Many thanks for people like you, for posting this type of videos. Few years ago I had the same problem and mechanic told me that repair costs are 500euros aproxmatly… Found this kind of video, replaced PCV valve by myself and costs were 10euros.
Fantastic! Bought an A4 Cabriolet at auction and got it very cheap due to it having a few issues, one being the rough idle and Check Engine light. Everybody else shied away from it. Got it home, did a quick search and found your video. Tested by pinching the hose and, sure enough, the idle flattened out! Woo-hoo! Couldn't get a PCV valve from Audi as none in stock (could order one for $54!). Found one online for $13. Until it arrives, I have installed one off a mid-seventies 302W that's been rolling around in my toolbox for 35+ years! Near perfect fit and works great! Thanks for the video, fixing that made my day!!
Thank you so much your video saved my problems I cannot figure out for the life of me what was wrong with my car soon as I heard your car running in the video I knew I had the same problem I changed it and it went away it's running perfect now thank you thank you thank you
I recently brought an Audi A4 b6 avant 1.9tdi cvt. There’s continuous vibration when it’s in park, drive, neutral and reverse and the only time it would go away is if I put the car in neutral while am driving. The vibration gets louder at higher rpm. The other issue I notice, after while of driving hard and if I switch the car off and turn it back on it would crank up straight away I have to crank few times. If anyone had any issue like this please let me know how you managed to resolve this issue.
Hey, a quick question. Am running Audi A4 b7 1.8T. When i press the accelerator "quickly "from idle there is a weird clicking/ knocking/ stumble sound. So basically the initial press " quick ", there are no knocking sounds or anything after the RPM increases. Any ideas?
Never had an issue like that myself, but a mate had a similar issue with the large PCV at the back of the head. It had a minor leak. Not enough to give a rough idle but made it hesitant off the line and made a light clunk when taking off. Have you done a smoke test?
Nice one Josh its definitely different with fixing cars nowadays its not like the old school mechanics is it mate & mostly likely thermostat on your van buddy
Will be doing the thermostat too, but the radiator is clearly blocked. You severely restricted flow and you can feel quite easily differences in temperature across the cores. Got a new pcv valve for the Audi though and it seems to have fixed my issue. Hope you are doing well mate!
I got a 05 b6 Manuel I have this problem in mine it’s slightly tuned but runs like crap on day rough idle almost died in nuetral thought it’s the blow off or something for the turbo not feeling it pull anymore
Hi, Yes I did. Solved the problem immediately and I assume the part had been degrading for a while because it ran much better than it had for a long time after it was changed. Thanks for watching!
I have not been under the hood of a B8 but they are all fairly similar. This only works for a quick diagnosis on the lower PCV. There are others that can also cause the problem. Thanks for watching!
Hey mate, Rough idles like this are usually pcv or vacuum leaks. I did a smoke test using a vape to look for leaks before working out the PCV issue. Have you scanned the ecu for codes?
Yes I have p0507 p0171 and all the misfire codes. I had a shop smoke test it and they said it was the valve cover but after replacing the valve cover, the pcv and a vacuum line the problem is still there
Sounds exactly like mine! Just put atleast 3k in parts and all of sudden it just shut off on me randomly. Now it doesn’t turn over but when it does it makes this sound.
Hi Paul, I have never dealt with a PCV issue that only happens when cold. I did once have issues with an auxiliary air pump that caused a rough idle when cold.
Check your manifold, for microcracks, or leaks around sensors. Can cause this issue too. When the manifold heats up, the cracks will close themselves due to heat expansion of the metal.
Hi Dayallan, What work have you done so far to try and resolve the issue? Have you done the usual things like replacing ignition coils/plugs? Checked for vacuum leaks?
@ArmouryEnterprises hi hope you well I did not do anything yet and want to start by replacing the PCV valve and temp sensor first. Te car really drives beautifully when cold and I use 15w40 oil as the millage is 147k on the clock

Hi Brian,
That's awesome! Congratulations on your deal. Hope you get the rest of the issues sorted as easily!
Thanks for watching!

Hi Justin!
Glad it helped! And thanks for watching!
I have just come accross this video that you so much
What was that top part you needed to fix? That part is making so much noise on mine now!
Thanks was the vacuum hose totally ripped apart I thought It was the spark plugs
Thanks very much mate. You were spot on. Problem fixed. 🤙😁
Awesome mate. Glad it helped!

hi bro i have same problem with my audi a4 1.6 petrol engine what could it be? it has a rough idle
I got a 05 b6 Manuel I have this problem in mine it’s slightly tuned but runs like crap on day rough idle almost died in nuetral thought it’s the blow off or something for the turbo not feeling it pull anymore
Check the boost solenoid and the Diverter leak along with your charge pipes you might have a vacuum leak
Hi, I was wondering if you ever changed the part and if it fixed your problem?
Hi,
Yes I did. Solved the problem immediately and I assume the part had been degrading for a while because it ran much better than it had for a long time after it was changed.

Hi Guys, I have ab Audi B7 2005 2ltfsi.
Last week car just stalled while driving, did it a few times but got me home.
Any idea what it could be.
Fuel delivery maybe
I'm having a very similar problem with my B8, think it would be any different?

My 2.0 engine does this as well any ideas? I changed the pcv valve and valve cover but still the problem is there. Please help

I just realized I said the same thing again my bad 💀

Haha all good man.
Have you done both PCV valves?
Sounds exactly like mine! Just put atleast 3k in parts and all of sudden it just shut off on me randomly. Now it doesn’t turn over but when it does it makes this sound.
Does it not turn over at all? or turns over but not start?
Car run the exact same but only when it’s cold any ideas

How was your car driving and were there any misfire codes?
Seemed to drive ok when it was off idle but idling around car parks for example it was very rough. It threw a "Lean bank one" code.
Thank u so much
No problem!
Thank you!!!!
No problem!
Hi i have a audi a4 b7 BVB 1.8t . when she is cold she drives nice but when hot she jerks and . everyone seem to be scaredto work on the car

Hi,
I am good, thank you for asking.
Definitely check out the PCV valves but with rough running while hot, I would look at the coil packs first.
@ArmouryEnterprises I will have a look at the coils as well thanks. How does one check if it is the problem?
Does it run rough while it is idling when hot?
I have same problem today
Was it the same valve causing the problem?
I got a a6 2.0t got the same issue.
Save me
