Odysseus describes his sins and Penelope’s like “jokes on you, I’m into that!”
she is spartan so after all that murder and bloodshed she is probably even more into him lol

Poseidon after Vengeance Saga: "Yeah...about that..."

@@MarTheWorstGaymerIKR!?
😭😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏TOO GOOD *crying*
Even if he’s embraced the monster… *deeep dowwn.. you are still a man* (Scylla reference)
YES CY YU gets it, the "Just a man" in the back of the ending is so important and so few mention it in their reaction
AGREED
I wish there was a way I could save this comment because you smashed the nail on the head.
thank you for this, you put it in better words than I could’ve lol
He might have wanted to relieve some of his friends burden and went about it the wrong way
i was like "wow his impressions at the beginning were so good!" HES A VOICE ACTOR WHAT WAS I EXPECTING-
Earl and KJ (Ares and Scylla) sobbing in the background during the final song is everhthing to me. Everyone feels it. It hits EVERYONE in the feels
Why did I immediately think of Jing Yuan and Snowmoon (or whatever the lion's name is)?
@@laytonjr6601Well, most versions have the dog able to recognize him just before he dies
The last bit of animatic in the Ithaca Saga has me baffled because that Odysseus design was so familiar, after awhile I realized it was Gigi's fully animated and colored, they forgot to add the credits. (And the iconic clean spin shots? How did it not click to me? Maybe I'm just to emotional at that point)
Btw, according to Gwendy one of the animator for "Odysseus" she said that the song was tamed down to a degree. Turns out it was more darker and brutal in the first drafts, I remember Jorge saying he has to rewrite the last 3 songs so many times in a YT shorts before. Now I can't stop thinking about it. I hope he releases the cut songs along with some of the original drafts.
As much as I think everyone should be credited, I kinda saw it as “Gigi needs no introduction” like Zeus
Monsters deserve to be seen as human and to see why they have done things, it may make the world a better place such as what Athena states in I.C.H.B.W
[ATHENA]
I can't help but wonder
What this world could be
If we all held each other with a bit more empathy
The whole point is sometimes you have to be the Monster, sometimes you will be a Monster in someone's story and misunderstood. But you can come back from that, you can be around people who see you past the monster the world may see you as, and that even through all your pain and suffering you can show people they can bounce back from anything.
@distinguishedallureproduct879
I'm definitely with this interpretation that both sides were acquired to get odyssey home. Cause if Athena had kept her mentality of no mercy and hadn't begged to help ody no way was he getting off the island.
And ody was going nowhere if he didn't tap into this monster side.
@@nero294He's not entirely a man, and not entirely a monster. To sum it up... He is neither man nor mythical
Jorge spoke about how for Song 38: Odysseus, he wanted to frame it from the Suitors' POV to really capture how terrifying Odysseus, a master battlefield tactician with perfect knowledge of his palace and mastery of various weapons, would be as an opponent in combat.

Now with the recent short we now is I'm not sorry for loving You!
Finally, someone who recognizes this and doesn't just thrust it all on Eurylochus.
@drowsap8458 right but how many more lives could have been spared or prevented.
@drowsap8458 and also "chances are " have to be left out because all we know is what happened. Anything else is speculative at best
(Deserved that bolt from Zeus though.)
Love the reaction and new model man! Great way to end off the year!
I love all the cast's shenanigans in the corner (also I really like how the lighting effect's CYUU's model)
Jorge said it's only the end of a chapter. There are things in work for EPIC
Also there's an official sweater too that can be pre-ordered
2:27:30
The background chanting is saying his name.
"Oddy - seus"
and at the beginning is a bit different ("O-ddy-sse-us") but still just his name, quite like with the rest of Monsters (like in Polyphemus, and I think in Charybdis too)
Charibids doesn't have a background chant but Posiedon does
@danielmancaniello2408 Thx for confirming that, Got them mixed up and haven't had a chance to check
2:27:03
The chorus is chanting, and has been chanting, “Odysseus”, the same way they chanted it at the end of “No Longer You”, proving both that Odysseus has completely turned into a monster and that Tiresias’ prediction has been fully realized.

Wait what????? I’ve been following since January of 2022 how did I not know this???????

Odysseus saves his crew by using other ways of persuasion on Zeus
At this point poseidon got a pain kink from all that groaning
Something i noticed recently, every time we hear Polites after his death, he is quieter and more distant than the time before, showing that Ody slowly forgets how Polites sounded over the years, which makes sense!

I love how they forgot(?) to credit Gigi at the end but we all knew it was her Lol.

the fact that lucky runs out fits the macarena perfectly is beautiful
You know I think it would be really cool and interesting if Epic became a movie and have it be animated in a style similar to Arcane or Into the Spiderverse. I would be so down for that
Jay says he doesn't want it to be a movie or show
Because he couldn't get everything he wanted in
But he would be willing to do a circus act
He's hinted in an interview that he might be in talks for an animated adaptation

Edit for comments as they come:
20:15 If Polites didn't "negotiate" with the Lotus Eaters they wouldn't have found ANY food. Yes it was the Cyclops' cave, but they would have all starved.
20:40 I also really like this song. So many of the songs are so good, but this one is possibly in my top 5 despite the fact that when I'm not actively listening to it slips away
29:04 I never noticed it before because I was listening to it on my phone at work. I like the little detail of "kill" being in red
29:58 yes the pillow. it's glorious
33:23 I just noticed (again, the first times listening was on my phone at work so missed a lot of details) this is the first instance of the black and red silhouette of Odysseus that will become so common near the end. incredible foreshadowing.
35:28 This one small moment of pride(hubris? pettiness?) caused SO GOD DAMN MANY of the problems going forward. It honestly astounds me that Odysseus had the forethought to introduce himself as Nobody and then proudly proclaim his name and homeland to the monster he crippled
36:29 Oh man I didn't even catch the "cross the line" call back. it's not even that many songs later
38:31 as far as the musical goes, he doesn't call for Athena?
42:40 IDK what it is about the flashing background during the chorus, but it's one of my favorite parts of all the animatics
44:17 he did specify "not one of them died THERE." It's like a backhanded acknowledgement that things didn't go well with Polyphemus
48:55 My favorite too! Ruthlessness is SO FUCKING GOOD!
53:25 Thunderbringer just doesn't give me the right vibes. It feels out of place, like it was supposed to be Zeus' introduction despite us seeing him in the very first song
57:55 I also really like the Hermes songs. definite bangers
1:00:27 Dangerous is better, imo, but it's a close fight
1:02:25 Cyclops as his monster is pretty crazy
1:10:52 I have heard. the cast is news to me. the fuck is that lineup?! that's like an all star cast right there
1:14:55 oh damn, another "crossed the line" callback. only noticing them during your reaction
1:18:22 I like it too, but I like more for the storytelling than for the quality of the song if that makes sense
1:20:45 now THIS is the part I really like. Different Beast hits weirdly hard
1:25:55 Eurylochus can FUCK RIGHT OFF! If he didn't open that wind bag the fleet would have gotten home safely (obviously minus the handful that died to Polyphemus)
1:31:35 I don't think Eurylochus would have betrayed Odysseus after getting home. It was the combination of all that had happened and the mounting pressure that brought on the mutiny. getting home would have pulled the release valve on all that stress
1:50:46 I guess he does call out to her! I missed that!
2:02:48 that twerk from Hermes SENDS me every time I see it
2:27:18 it's a chanted Odysseus, like Polyphemus was chanted during "Survive"
2:29:54 was just about to say, that's literally how the story has gone, but then you went and said it
2:39:45 god damn that hits different having the animatic as a main screen thing instead of only glancing at i occasionally on the phone

2:36:21 the reason that Penelope mentioned only her husband knew that is because Zeus made comments throughout the Epic sagas about visiting Penelope in Odysseus's shape and so she was testing him and guaranteed that it was him
Wait really? What lyrics had those comments, I must've missed something

I still am in disbelief that the way I got introduced to epic was just my friends making me do the makerena to monster. Wow, I've come so far.
Some of you who don't know a detail given in this musical, when Odysseus drowns in Get In the Water, Ody dies, but then he is "reborn" when his eyes turn red, therefore he becomes a monster.
The way I cried AGAIN at the end, it's showing of the quality of the whole thing and how much we're all attached to it
Fun fact: In the part where Odysseus pours his heart out to Penelope at 2:34:39, you can here the motifs for Ruthlessness, Thunderbringer, and Scylla in the background. Really brings everything back together for everything he has learned from his journey and had to live by to become the monster.
