  • I made this video for anyone that's new to mushroom cultivation or just getting into Agar. I cover the basics of what Agar is and how it's used as well as the lab technique involved with subculturing, many focused on using a scalpel but briefly cover tweezers. if you have any questions or need help feel free to email me at depravedmycology@gmail.com.
in this video I'm working with cultures I germinated from spore swabs using the grab and drag technique, if your interested in that technique I have a video on my channel that will show you how it's done.
    • How to use a spore swa...
The genetics I have in this video came from Green Table Gardens, he has a UA-cam channel by that name, here's a link to his channel:

Thank you! I'm really glad everyone liked it I was stressing trying to figure out everything to put into it. Of course when I try to think of something I just go blank, but I think of things throughout the day and usually can remember them. 😂

I usually lick my agar before inoculating. Is that ok?

@@Mushman70 Your welcome! I want to make more videos like this but I can't come up with anything. I just sat down and typed it out in one go and made the video and this video has done way better then all of my other videos, that I put way more time into. This video was like a fluke or something 😅 wish I could get back in that frame of mind 🥴

Thank you! Took forever trying to remember everything I've done and do, I still think I forgot some things so I plan on making another video that's similar. There's so many techniques and variations of everything I think just lab work in general is a good topic to help newer people. Alot of people are intimidated by lab work and Agar. 🙂

    • @turdfarmer777

@@depraved420 I can see that. Most people are just unwilling to try. I must be one of the broken people because very little keeps me from trying new things. Agar is a mix of canning food, baking, and working in a lab. Similar to working on circuit boards as well. I just take what I know and apply it to new things. More people just need to try. What could go wrong?
If you forgot something just make another video. More videos = more views= more comments= more followers! Seems like a win win.
Also like so many say. The best way to learn or learn more is to teach others. so win win win.

My first plate I squirted too much water from the spore syringe on my plate. The plate was covered in white and yellow spots, bad technique on my part too I think. I did manage to get some mycelium from it though to transfer. Steep learning curve to begin with, so this is very helpful.

I can see how the flow hoods are useful. I’m using an SAB and it’s a challenge at times. I’m sure I will get one eventually, I need to develop my sterile technique first anyway. Good vid.

Hey what’s up buddy I have some Thai elephant dung X true albino melmac pigmented version I’m about to harvest tomorrow and I have 3-4 white ones amongst the brown caps! Am I supposed to have white ones in there or did I get some albino ones now? The swans came from you!

    • @depraved420

That's the best thing about them I think. Because they are so close to the cross the genetics can probably produce more diversity and expressions, so there's no telling. The F2 makes, albinos, luecistic and normal pigmented so maybe man, have to wait and see if they make black spores or clear spores. 🙂
