my parents fought against the nazis. my father was in the american army and my mother was smuggled out of Austria when the nazis invaded and sent to England where she joined the british army. So did my Dad, serving as a bomb loader and armorer on B-26's in Africa, later Sardinia and up into France and finally after the war, stationed in Linz, Hitler's home town in Austria. I have all my Dad's letters he wrote home, and lots of photos, his dogtags, etc. Just yesterday at an antique mall here in FL I found a clean and pressed Army Air Force uniform like my Dad would have worn. It was made of fine wool, and I looked at the sewing and it was very well done. Our men had quality clothes over there at any rate. It just gave me a little heart tug to see that uniform. We owe so much to our fathers and mothers for their determination not to be beaten. I am reading The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich and how Hitler's army was falling apart once it turned on Russia. The cold has always been Russia's best weapon. The Wehrmacht didn't have proper heavy coats, socks, boots -- many cases of frostbite among them, for example. By that point they probably didn't have very plentiful rations either. The generals just could not take their men the final 50 miles to conquer Moscow. When we visited Leningrad a few years ago, we saw a sign, whether in a museum or the main drag, Nevsky Prospekt, saying, "Comrades, use the other side of the street because the buildings will protect you from German shelling." There were still a few holes in walls here and there. Fairly few images of Lenin and none of Stalin.

This is excellent - what a great find! Such a gripping story and admirably well acted. Gives an insight into the end days of the Nazi regime within one of the many small pockets of its horror but one most of us are unfamiliar with: a disparate, motley crew of victims, adults, children, soldiers, priests, of different nationalities, all thrown together by circumstance and hoping to survive (both the cruelty of the SS & the oblivious Allied bombing from above) Deserves more than 37K views. The title however is a little misleading. Nevertheless, riveting stuff...

We, in the Caribbean, with our history of racism n oppression, n in the face of said racism, STILL did our bit to fight Nazi oppression…. The RAF enlisted 5,500 men from the Caribbean, most to be trained as ground crew - mechanics and maintenance staff of the aircraft. Around 400 trained as aircrew of whom about 70 served as pilots and navigators. They earned 103 military decorations…Arthur Wint, Jamaica’s first Olympic Gold Medalist in 1948 was a RAF pilot …
Thank you for posting this video such a great documentary that we would never had known of. They lived to tell the world, so that we would not forget. Peace and Love to all.
I have viewed many a documentary about Germany during World War II. But this one is the best, hands down. Fascinating history and spliendid acting all around.
My Grandfather was in the SOE and fought with the French resistance. He was captured by the Nazies and tortured. He was somehow smuggled out and taken to the Canadian troops where he was taken by the Red Cross and sent home with a broken back. The Nazies had broken his back. He disclosed nothing. I would like to know who smuggled him out and thank them if they are still alive.
Well documented, almost feels like a movie. U were all so brave. I thank u for your sacrifices, and hope they weren't in vain forever. Not just for generations to come.
Story's like this brake my heart. Wars make many rich .As long as profits are involved there will be wars. Weapons manufacturers feast on tax dollars and human misery. America is the largest Arms manufacturer in the world. All without a second thought.
Missleading title but great documentory about others than the the awful stories, it was awful , don't get me wrong, but also about the courage of the survivors , great job !!

Watching the scene where children are eating makes me think of the different fate that waited the Jewish children and somehow makes those poor children seem even more tragic
This documentary is perfectly executed, to see something ahead of time before it could happen, is amazing if a particular individual becomes president America, in project 2025, will be executed, and we would be seeing the exact things happen as we can see them now here. I know this is not a political channel, but Just by seeing this and remembering with my grandfather that wasn’t World War II telling me about a particular individual that he should never step into the White House at that time, and he did, so I would say we’re hoping he does not touch the White House steps, or the project of 2025 will evolve and we would be seeing this within America. The 45th president should never step again into the White House.
