He honestly didn't believe everything he said. He wanted to start discussions. As a comedian and one of the "inventors" of "observational humor" (he hated that tern), his career advanced into deep satire like this. In one of his skits he says he doesn't clean every part of his body when he showers. Describes it at length. In an interview, his wife said he absolutely cleaned himself with every shower and after every bathroom break. His point wasn't to empower filthy people but to gross out the majority of people to make them laugh - and maybe get them to realize that they can't trust everyone they shake hands with to have washed properly.

I get where Carlin is coming from in how he found the fear of terrorism borderline absurd. Anyone old enough to properly remember the Cold War and the associated existential anxiety tied to what was basically an extinction level event really had no bloody business getting wound up about terrorism (which very much existed before the 9/11 attacks - it was regularly in the news for pretty much the entire 20th century) such that they were willing to give up freedoms that were sacrosanct even in the face of nuclear annihilation. It was a sad spectacle to observe. The level of threat between the two wasn’t even comparable yet people bought into the notion that terrorism was suddenly an even greater existential threat because of their shock over one dramatic moment.

I’ll tell you security theater. The Real ID. You need to get more paperwork for a drivers license to get on a plane like a drivers license or birth certificate- which the government already issued you. So instead of just double checking it’s own resources you have to give them a copy. Also all the 9-11 terrorists were here legally and none were US citizens.

Safety and security are dangerous. These days we carry around devices that we can be surveilled from at any time. We set up self imposed surveillance in our own homes and vehicles. Anyone with the technical ability and any reason they want to make up can get into any system to watch and listen to everything we say and do. All for the sake of "safety and security". Many of us put all of our business out there for anyone to see through social media, which is archived and stored to be used at any time that someone feels it's necessary to drag it back out again. Convenience breeds complacency. Complacency is what the powers-that-be want from their population. It makes it much easier to "divide and conquer", which is exactly what is happening as we speak.

I can see you, bro. I can see you hold it in. You want to say "He's not wrong." And he isn't. The greatest philosopher of an era.
And I don't think he could be censored. A guy like Carlin, he'd find a way to slap society in the mouth with an unparalleled, and masterful use of the English language.

Me, and my family didn't take any vaccine against th e"Bird flu", then came the "Swine flu", and my wife was anxious, so we went and got a vaccine against that.
What I didn't know at the time, one sideeffect from Swineflu vaccine was "Sleeping sickness".
At work I just couldn't stay awake. If me and my family drove to vist my father and his wife 40 Km away, I had to stop along the way, and sleep for 15 min.
I ended up getting fired because I fell asleep in my job.
Then along came Cov1d. And I wanted to go abroad, and stay for sometime.
To do that, I had to get 2 shots of the thing. I hope I don't get any side effects now.

He's not wrong when he said people dying in general is fun to watch. Think of how many people are glued to the news. or tragic movies, plays, and books. Stories about war, disasters, end of the world scenarios, murders, etc. Saw, 2012, Hostile, True Crime Documentaries, etc. Death in stories spices it up quite nicely. Especially if it's real. More emotionally engaging and attaching. Tool (the band) said it well in Vicarious.
    Eye on the TV
    'Cause tragedy thrills me
    Whatever flavor
    It happens to be like
    "Killed by the husband"
    "Drowned by the ocean"
    "Shot by his own son"
"She used the poison in his tea"
    And kissed him goodbye
    That's my kind of story
It's no fun 'til someone dies
Cause I need to watch things die
    From a distance
Vicariously I, live while the whole world dies
You all need it too, don't lie
The universe is hostile, so Impersonal. Devour to survive
So it is, so it's always been
Vicariously I, live while the whole world dies
    Much better you than I

Funny little anecdote... Years and years ago in my old life in the AV industry I was coming back home from a gig that I was doing out of town and I was arriving very last minute for a flight and was running my a$$ off trying to go through all the points to get to our plane and at security as I was putting my technician's tool case, full of tools and connectors and cables and batteries and multi-tester up on the x-ray machine, I said to the security guy, "Jeez everything looks like a bomb in that..."
... and the guy didn't even look at me, just closed his eyes and shook his head... I was FREAKING LUCKY I wasn't immediately handcuffed and taken into a back room somewhere for interrogation for hours !

Yeah, that sounds terrible to hear about loads of people getting killed as entertainment. But he brought up in other live shows about people jumping from buildings with their hair on fire. And car races too where people could get hurt. And he brought up before that people like to watch stuff like that and if u say you don't, you're lying he said. Well, I know if fire trucks, or ambulances are close by, especially if there's several, I want to see what happened. Not in a sadistic way, but curious. And bad accidents, really makes me look. Like "OMG!"..... what happened there!!
And I'm sure George meant it in that same way. I think he really cared for humanity and he used his comic genius to point out alot of crap that's being dumped on the people and maybe so people will question things and do something about it.
And he did see how the rich try to keep the people divided so they don't come together in Unity. He knew United we stand.... divided we fall.
I did feel funny when he did that though about killing loads of people.
I thought, 'was he starting to crack
or start losing it because of all the crap going on in the world?'
We don't have to agree on all the stuff he said. Thanks for your Reaction. 😊🙏

There's a book I read a while ago, Guns, Germs and Steel, that actually states that, way back when in hunter gatherer times, natural selection favored the smart. That's when we developed most of our brains. When we started to live in communities and settled down, this changed. Diseases became a much more dangerous thing and for the past few thousand years, natural selection has favored those with a good immune system, not intelligence. And it shows.
