We don't head out to Kapolei enough to eat, but when we do, we usually find good food. For some reason, the Lychee-Lilikoi Lemonade really appeals to me!
Aloha Misty!! Oh I thought that Crab filled Salmon looked soo good with bacon on top, then I became sad because I was allergic, then got happy when you said it was imitation Crab. Lol. Weven eaten there and love the Furikake Chicken and Ube Pie. Gonna try that Lychee Lemonade you had next time. Mahalo for another great review👍🤙😋
Thanks for the review. Saw a vid on this place (when they were only a pop-up stand) so I'm glad to see it is a store front now. We will be on Oahu in Aug and spending some nights in Kapolei, so this is perfect. Have my list of "local" places to try so this will def be one of them now. Thanks again so much!
The old sad Kapolei theaters LOL. Thx Misty for finding another great spot. I love pork katsu and cutlet so having it with a cream of mushroom gravy sounds ono. The salmon look good too. I'mma remember to tell em no forget my salad dressing.
Hi Misty, another great find. I looked at the Yelp photos and all their food looks amazing. Generally, I don't like plate lunches b/c it's heavy on meat and light on vegetables, but Broke Da Mouth Grindz is on a whole different level of gourmet. Dishes are creative, freshly prepared and presented well. I like the crab stuffed salmon, it's a generous portion so $19.99 is not expensive. The garlic furikake chicken looked good too. Onolicious 😋😋
I haven't been there in a while. I loved Annie's Green Garlic dressing and the company discontinued the flavor. I'd always buy it from DTE. I love their salad bar and dairy free ranch. I didn't know they made a sweet potato salad. Thanks for letting me know!
All the dishes looked creative and complex in flavor and texture however was drawn in by the mushroom gravy 🤦😆. I forget about it as Hawaii loves it's brown gravy but I love mushroom gravy too and was cool to see Broke Da Mouth choose it as an alternative to a local comfort food staple 👍. Chilly today and haven't eaten yet, want some now and I do have leftover chicken 🤔.......(looking in my cupboard: "Wea my can mushroom soup stay?" 😉)
Sweet, That's my route area. Gotta try the pork... at first glance I thought it was country gravy so I was already drooling. But your description sounds so good. I usually go to the Texaco on the other end but looks like I'll be stopping there next week... Mahalo Misty.
Awesome! It is like country gravy pretty much. Just needs more pepper to be like a country gravy. This one is more garlicky. Just be sure to check the hours in the description box. They take a break between lunch and dinner and closed certain days.
Oooooooohhh…that salmon plate looks like the one I’ll try first, with that potatoe salad. I love trying new things. Especially when someone I trust says it’s good! Thanks for another mouth watering video Misty 🤙🏼🤙🏼 I sure would love a gulp of that drink right now. 🤤
Great video! The food looks amazing ❤ the potato salad is really unique. Thank you for doing a well detailed review. How far away is this place from Waikiki, do you think?
Very cool Misty! Let me just say that as a general rule I can be talked into doing any number of really shady things for anything lilikoi alone, the lychee on top of that I don't even want to speculate... That lemonade is a must try now kinda thing, no doubt! Thank you Misty for more awesome videos. You always rockin!!!
Aiyah I miss this video. Again, live right up the hill and still never check out over here. I believe Sean featured this place too. But you right, Kapolei has changed so much since moving this side back in 2006. Still wondering when that alleged Don Quijote is supposed to be built at the old Kmart. One day I'll try here -- just gotta go aaaalll da way down da hill! 🤣
I would've gone rogue and mixed the lilikoi/lychee with gravy for the salad dressing😂 But on the positive side, at least the salad was packed separately so you could dress the salad yourself later so you don't waste it or lose out on the salad
Haha that's pretty creative thinking! I do like that the salad was separate. That is rare these days. The only other place I can think of off the top of my head that does that is Ray's Cafe.
I tried to go there. Google said they were open. I even called but no one answered the phone. Still drove down there only to find they were closed. Don't think there was a sign saying why they were closed. Left disappointed and to be honest, a bit mad that I wasted gas and my time. Supported Local at Chun Wah Kam across the street.
I put their hours in the description box. They close on Tuesday Wednesday. And also close between lunch and dinner for a break. I heard they don't answer the phone a lot but it's because there's only 2 girls and the cook in there and the line was super long.
Aloha Misty: That salmon plate looks so yummy; huge, also - enough for a day’s meal. Things have changed for the better on the west-side of Oahu. Looking forward to the next vlog of your “Yummy” adventure. Wishing you, and Aiden, Kung Hee Faat Choy. 🧧 Hope you got to get some gao, and jai, from one of shops in Chinatown to celebrate the “Year of the Rabbit.” Best wishes and much 🤙!
Mahalo Bill! I'm part Chinese but weirdly don't celebrate Chinese New Year. My aunty made some jai, but that's about all I do. 🤣 I know I'm terrible. But I hope you had a great Lunar New Year of your family celebrated it. Have a great week!
@@FoodFiend Misty: You did a good celebration for Lunar New Year by embracing your culture. Having some jai is a way of honoring the new year - each ingredient has a symbol to foster a great year ahead. Be sure to pass our heritage to you young one! Best wishes and aloha, my fellow alumni! 🤙🧧

It was really good! I think you'd enjoy that drink, but there were many flavors to choose from.
Plate lunches looked yummy. Thanks for sharing. I miss them so much.👍
You're welcome Gamaliel! 😊

Awesome! What a rollercoaster of emotions but I'm glad it ends with happiness that it's imitation crab. 🤣 have a great week Sean!
That lemonade looked so good, so good in fact it felt kinda summerish in my living room for a minute. Lol. Looking great as always Misty. Rock on!
Thanks Mike! I'm glad I could bring some summer into your living room! 🌞 😊🤟
That's some pretty fancy fusion food there.
Those meals looked fantastic, and the fresh drink as well. Making me hungry, lol! Thanks for another local find!
You're welcome Elizabeth! Have a great weekend! 🤙

Awesome. Hope your vacation is out of this world. There's tons of places to eat in the Kapolei area. Have a great weekend!
food looks yummy thanks for sharing your video
🤙❤️
I always make purple sweet potatoe salad with mayo tuna & galic powder salt & pepper always wipe out when I take to parties!
Oh sounds good! Minus the tuna for me. 🤣

Yes and the chili peppa water too! 😊
Both dishes looked Ono 🍝gotta try that place one day tnx for the share 🌺🤙🌺
Mahalo for watching. Yes please try it it was super yummy. Wish I had room for dessert

Yes so creative and delicious compared to the normal boring plate lunch.
Thanks for another delicious recommendation. Gotta try that lemonade. Broke da Mouth..."All Loose!" 🤣 Have a nice weekend.
Yes the li hing lemonade looked so good but my blood sugar said no to that large sized jar. 🤣
Ok gotta try them...when I pass they look crowded. Your choices looked yummy and I gotta try the Okinawa potato salad and dessert 😅🤣
Yes everything was ono! Try em
Broke da Mouth, make all your viewers hungry 🤣. Thanks for another onolicious looking recommendation. Have a good weekend (I'll be working as well 😐).
Thanks! Have a great weekend at work. 💪
Down to Earth has had their own version of sweet potato salad for quite some time. Thanks for your review! Sounds ono
I haven't been there in a while. I loved Annie's Green Garlic dressing and the company discontinued the flavor. I'd always buy it from DTE. I love their salad bar and dairy free ranch. I didn't know they made a sweet potato salad. Thanks for letting me know!
Aloha Misty food looks great in this video! Have a great weekend 🎉
Have a great weekend Paula!
Happy Aloha Friday Misty! The food looks so ono and the the drink too! Definitely missing home…. Have a good weekend !
Have a great weekend. 🤙
Oh my the beginning of vlog was fantastic 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 I can't believe the food scene is so unbelievable.....yup a little jealous and yes I'm a garlic lover.
Thanks TE! Yay for garlic lovers! 🤤🤙
@@FoodFiend Your vlogs get better and better
@@telawsonartzy6880 I try. It's hard to keep up with though.
Went there in Kona, so delicious. Glad to see them in Oahu. Only bad things is having to decide what to order! 😋
Yes that is the problem. Everything on the menu sounds delicious! 🤙
Howdy Misty !
Enjoyed the latest clip.
There's also a 'Broke Da Mouth Grindz' in Kona.
Maybe a branch of it ???
Doug.
Aloha Doug! Yes I believe they're a branch off of the one in Kona. Have a great weekend! 🤙

@Food Fiend thank you, I saw that. I'm usually done by 11 so it's perfect. Although not always, definitely be done before 2. Haha

Thanks for another mouth watering video Misty 🤙🏼🤙🏼
I sure would love a gulp of that drink right now. 🤤
It was goof but I liked the pork better. But the menu is humongous! I didn't even know where to start!
Great video! The food looks amazing ❤ the potato salad is really unique. Thank you for doing a well detailed review. How far away is this place from Waikiki, do you think?
Hi Debbie. This place is about a 30 minute drive from Waikiki. It is closer to the Disney Aulani Hotel.
Thank for sharing the food. What was the name and artist of your song intro? Mahalo
I use royalty free music for my videos. But the artist is Dusty Decks - "Jaded Jacket" Mahalo for watching. 🤙

🤣 I hear you. I used to live up the hill and didn't even want to go to Malama Market. I'd just sit there and starve.

I thought you could reuse canning jars as long as they are sanitized? Maybe need new lids?
Yes that's what I meant. Need new lids.

Yes. I think a little more pepper and it would be like that yummy sausage gravy without the sausage.

Hi misty that food looks fantastic! I remember watching one of Amanda and Felix eats videos and they showcased their foods as well. Great place
Awesome! Glad this place is getting exposure. They also have a place in Kona too!
