Thank you for watching, this video was kinda rushed but I needed to remake it to emphasize the importance of hydrating it properly. Sorry I haven't been very active, it's been hard to really do anything or get anything done recently, just personal stuff, I'm not gonna even gonna get into it. Hopefully things will get better. Anyways, thanks again for watching my content and all the support, y'all are great. ❤
Great video my dude! I do the 24-hour soak and then boil the popcorn for 30 minutes before checking hydration. Jar, and then sterilize the popcorn! More than one way to skin a cat. Thanks for sharing 🍄🧡
@@luciferslettuce yea Im thinking soaking them over night would probably reduce the boiling time and make it less likely you over cook the popcorn. On my next batch I'm gonna try soaking them. ❤️
@@sidberns1373 your welcome! I make my spawn just a bit different now, I pressure cook the popcorn for 15-20min instead of boiling or simmering it for 1-2 hours. I use bags more then jars now as well, I want to make and updated video but I'm working on other things and don't have much time. Thanks for commenting! 🙂
Definitely, it's my favorite so far. Breaks up so easy on break and shake. Brown rice was a nightmare for me when it came to b&s lol. Thanks for commenting! ❤️
@@sidberns1373 it just has to be moist, not necessarily transparent. As long as it's not dry and powdery in the middle it's good. It's also normal for some of them to split but it shouldn't be a lot of them, less then 10% If you boil it too long the starch from inside will turn to liquid and ooze all over everything and make a mess. There's definitely a sweet spot, I've been hydrating popcorn in my pressure cooker recently instead of boiling it. I've found it to be a lot more consistent. Something as small as a different brand of popcorn, that's a different size or a different percentage of dry ness can have an effect on hydration time. How long are you boiling it? Are you stirring it periodically?
Thanks for getting back to me ok that makes sense, yes I was stirring that was about 2 hrs I think it went about ten mins too long so I’ll try that next time, thanks agin for the help much appreciated 🙏
Really appreciate the detail you go into in this vid (your others too). Re trivets, I have a 6 qt Instant Pot which only fits a quart jar without the trivet, so I'm good to go? Also aside from costs, does corn offer any advantages to the other various grains in mushroom cultivation? Thanks!
Thank you! Yes you should be good to go, I have a 8qt I think but you can take the trivet out, just make sure some waters in there and it works just fine I live a mile up 5280 ft so I PC my grain for three hours, i don't have any issues. 😊

Hey. I finally got something in the mail for you. Sorry it has taken so long. 🍄❤️
@@RawTubeTV thank you! No worries I got enough stuff going, no biggie. ❤️

@depraved420 let me know how you like it when you do brother! Take care.
Thanks for showing me how to check my grain for hydration.
Your welcome! 🙂
That was very thorough. Great video!
Thank you! ❤️
Thanks this is the best explanation I have come across so far 🙏

Great video brother! I was doing mine for 1 hour 45 min but was getting wet rot so now I do 1 hour 30 min and it’s perfect!
Corn!!! Love corn spawn ❤

Lol, good old walfart brand as 90second myco used to say. ❤️
Thanks for the content and information bro🙏👊💯
What the mycelium will eat the paper towel?
More then it will eat the vermiculite lol, don't use it for substrate 😅
@@depraved420 lol na I wouldn’t do that! 😂
My popcorn started to split before getting fully transparent in the middle what am I doing wrong?

O yea the way instant pots are designed it distributes the heat evenly so you really don't have to use a trivet anyway
@@depraved420 Appreciate the response, firing up the cooker right now.
👍
Thank you! ❤️
I soak mine 24 hrs them simmer for 50 min & I still get wet rot
"No pressure cooker":
... Then you just put it in your pressure cooker 🤬
Somewhere towards the end I say that it can be steam sterilized for two hours. Not sure what your upset about. 🙂
