Can't believe it. I haven't heard these guys for about 20 years. I'd recognize that voice anywhere. Miss this music. "Movin on"..had the Missouri lp, my brother borrowed it, left it in the trunk and warped it. Pissed me off to no end. And I still ask him when he's going to find another one for me. 😂🌹
Guy from high school knew Ron and auditioned for him (according to that guy - guitar player). Waaaay back in the 1970s. He didn't make the band though. Thanks for putting this up.
I remember buying the vinyl when the record came out and I had never heard of the band Missouri. When I got home and played it on my turntable I was very surprised how good they were! I still listen to it from time to time. Converted it to CD.
I grew up in St. Joseph, Mo. and graduated in 1984....Missouri was a totally awesome band and didnt ever get recognition they deserved!! I still am happy to think fondly of their music to my teen years!! Thanks to all you guys who were the band Missouri!! Great stuff, thanks for the music!! Cheers, Ross Hughes
I froze a frame at 51 seconds into the song. That is Her. I was playing that show. at that moment. I was the keyboard player...She was in the Audience. Spirit Fest 1994. She has stayed in my mind for that moment. Forever...Sorry I never got to say Hi to you. So Lovely. 23 years ago and I bet she is happy, and beautiful as ever...I had to say that.
The miracle of Google and UA-cam! I can't believe I found this, haven't heard this in ages! I had this cassette tape! Played it until it disintegrated! Posted to FB just now. Reminds me of the days of Summer in NE AR going to the "line" in Thayer MO
+Loren Robertson - My Parents grew Up in Thayer !! I spent my Summers in Springfield, MO. Missouri was an Awesome Band, Regret that I never got to see them.......
I had planned on going to see these guys open for Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Santa Monica Civic, but the plane crash changed all that. I had this album and was really impressed.
I did a show with them in moberly missouri at the civc center, their equipment truck broke down and they used are stage gear The Band I was in was the Dodge Band Ron played my Gold Top Les Paul we had a blast that night
Saw you at Chris' Cavern, late 70's, doin album 2 or 3, always great tunes and was friends w/ Dan Billings from high school. Wish u could have played reunion w/ Shooting Star at Starlite Sept. 2010. Miss Missouri and Dan Billings!!!
Ron West had one of the most soulful voices. Unfortunately the Band was just getting known when record companies began moving away from R and R sounding bands in favor of disco, pop ballads, and punk seen as the new best thing. Even some of the well established bands had difficulty get record support to even record.
These guys are awesome Barr none! I haveerfect pitch play & have never heard so many possible singles...since everything you wrote n perform is worthy!
Ron...Its Scott Gross....Friend of the Stidham's....You dont have to say another word....I Loved every second of your success....I wish so much that WE could turn back the hands of time and do it all over again...YOU ROCK!
@ronnwestt // Ron, very cool footage man. I grew up around Bethany, MO and graduated in '79, I saw you Missouri, Morningstar & Flying Burrito Brothers at a gig at NWMS Gym in Maryville around that time. Great Show. Always fond of the work of the West brothers in the KC area. Used to see a lot of shows there... Starlite, Kemper, Arrowhead... all good :)
