It's great to know you watch scandal. Try Generations they also mix most of the South African languages, you will understand some of what is being said

@siyabonga Mviko I understand the word Bantu was used as degrading term to black South Africans in apartheid period by colonialists but my friends its meaning and use has evolved over time and its now used all over africa to refer to a group of people with similar origins from cameroon who moved and settled east central and south of africa, besides how can I be racist when I am a Bantu from Africa trying to learn more about our connections!?Its like saying african americans are racists for calling each other niggers😂

💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿You are the first person to tell me my accent sounds "Swahilish" and I'm happy. Thank you 😊
Zanele, my daughter, receive my encouragement in your noble endeavors to make us Africans realize how similar we are. The tragedy is that we strangely see one another through western eyes. Our european-imposed languages and borders have unfortunately suppressed the reality of our connectedness. I'm a Congolese (DRC) who speaks a few foreign languages (French, German, Portuguese) - and others not perfectly (Spanish, Italian, Japanese, etc.), - and I've had the privilege of staying in a few african countries (Burundi, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique and South Africa). Being a language enthusiast, I've been struck by the similarity of the languages in those countries.
To add to your good presentation in this video, almost any bantu language speaking person would relate when I count from 1 to 5 in my language Tshiluba (also written Ciluba), spoken by Baluba in central DRC :
1 umwa, 2 ibidi, 3 isatu, 4 inayi, 5 itanu. From 10 to 15: 10 dikumi, 11 dikumi ni umwa, 12 dikumi ni ibidi, 13 dikumi ni isatu, 14 dikumi ni inayi, 15 dikumi ni itanu. And from 20 to 50: 20 makumi abidi, 30 makumi asatu, 40 makumi anayi, 50 makumi atanu.
The linguistic similarity is not only in words, but even in whole expressions. I couldn't believe it when I heard South Africans say: "wafawafa, wahlalawahlala". I was shocked, because in Tshiluba, the expression, having exactly the same meaning, is: "wafwawafwa, washalawashala"!
That told me that a few centuries and thousands of kilometers may have separated us, but culture, language and philosophy keep us together as one people.
We just need to dare face the facts to acknowledge that.
Well done once again!
Oh wow😲 this has been soooo eye opening those numbers are so close to most languages. It's amazing just how similar we are without most of us knowing this. Wow I'm impressed!
Even Swahili the numbers are similar.
In my Kikuyu language,
1 is imwe
2.igiri.
3.ithatu.
4.inya.
5.ithano.
...quite very similar.
I think you are linguistic genius like Zanele.
Swahili and Siswati.....very similar to Shona! All Bantu languages! You are right, we are very similar and we need to embrace each other!
Hi Thomas, very very true I have a friend from Zim she speaks Shona at some point we could understand each others languages. We are one my brother no need for the hate amongst us
So why did you leave Shona out when it's 99% same as the words you wrote eg.
Shona / Swahili
Rara / lala
Kurima / kulima
Vhura / vhula
Mbudzi / mbuzi
Huku / kuku
Mwaka / mwaka
Mbiri / mbili
Mazai / mayai
Funda / funza
Imbwa / mbwa (dog)
Nguruve / nguruwe (pig)
Miti / miti (trees)
Imvi / mvi (white hair)

What are they for? I agree that they should be removed
Borders deny us our rightful History.
Im Kenyan what i learn is that in eswatini they just add letter "i" from those Swahili words
For most words we just add one of the vowels "a e i o u"
Kinyarwarwanda and kirundi we add also "i"
Kijana Hodari originally many Bantu languages are added i ,look and Luyha and Kisii,
This Kiswahili is abit a mixture of Bantu and Arabic where there's consolidation and we adopted Zanzibar's Swahili, that's why

It's very possible. I was talking to a Zimbabwean the other day. Thimlich Ohinga ruins is a historical site in Migori, Kenya, which is built exactly like Old Zimbabwe ruins. The Luo inhabitants claim that it was built by some Bantu groups, attributing it to Abagusii. However, the fact that Abagusii live not far from there and they didn't build anything similar elsewhere may suggest that those who built it actually have a connection with the people who built Old Zimbabwe.

From congo , we say thank you. Swahili lugha yetu tangu utoto. My parents teach me french before my mother tongue swahili. Now i have regret, i Want to learn my children my best tongue: swahili first and Kikongo in second
I love your spirit. If all Africans can have that mentality, we will be able to reclaim everything that was lost in Africa.
swahili is the language of future.. swahili speaking congolese will have a big advantage when east africa intergrate.. french speakers are just alone, speaking only to other french speakers
I live un canada , when i meet someone who speaks swahili, i am happy. Speaking english is not exotic. We grew up with this ignorance. It means that we were made to believe that to be intellectual is to lear and to speak the language of the colonizer. At school in my contry Congo, when we spoke swahili or others languages, we were beaten up by the teacher. It’s nonsense
@@bosspkabambi9372 as if french has benefited congo.. english nowadays is just for economic reasons, because the english speaking world controls world economy and politics..nothing exotic about it.
@@bosspkabambi9372 aha! That is exactly the same thing in my country and here in Kenya. Why would you beat someone for speaking their languages. Absolutely ridiculous! Unfortunately kids still get punished for speaking their languages
This video made me take a different look that I had not considered before.
While there is no doubt that the languages are related, I am now convinced that Siswati was the original language of my people in East Africa. Swahili is greatly influenced by Arabic hence the little differences. But Siswati sounds more like unaltered Bantu dialect.
Haha we should look look into it. If its true we might have to make Siswati the unifying African language 💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿

Your doing a good job
Am a Taita from Kenya and we have similar words like mlango - mnyango
Oh wow that is similar
Im taita too, so many similar words
I believe the similarities are due to the fact that the speakers are all part of the bantu family which Swahili also borrows from and With the bantu migration from Central through East and then towards southern Africa.
Kiswahili doesn't borrow from Bantu, kiswahili is a Bantu language.
True, also the ngoni/nguni migration from South Africa to the the rest of the continent has had quite alot of influence on all bantu languages
@@kenyainfo2251Very well put. Many of us do not know this, but, I'll try to suggest the following in short. Kiswahili came into being when people coming from different parts of Africa - namely, Central, Eastern and Southern - were gathered together and needed to communicate with one another.
Who were those people?
Long before the European slave traders came to our shores, and long after they had stopped that evil trade on the western coast of our continent, the Arabs were busy with that trade on the eastern coast. They brought people from as far in land as present-day DR Congo, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique (this country being named after Musa ben Biki), etc and gathered them on the east coast to get them on ships to the Middle East. The effort of all those bantu people to communicate lead to the formation of the beautiful language we know today to be Kiswahili. Descendents of the Swahili slaves have proven to be reluctant to denounce the atrocities of Islam and the Arabs to avoid offending the religion that their ancestors were forced to embrace to escape further harshly brutal dehumanizing treatment they received at the hands of the Arab slave traders. That's, briefly put, how Kiswahili came about. I've lived or stayed in 7 central, eastern and southern african countries and, as a language enthusiast, I've realized the contribution of all languages in those countries to lugha tukufu la Kiswahili, which we need to cherish and promote as a major unifying factor of the bantu people.
Best regards.
