    Very true! The key in boxing/ Thai kicking is to relax before strike. The more you relax before the strike/punch/stride, the more force and speed you gain and output in the strike. Sprinting is literally like striking the ground. 👍

    At 2:38 you can clearly tell what happens to Powell in championship races. Compare his facial expressions to 2:26, when he runs an extremely fast time. He clearly is over-pushing, nervous, and this has been happening to Powell in championship races as long as I can remember. This video puts it perfectly: relaxation is a major factor in a successful outcome.

    I use to think that the harder you strike the ground and push off the faster you'll go but it makes sense you're slowing yourself down like holding on to the wheel to do a bigger swing. So basically it's all about moving that leg quicker on the ground the faster you get like tapping the wheel quicker the faster the wheel spins.

    • @TheWayToWin
      @TheWayToWin  4 роки тому +2

      Right, elastic recoil is the major contributor to top speed. It is like hitting a ball against the ground. You hit it hard but it bounces back due to its elastic properties.

      vinuzo yes, but do we not actively push our legs to the ground? I’m sure we can increase step cadence if we do that instead of letting our legs fall to the ground.

    • @vinuzo9548
      @vinuzo9548 5 років тому +2

      @@mindopotato3876 I see what you mean, I don't think your legs should go completely limp. By relaxation I think he is talking about eliminating antagonist tension. For example, when you do a heavy bench press, back muscles will tense up for extra support. This would slow you dow in you were benching for speed.
      You shoot push your legs into the floor, but not "actively", for risk of tensing the antagonist muscle groups
