    Another easy way to break the tyre bead is to use a spade, just put the Spade on the edge of the tyre and jump on it with some strong footwear. Just like you are digging straight into the ground. The tyre will pop straight off the bead, we do it all the time. Works perfectly.

    Scissor jack looks like a great idea! I need to replace cracked valve stems and reuse the tire. Will the scissor jack method destroy/tear/ruin the sidewall cords that are inside the tire? It looks like it puts a lot of pressure on the sidewall. Something curved that puts pressure closer to the bead may be better?

      -Why the 2x6 may be better

  • @billrimmer5596
    @billrimmer5596 3 роки тому +2

    U r a man of many talents. I like the 2x6 method. Cutting the shape of the rim was really cool. It’s funny, I don’t c u getting used tires and putting them on your car. You’re more the go to Costco and get Michelin’s for your car. Although patching the tire from the inside would necessitate breaking the bead. I admit I usually plug em. I know, “Bad Boy, Bad Boy whatcha gonna do?”

  • @karkule5919

      I've already been into it. Dapped a little it of solder on the PCB and it turned right back up! :D
      I bet you know real well about this problem as you're asking about it.

    • @fun_ghoul
      @fun_ghoul 3 роки тому

      @@vuaeco You betcha, brother. I used to buy them from the junkyard for C$6 apiece, clean the board with rubbing alcohol, reflow the solder joints on those silly SMT resistors, polish the face to like-new, and sell them for US$50 on ebay.
      The Matrix of that generation has the same issue -- namely, lead-free solder production hiccups -- as did a bunch of Subarus and surely others unknown to me.
      Of course, here in so-called Canada, many cars don't make it to drinking age due to road salt. Good for junkyard parts sellers, but bad for motorists who struggle to afford a car (but also need one).
      I feel like you have a compulsion to make the most of what you have, maybe because life was tougher for you growing up. I call it "poverty brain". I'm poor once again, but even when I had two nickels to rub together, I was still trying to fix the unfixable and make things out of others' refuse. Even hot rodding, which I could only afford to read about or help others with, is kinda like that.
      Sorry, I'm rambling. Love ya, bro. All the best to you and yours.

    • @vuaeco
      @vuaeco  3 роки тому +1

      @@fun_ghoul The Matrix is just a Corolla with a different body so it's exactly the same.
      You're right, I have a "poverty brain". I grew up in Vietnam right after the war so there was absolutely nothing for us. The toy I got to play was the one I had to make myself. And that carries on until today! LOL
      All the best!

    • @fun_ghoul
      @fun_ghoul 3 роки тому

      @@vuaeco @vuaeco Matrix is indeed basically a Corolla wagon, but the clock is different. It's just a clock in the Corolla (sedan) with 4 wires, but the Matrix clock also has the passenger seatbelt warning lights and 8 wires in total IIRC.
      I would never argue that the level of material privation even in the ghetto where I grew up came close to postwar VN, but two "things" you might have had that we didn't were solidarity and sense of purpose. Of course, maybe those things existed in my old neighbourhood before there came to be rampant cocaine use.
      As for "poverty brain", I hope you know I don't mean it as a pejorative. I think of it as a particular neurosis related to material lack early in life that has profound effects on the rest of one's life, for better or worse. I am sincerely glad that, despite the (capitalist) world's coldness to your people and nation in their hour of need, you've managed to turn your "poverty brain" into a huge advantage for yourself and for thousands of other people as well. I wouldn't say that this kind of selflessness is rare over here, but...it's certainly isn't celebrated in our popular culture!

    • @fun_ghoul
      @fun_ghoul 3 роки тому +2

      @@vuaeco I've been priced out of driving for years. I drove a Corolla completely illegally with a bum plate from the scrapyard for a year spanning 2015-16, but eventually was caught and the car impounded.
      Could have been a lot worse, too: I was caught in Quebec, where they're more lenient on what I'd call "poverty-related" driving offences...but I actually live across the river in Ontario. Here, the minimum fine for driving with no insurance is $10k on a first offence, and $50k for subsequent ones. Indeed, I was also convicted of no insurance in 2004, so I'd have caught the big one!
      Not surprisingly, perhaps, I have a criminal record from 20 years ago; when coupled with being a high school dropout and my lack of a driver's licence, it's hard to find gainful, long-term employment. That's why I had been doing the scrap thing on ebay, at least until they forced PayPal users to also link a bank account, and the scrapyard moved -ten miles- 16km out of town.
      Again, sorry for rambling. Cheers.
