@@TheWayToWin In Usain case in 2009 he was fit so it's easy to relax and run - in 2017 he was definitely out of shape and coming of injury, hence he struggled.
Very true! The key in boxing/ Thai kicking is to relax before strike. The more you relax before the strike/punch/stride, the more force and speed you gain and output in the strike. Sprinting is literally like striking the ground. 👍
This was great, thanks, been searching for "fast running technique" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Ralebney Running Recoilless - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my buddy got excellent success with it.
I’ve been feeling this. I remember I used to run so fast, then something happened. This usually happens if you guys try TOO HARD to run fast. It just has to flow naturally.
At 2:38 you can clearly tell what happens to Powell in championship races. Compare his facial expressions to 2:26, when he runs an extremely fast time. He clearly is over-pushing, nervous, and this has been happening to Powell in championship races as long as I can remember. This video puts it perfectly: relaxation is a major factor in a successful outcome.
I've found that the MORE u sprint the more u learn about this beautiful sport naturally. I kinda learnded it and I'm improvin it by just sprinting at max velocity against cars and buses near my house lol❤🖤
I use to think that the harder you strike the ground and push off the faster you'll go but it makes sense you're slowing yourself down like holding on to the wheel to do a bigger swing. So basically it's all about moving that leg quicker on the ground the faster you get like tapping the wheel quicker the faster the wheel spins.
Right, elastic recoil is the major contributor to top speed. It is like hitting a ball against the ground. You hit it hard but it bounces back due to its elastic properties.
This is the best explanation I've heard so far, very good content! I sprinted in highschool and always found good times by relaxing face. You can see best sprinters cheeks move when relaxed. Also in tennis relaxation important before hitting the ball! This is what it means to "Flow like water, my friend" - Bruce Lee!
Yah this is correct. Like Usain said when he lost his last race. It's become hard, so it's time to step away. He said when he ran 9.58 it was easy, because the tremendous training was there.
I've always been able to switch relaxing off and on, because i play football i cannot always stay relaxed, it's such a weird sensation though, when relaxing you feel like your not doing enough and it feels slower, although feels easier, but when you look back at the speed you hit it's faster.
More tension create high blood pressure,,,high bp create imbalance of breathing and lack of oxygen in our body ,,,so relaxation help reduce bp and create more heart efficiency for gain oxygen and supply blood to body ,,gives extra energy
I am not a sports scinetist ,but I was analysing my 1 mile for quite a time and I planned myself how to run 1 mile for 4 or 5 minutes . And I analysed that if I can relax my body I can really run faster and without stressing a lot . I never knew it's secret ..😂😂
That part with Powell saying that if you go really fast and time your powerful and precise strides like it says in the video, is true in a sense. You'd feel like if you're flying.....................
it happens when you are pulsing your strides, you feel power and ease as if your feet do not touch the ground. Our brain can't register such short contacts so it definitely feels like flying.

The thing is when you relax it feels like you are not running as fast as you can do you try speed up and this happens especially when others are faster than you
Hahah back in school I was the 4x100m anchor and my team was 5th or something so I kinda gave up and thought oh well … because I was unbothered, my speed, stride length, acceleration combined made me zip past the other 4 runners and it was almost as if they were paused and I was flying past them. This has happened to me twice but I never realised relaxation or unbothered-ness was a factor 😮😅
Nathaneel Mitchell-Blake seems to have a big problem with this as shown here and in his Tokyo relay anchor leg, I have a feeling his 100m pb could improve dramatically if he worked on it
So right before my leg makes contact with the ground I should flex my leg muscles so max force is produced on the ground, also after my leg comes off the ground should I relax right away until I’m about to hit the ground again?
Throwing myself back to when i fell inna race cause i was relaxing so much my feet were barley touching the ground snd and i thought it was bad that whole time so i forgot to keep my balance
