  • This is the story of the final, tragic phase of World War Two.
By the early months of 1945, Hitler had lost all grip on the military realities which faced Germany. The Allied Strategic Bombing Offensive had reduced much of Berlin to rubble and by April 25th the Red Army had completely surrounded the city, trapping 500,000 German troops in the western suburbs. These shattered streets became the scenes of bitter hand-to-hand fighting between eight Russian Armies and the pathetic remains of the Home Guard, SS Werhmacht and the Hitler Youth.
On April 30, the Reichstag was stormed and the Fuhrer committed suicide. The city and its population lay at the mercy of the Russians, who exacted a terrible revenge.

So many crazy stories during the war. If you spent a 1000 years you still couldn't listen to them all. Each individual involved has many stories. Most of them brutal. Awful times ppl lived through but its a pleasure to learn about what happened.

This documentary is very well done, I live in Berlin and I am passionate about this battle, whose signs can still be seen today if you know how and where to look, some buildings still have bullet holes. The best I have seen so far on this argument, well done guys.

Those flak towers were so big that the allies tried to destroy them point blank after the war and couldn’t. So, they buried them, but you can still see the back of them if you went there to see them and can even still go inside them. You’d probably need special permission, I’d assume.

The announcer mentioned about the deranged mind of hitler , and I firmly agree with him. The problem with the deranged mind of hitler is that he caused the death 💀 of many, many innocent people and animals who had absolutely no control whatsoever about their own lives and deaths 😢

Don't criticize the volkstrum, remember Winston Churchills speech about fighting on the beaches. He had the same idea of mobilizing the civilian population to fight a German invasion long enough to buy the time needed for the aristocrats to flee safely to Canada.
