Let us not forget that the Old and Authentic ROCOR is the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad (ROCA) that was formed in 1920 by bishops who were forced to leave their homeland along with millions of Russian people, all fleeing the horrors of the communist system. The ROCA bishops, clergy, and laity remain loyal to the original mission of an independent ROCA.
Despite protests from within the ranks of bishops, clergy, and laypeople, on May 17, 2007, a large part of the ROCA entered into Eucharistic communion with the MP with the signing of the “Act of Canonical Communion” and is now known as the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR - MP). The Moscow Patriarchate (MP) and the current ROCOR-MP do need to repent of the heresies of Ecumenism and Sergianism.
The smaller part of ROCA that chose to remain loyal to the historical Russian Orthodox Church and to continue the mission of the ROCA is not in Eucharistic communion with the Moscow Patriarchate (MP), the state-controlled official Russian Church.
The Churches of the ROCA remnant are present today in the Diaspora District of ROCA. The list of Parishes is present on the rocana and auroca web sites. The ROCA Churches are located in Australia, New Zealand, St. Petersburg, as well as in the U.S. and Canada.
For these who would like to understand more about the history of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad (ROCA) they can read the article "ROCA the Beacon Of Light" by Protopriest Nikita Grigoriev on the rocana web site.
Also, we remember that the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad (ROCA) Council of Bishops in August 1983 in the person of its Metropolitan Philaret of New York (1903-1985), noting the extent of the Ecumenist contagion, issued an Anathema to Ecumenism in the straight line of the Holy Fathers, condemning anyone who participated in this heresy.
When the Church pronounces anathema on a certain heresy, we must NOT forget that it is for eternity.
    Anathema to Ecumenism (1983)
"To those who attack the Church of Christ by teaching that Christ’s Church is divided into so-called “branches” which differ in doctrine and way of life, or that the Church does not exist visibly, but will be formed in the future when all “branches” or sects or denominations, and even religions will be united into one body; and who do not distinguish the priesthood and mysteries of the Church from those of the heretics, but say that the baptism and eucharist of heretics is effectual for salvation; therefore, to those who knowingly have communion with these aforementioned heretics or who advocate, disseminate, or defend their new heresy of Ecumenism under the pretext of brotherly love or the supposed unification of separated Christians, Anathema!
--- Note: The relics of Metropolitan Philaret of New York were found to be completely incorrupt in 1998.

As someone who was baptized into Orthodoxy through ROCOR, and now lives in Moscow, ROCOR and the Russian Orthodox Church are, of course, one and the same - we can have arguments, quarrels, and hardships at times, but we are one.

So ROCOR is "one" with Patriarch Kirill's blessing of the fratricide against Ukrainian Orthodox Christians? If we are "one" with the Russian Orthodox, then are we also "one" with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church? If so, then the Russian Orthodox Church is not just taking part in fratricide, but suicide.

This is stating the obvious, but the “R” in ROCOR stands for Russian after all. Persons thinking about joining or staying within the ROCOR need to keep this in mind and figure how much of this jurisdiction’s Russian identity and Russian identity politics they can take on as additional freight - on top of the already heavy burden of taking up one’s Cross in this world.
We realized that we could not carry water for Putin and take up our Crosses at the same time. With broken hearts, my family has left the ROCOR over its tacit support of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, this putinist jihad.

The main question is: the anathema of the holy synod of ROCOR against the so-called Moscow Patriarchate of 1971, has never been withdrawn.
Those who entered into communion with the MP, a full member of the World Council of Churches, fell from the church of Christ into apostasy.
    It's that simple.

I have an honest question, that may sound to some as divisive, or argumentative. If it sounds that way, please forgive me, as it truly is not intended to be that way. I am just a confused believer, who is trying to understand more about the state of the present Church.
My question is this. Those that are opposed to the re-union between ROCOR and the MP, do so because supposedly the MP never repented of its "Sergianism". I was hoping this video would have addressed that. So my question is, what is the explanation for not having repented of this, and what is the explanation for ROCOR agreeing to the re-union without the repentance. Please help me understand this.

As reported on July 13, 2022 by the Union of Orthodox Journalists, Bishop Victor of Baryshivka said that Ukraine would never be the same again. I would add that the Russian Orthodox will never be the same again after this war.
"Thousands of our fellow citizens died defending their homeland, the infrastructure is destroyed, and the economy is in a disastrous state. We have been put on the brink of survival, and the likelihood of a humanitarian catastrophe is quite high. But even if one does not take into account all these terrible factors, but only considers the fact that almost five thousand civilians of Ukraine, including nearly three hundred children, died during the 5 months of warfare, it becomes obvious this war cannot be called otherwise than insanity, and there is no reason to justify it.
Our churches are still seized, mainly in the west of Ukraine; our believers and priests are often beaten, and all this is happening against the background of military aggression by the Russian Federation. As a result, over 70 churches of the UOC have been completely or partially destroyed by explosion or shelling, primarily in the east of the country. The situation is inexplicable and incomprehensible: our churches are taken away in the west of Ukraine and destroyed in the east."
We in ROCOR pray for peace in the Ukrainian lands, but never against the invaders who have brought their war/special operation against the Ukrainian people.
Can the Russian Orthodox afford a military victory by the Russian Federation in Ukraine that will inevitably lead to - more war- in the countries of the former Soviet Union (Moldova, the Baltics States, etc.)? In the words of King Pyrrhus of Epirus: "One more such victory and we shall be ruined." The soul of the Russian Orthodox Church will become completely corrupted by its spiritual investment in these wars to establish the tyranny of just one man. We should not only pray for peace in the Ukrainian lands, but we must pray for the defeat of the forces of the Russian Federation if only to save the soul of the Russian Orthodox Church.

What manner of “spirit” are the Moscow Patriarchate and its ROCOR of? The Holy Spirit or the Enemy?
From the Gospel of St. Luke, chapter 9
“And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him. As a member of ROCOR, I remember the pre-2007 Act of Canonical Communion days when we used to pray to the Bogoroditsa that She would "save the suffering Russian people from the yoke of the godless authority." ROCOR had walled itself off from the Moscow Patriarchate because of this yoke. Now that the Moscow Patriarchate has yoked to itself to the Presidency of the Russian Federation and has blessed this worldly aspiring-kingdom's fratricidal invasion against our fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the other innocents of Ukraine, has ROCOR also yoked itself to the fortunes (or misfortunes) of the Putin regime?
If this war is a "CRIME" as described by our Locum Tenens Metropolitan Mark, shouldn't we consider building the wall again, if only as a temporary measure, like the past "walling off" that lasted from the 1920s-2007? By temporary measure, I mean til the end of the Putin/Pat. Kirill regimes.
They may loom large now on the world stage, but we know that they are not eternal and there days are numbered on this earth. When they are gone, will their bloodstained shame remain on our ROCOR? Will this shame be our childrens' legacy?
Time to remember that the Lord Jesus Christ is the head of the Church, including its Russian part. The Archangel Michael shouts "Who is like God?" as his war cry. Putin and Patriarch Kirill are no gods and do not head Christ's Church.

It seems that it is more important for ROCOR to remain in communion with the Moscow Patriarchate than the other way around since ROCOR makes up less than 1% of the Moscow Patriarchate, a Patriarchate that was more than willing to sacrifice 25% of its body when it forced out the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. ROCOR gets to bask in the reflected glory of Moscow. In return, Moscow got a cowed and silently assenting member, one that used to be the conscience of the Russian Orthodox Church but now acts as its conscience SEARED (1 Timothy 4:2).

On July 19, 2023 The Union of Orthodox Journalists reported: “According to him [His Holiness Patriarch Kirill], the patriarchate receives letters with a ‘painful question’ whether it is possible to receive communion in churches where the head of the Russian Orthodox Church is not commemorated. Patriarch Kirill stated that the sacraments of bishops and priests, who ‘do not keep this order without any scruples, remain valid.’” So it is possible to cease commemoration of Patriarch Kirill, who as of this moment has put aside Orthodox Christianity to take up Eastern Rite Putnanity, and still remain IN COMMUNION with the Russian Orthodox Church.

St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco taught us about the coming Antichrist whose time is now "not yet." St. John the Theologian tells us that "even now are there many antichrists,'" (1 John 2:18), i.e.. there are little "a" antichrists that must precede the coming of THE Antichrist. It follow's that these little "a" types will follow the same playbook laid out by Satan for his coming servant. St. John of Shanghai laid out the playbook for us as a warning:
    * [The Antichrist] will provide opportunities for Church life, allow her to hold services, and promise that wonderful temples will be built, provided that he be recognized as 'Supreme Being' and worshipped. He will have a personal hatred for Christ.
    * He will thrive on this hatred and will rejoice in people's apostasy from Christ and the Church.
    * There will be a mass falling away from the faith, during which many bishops will betray the faith, and point to the wonderful position of the Church as justification.
    * A search for compromise will be the characteristic state of the people's faith.
    * Directness of confession will vanish. People will subtly justify their fall, and solicitous evil will support such a general state of mind.
    * People will grow used to apostatizing from the truth and will be accustomed to the sweetness of compromise and sin.
    * The Antichrist will allow people anything as long as they, falling down before him, worship him.
Many of us thought that the Russian people had learned a bitter lesson from the history of their subjection to the Bolshevik-Stalinist antichrists and would be on guard and ready against further and future subjection to godless authority, but current events show that even the Russian Orthodox are vulnerable to the idolatry of nationalism. Now the Moscow Patriarchate has this time, willing subjected itself to the rule of a man. It has blessed a war to extend this man's tyranny to Ukraine and beyond.
The Moscow Patriarchate prays for peace in Ukraine but what kind of peace? The conquest of the whole of Ukraine? Subject its peoples to the rule of one man?
The Moscow Patriarchate has already forced the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to flee from its bloody embrace. Does the MP expect to KILL our brothers and sisters of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church back into its fold?
What cost in human life - Russian and Ukrainian - does the Moscow Patriarchate-ROCOR believe is a fair price to pay for the dominion of Putin over Ukraine?
