  • How to manually remove a tire from rim. Or in Australian, how to manually remove a TYRE from a rim. This video is specific for how to remove a car tyre from a rim, which can be pretty difficult. Especially because we're removing the tyre by hand!

    Good job. I appreciate you not cutting the video when the going gets rough because it gives us a realistic view of what to expect. Ive noticed a lot of guys will cut out the hard and difficult parts before they continue.👍

      What difficult parts? And question is why? Thiers always a reason

    • @Alex.G
      @Alex.G  2 роки тому +9

      The difficult parts would be me wresting with a tyre and tyre levers like I have no idea what I'm doing. And why any other youtuber would cut it out? The answer is twofold
      1: Cutting it out would make them look like less of an idiot. But I don't care how I look
      2: Cutting it out would reduce the length of the video, increasing engagement and view duration, therefore pleasing the youtube algorithm
      Neither of those goals is how I roll

    A good attempt by a person not accustomed to tyre removal. Two things i would suggest, DONT use WD-40 its lubrication is somehow different to a dish soap solution. Make a dish soap solution up and put it in a trigger spray, very handy if you are going to the middle of nowhere. The second one is get a LARGE nylon faced hammer, its much better than the club hammer in the video. You can hit the tyre irons without damaging them, and if you are smacking the tyre and catch the wheel you dont take a chunk out of the wheel!

    Hint. By standing on the opposite side of tire when 1st trying to let it off, makes it a whole lot easier. It will place bead in deepest part of rim, resulting in far less leverage req'd.

    It's a lot less effort if you leave the first tyre lever in and put the second one to lever the bead off. But grab a rubber mallet and whack the beads down with the mallet sliding the tyre lever round as you go.Don't take too big a bite of bead with the second lever.. Another way to break the bead is to drive over the tyre moving it around, then drive over the next part.

    I managed to remove one side of a 7.50 16 implement tyre from a trailer, just enough to replace the tube--I gave up (failed!! )trying to get the second side off. It might have worked better if I had left it on the trailer.
    As an exercise, I tried to remove a scrap 7.50 16 Michelin XCL from an after market land rover rim. I failed even to get one side off, bending up my ebay special "heavy duty??????" tyre levers.
    A bloke from Stapleton's Tyres come around to replace some 12.5 20 tyres on a front end loader. He did it on the vehicle and used a bricklayers bolster to start breaking the bead, finishing with a compressed air powered compressor to finish the bead. He used levers to complete the removal. He was a big old boy and was sweating buckets by the end of the job--I dont think this seven stone weakling would have been successful

    well, to balance a car tire is not a big issue, the tire is marked telling you where to put the heavy side next to the valve, so that you will know where to put the wait on the rim to even up the score , about 1 once will fix it up, look for that little white sticker some where on the bead flat of the tire, and that is the heaviest part of the tire, put that as close to the valve as you can, put the tire on the rim, air it up , watch your finger you only have 10,...and am sure you will like to keep them all, always when airing up the tire keep hands away from the tire BEAD, that's is where the tire slaps the rim to the bead, now doing the balance? take a once of what ever kind of wait you are going to use to make the balance, go strait up from the valve and add a once, that will do the job, but you have to make double sure that you have the heavy part of the tire next to the valve, if you have the heavy part of the tire over to the left side of the valve, then, your going have to put on your once of wait led to the right side, and if you put the heave part of the tire over to the right side of the valve, then you need to add a once of let over to the left , if you can find that little round colored circle on the side of your tire put the once strait across from that round mark, and if you cant not find the mark on your tires then, like I said before, look for that little white sticker that is located on the tire it's right next to the bead of the tire , you cant miss it, after the tire is aired up and the bead is seated on the rim, then you cant find it now, line it up with the valve, add a once right strait up from it , that should do the job, and it could happen that some time 1 tire might be all balanced don't need any led, and if this might happen, you will know if it's the front, because it would shake stronger then the back tire will, because it's on the staring , I have tried the beads, didn't like it was shaking when I would take my foot of the gas pedal , so I took them out of all my 4 tires, and did it the way am telling you, works perfect no shaking nothing perfect . I called the garage , they wonted around 50 bucks for the 4, not installing them our taking them off the car, it took me around 45 min to take out the beads , aired them up, add my 1 once, slapped them back on the car and saved my 50 bucks.

      That depends on how wide your rims are and whether you want your tyres properly balanced or not!

      Now we know why our proffesionaly balanced tires are not balanced when you.pull out of wallmart with.8 wheel weights you.know they screwed up obviously they don't care if the tire is positioned properly pulled off 6 of the 8 weights was fine even at high speed if the weights are not near the opposite side of the stem.hole then chances are They didn't put the bead in the right place or something is wrong. Like a broken.strand in the tire or a defective tire.if it's done correctly the small amount of weight is near or opposite the valve stem.as the stem hole takes off weight and the stem adds weight including the heavy metal stem.caos you.added can throw off the balance..the old school way is to spin the tire on free bearings it should never stop in the same spot if balanced or reverse direction of the spin means it's really.heavy on one side but your bearings must spin perfectly with no.brake drag at all to check it on a non drive axle..if you see lots of weighs you most likely have a bad tire or bad Install job. I have rebalanced many tires better than the machine does it and balance can change under use for many reasons like debris or wear of tread or wear and damage to the tire usually visible uneven sidewall because the tire was curbed and damaged. The machines work.well if used correctly and the tire is installed correctly..balance it with. The tire cap on as well it's not a lot of weight but it can make a difference especially with large metal caps. Hubcaps and beauty rings can effect balance as well even picking up.rock debris can effect balance. Sand dirt etc. So proper balancing requires clean tires and clean rims and dry air inside. Many reasons why balance can be off. Put the bad tires on the back or save as Spares don't be scared to experiment with adding or subtracting weight to an obviously poorly balanced tires if it has 10 weights on it I bet there is a reason that might be obvious if you inspect it carefully air pressure can effect balance and overall tire diameter sometimes a steering pull can be corrected by adjusting air pressure more air more diameter less rolling resistance pulls other side less air pulls low air side front and rear make a difference but front has a larger effect. A bad or bent suspension can be temporarily corrected but at the expense of tire wear and possibly even driveline wear as uneven diameter can strain the driveline but the road itself outs more weight in one side usually the right side is heavier and might needs pound or so of more air to achieve the same diameter. If on a long highway that is right sloped changing lanes can change tire wear patterns in some minor cases as well some cars prefer left slope some prefer right slope nothing is perfect when it comes to our roads. The course of land itself has grooves that can wear tires to make then more or less even. But watch out for wide loads and stay in your lane please and keep your tires inflated within the safe ranges of pressure required there is a maximum rating and a minimum.safety factor in every tire if you check its specification cold tire less pressure hot tire more pressure etc . So keep near the middle of the range given expected weather and use conditions.

    Just bought a set of falken wildpeak at3s. Got them mounted and balanced then find out 3/4 tires are "un rounded" which causes extreme shaking at 55+ mph. Now I'm watching this video so that I can return the Falkens...

    Easier to sit the center of the wheel in something to get the tire off the ground and just take a crow bar and a small sledge and wedge the flat end of the bar between the bead and run them beat the bar with the sledge around the wheel this accomplishes the same thing as the tire machine .
