Thank you for the great video! My question is why is all three materials necessary for the tub repair? What happens if I just apply the resin and the putty, or just the resin plus the short glass bond? Thank you.
Thank you for doing this Video. I have the same problem in my Shower Stall. Except my problems are more numerous. Cracks, soft spots like yours. But worse of all is a crack around my drain. I really don't know how to fix the drain area. If you or any of your Viewers have any suggestions. I would GREATLY appreciate it. I'm trying NOT to have to replace the entire shower. I can't afford it. Again, thank you ... 🙏🙏🙏
Excellent video. What type of spray foam to use? Also are you drilling through the entire tub to shoot the foam down to the floor or plywood under tub?
This little ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxVoi3B4CB6Oygq1-vo4OTL1M_M5JkrXif tub works perfect in our 6 x 6 shower and is easy to get in and out. Also easy to drain.

Great video thank you for sharing. This helps! How long did you wait between applying Bondo glass then sanding? Also, same thing with putty and sanding?
Refinished my tub twice with rustolium tub paint and another brand "tub paint " eventually chips and peels, use two part epoxy recoat product , like stone coat counter top epoxy or equivilent , paint just doesn't last .
Do you need the bondo putty? Can you get the bondo glass smooth enough and paint over that? I'm sure there is a reason, but I am concerned to use non waterproof layer on top. Thanks.
Danny I missed the live premiere will you have it any place where I can go and watch it thanks happy New Year to you guys I guess I wanted to be able to comment too but I did here though so thank you Danny
Ok so drilling holes around the crack and filling with foam helps so it doesn’t crack when you step on it? Because someone came to do this job to my bathtub but didn’t drill holes and a couples weeks later it cracked when i stepped on it
@@cry_now_laugh_later Exactly. There is a lot of space under bathtubs! The insulation foam he used is not designed for structural support. You can spray that foam to fill the A/C line penetration into a house but it is not designed to support weight!!!
Hey really liked ur vid. What kind of primer do you recommend to get. I have a cracked bathtub and I reglazed it before and the original color is stained yellow. New paint is white
Thank for posting this video. I have a 3 inch crack in my bath tube, crack is super tight (can barely see it). I have access to the bottom-back of tub as shower in on second floor above my garage. My question for you is: Would it work if I follow all your repair steps and work only on the back of the tub? Im trying to avoid drilling holes, sanding, and painting tub. I would rater patch and paint my garage ceiling. I would appreciate any feedback.
Is there an inexpensive spray gun and compressor that you would recommend? I'm just starting out just doing repairs. Would the krylon tub and tile be good enough for repair work and no gun needed?
Can't find any Tub and Tile Spray Paint in stock, but I can get Rustoleum Appliance Epoxy Spray Paint. Has anyone used this after making a bondo patch for a shower basin?
I'm worried about fumes, should I be, my hot water heater is in the same room electric but still worried about it clicking on and off my gas to my furnace is off so no pilot light there but also worried about my window air conditioner clicking on and off as well as the pilot light for my gas stove! Hope you see this and can reply any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks.
I'm about to fix a crack but in the contour of the where the sides meet. My question is how do I keep the resin from running down the tub AND do I just use a plastic mixing bowl to mix putty/hardener ? My 1st question is the one I'm unsure of and need advice please.
I would mix the putty/hardner on a piece of cardboard. IT is flat like the tub, will let you mix it well and then get it to the tub using a putty knife or spreader like he did. You'll lose a good bit if you do it in a bowl.
your list of materials was quite long. can you simplify that list by listing just the products you use in this video minus sandpaper, tools in the order you used them. In other words, just the foam and the liquids used? That list was overwhelming and listed 2 different products for the final paint application: Krylon Alternative: Rustoleum Tub and Tile White: and Rustoleum Applicance Spray White; not sure which is suppose to be used. I also dont recall you using tack cloth, caulking DAP Stretch, acid etch, epoxy remover or duct tubing unless you didn't show these steps, which makes it confusing to know what to actually do. please clarify
I followed this for an almost identical crack in my shower surround tub but the foam has created a hump in the fiberglass floor. Should I cut a hole so I can remove some foam and then patch it using the method in this video or is there a better way? I'm worried about drainage. I welcome all suggestions. Thanks.
Can't I just caulk it and call it good ? Just playing. That was a good video to watch for those in Bathroom Remodeling or for a Handyman service. My concern comes with the aftercare of your patch and how best to avoid removing ANY of the patch while using a cleaner.
Do not underestimate category 3 acute toxicity level when you are working without high quality respirator and other protective equipment. Bondo resin fume and dust is extremely toxic and it can destroy your lungs, liver. This video does not cover that.
That was Rust-Oleum on fiberglass lol ..... Not professional, gel coat people. Spray, wet sand polish. No holes proper reinforcement and a high quality finish

Nice job, hope you put on a mask while sanding epoxy.

Would regular bondo autobody filler work as a substitute for the bondo all purpose putty?
Really good info!
How long did this job take?? I'm reading you should wait 2-7 days b4 sanding resin??
Thank you!!
Why don't you use regular auto Bondo?
What I use is sold at Auto Zone

obviously until its fully dry--depending on climate could be 15-20 minutes

He sanded completely through most of the top putty, so not sure why it's needed either.
Dptubs. I need your help. Why would you do these additional steps rather than just using the foam and flex seal?

What about if a crack is right next to textured area
hi, great video, a question you put a few coats and how long you wait between? thnaks
Avoid the chance of cracking by installing a cement bed to set the tub in during installation.
Morter....
Is it completely a have to when it comes to the bondo putty? I have everything except that and need to get this done. Can the putty be added later?
My concern is the durability of the appliance paint. I would use the Rustolium Tub & Tile paint.
Background music sounds about like the same music from farming simulator lmao.
Ha ha ha 😂
ok but wont the paint just get washed off?
Hey really liked ur vid. What kind of primer do you recommend to get. I have a cracked bathtub and I reglazed it before and the original color is stained yellow. New paint is white
I didn’t put bondo glass does it make a difference? 😮
Isnt that gonna crack again. Doesnt it need some flex to it?

It is called a hairline or a spider crack, I have repaired but not his way lol, as I am a fiberglass specialist
Is there an inexpensive spray gun and compressor that you would recommend? I'm just starting out just doing repairs. Would the krylon tub and tile be good enough for repair work and no gun needed?
You can try the Wagner Flexio 3000
Do you need the bondo glass after the resin and mesh
i use it for added reinforcement but it is not necessary
Curious how long each application of materials take to dry for you.
I think I may have a vikrell tub with a hairline crack in it. Can this method be followed to repair?
Is it necessary to drill holes? Can I get the same results just without the drilling
If you don’t need support or don’t need to add foam then you’re good
I think the holes is to stop the cracks from spreading past the end of the cracks.
I don’t think foam is strong enough to withstand the weight/pressure. Have you tried to test the strength of the foam?
Same question as everyone else, don’t see a response anywhere. Especially about the putty...
Can I use bondo glass in an acrylic bathtub? If not, what should I use?
Yes
Can't find any Tub and Tile Spray Paint in stock, but I can get Rustoleum Appliance Epoxy Spray Paint. Has anyone used this after making a bondo patch for a shower basin?
And another question what step did you use the napco extra strength etch
No etch is used on a fiberglass repair
My appliance paint patch from my repair turned brownish & looks dirty. I'm afraid to scrub it.
Does it matter if you use cloth or matt? I have cloth already
Cloth is a little thicker and for me not as easy to use but it’s perfect and will be strong.
How much do you charge for something like this? Our tub need it ooo.
Yes how much would you charge for this work???
How long do you have to wait to shower?
48 hours
Thank you
Good.
