I love the fact you talk about overcoming anxiety and not just coping! It's possible!!!

Julia is awesome in providing real world solutions. What she is talking about could be likened to "slaying the dragon" ; ie facing your fears.
As she pointed out in a diferrent video, you are going to have anxiety whether you try to overcome it or not. Might as well try to overcome it.
She said to ask what if questions if fear questions pop into your mind. This frames your thinking as HOW can I do it, instead of I CANT do it.
It worked for me. Some advice I might pass along though:Keep a close eye on your focus. I was so "motivated" I sometimes lost track of what I was doing lol. Check yourself often. Try it though. It worked!

Hi Julia, you're so right. I used to be so terribly shy, I dreaded going to any social event because I'd never know what to say to people. So my anxiety arose from a fear of being overwhelmed and unable to cope. I'm registering for your class immediately!

I loved the way you explained this so clearly and really laid out the causes of anxiety, and the ways we can intervene and lessen its impact. Thanks so much for all the amazing teaching you are doing here on UA-cam! You are appreciated!

It's like driving a car and worrying you'll get into an accident.
You can't really worry that you'll follow all the traffic signals and everything because someone can hit you even though if you did everything you're supposed to
    And then
Being confident in yourself that if you do get into an accident, you'll be okay because you've made it this far in life and this won't hinder your growth.
Good luck and happy healing to everyone!

i watched your videos to see if I could help out a loved one and in the process have actually found out of why i am always getting help back with things that I am the one that has benefited immensely and have been able to understand why i feel the way i do and your videos have helped me see that not everyone is "that way" that i have some things that i need to be aware of and i need to build my arsenal of tools and mental weapons against something i have been experiencing since i was 12 yrs old. Literally didnt even know i needed theses for myself but I AM THANKFUL for your time and energy in producing such good quality no BS videos cause they have helped me.
i have a question i get physically ill when i have panic/anxiety attacks. and need to rush to the bathroom nobody really talks about that is it common?

Yes , indeed ! Going out anywhere seemed to trigger a lot of anxiety. ..I'd wake at 2 am and be unable to go back to sleep .... then feel extremely tired and sleepy when it was time to wake up .
Once I did wake up , I had to use the toilet on numerous occasions before I left home .
A big event coming up for me , like my teaching practicals for my final lessons , gave me a bad bout of diarrhoea !
I wish I had the kind of help you're providing us now , when I needed it most ... over 50 years ago ! I'm almost 72 and many thanks from India .

Thank you for this. I have GAD and I have this horrible fear of sharp things for so long.
My body sores a lot when I am really anxious and I wish I could get out of this situation or at least to cope better with it. Actually I can't take any therapy here in my country because professionals in this area charge a lot for therapy and I really can't afford it for the moment but I will continue fighting. Thanks so much for your videos.

I'm aspiring to be a musician but anxiety always makes me feel way too scared to deal with people if I were to get somewhere. I always have this constant fear of being judged or looking stupid because I tend to trip over my sentences or don't know what to say next due to this horrible illness.. I've made people cry and mind blown with the stuff I do, but there's always that little demon in the back of my head telling me "what if this" or "what if that"... "what if you fail and your family and friends judge you for having such a silly asperation.." "what if you make yourself look stupid" "why are you so dumb".... it's horrible! And I'm almost at my breaking point if something doesn't change.. anyway, the tips you supplied in this video are helping me calm down about my anxiety, but I feel like it'll always be there in the back of my mind.

Beerdrinkerunion if you're watching this and you THINK you have anxiety...you have anxiety and it's legit. I think doubting yourself and thinking you're just crazy (as far as anxiety symptoms) just makes it worse. Love your handle, btw

I have an intense, irrational fear of ghosts and it's one of the reasons why I feel even more anxious at night. Mostly i don't know how to cope with it and I'm usually scared about the fact that some ghost is gonna attack me. What should I do?

Would a fear be when someone is in a room, kids are running around and they get anxious. I am thinking of someone and i think their childhood i.e. being yelled at, triggers this fear so they are anxious of someone yelling? Fear of yelling from kids not "behaving"... even tho kids are fine and just being kids! But they are "overreacting with anxiety?" Idk.
