Listen to both but I have to say I'm more biased towards Jpop. I've noticed that (most but not all) mainstream Kpop songs are always about love and party with too much repetition of some words that sometimes I feel like the song is made up of only those few words.. It's kinda hard for me to relate to them. I only listen to them when I feel like it probably because I'm a lyric-kind of person. I always look through the lyrics of songs. I do love K-ballad songs due to the lyrics. Jpop, on the other hand gives a wide variety of themes. They can sing about life, self/peer encouragement, love, friendship, overcoming fears and more. Giving their songs deeper meaning and impression. They incorporate seasons and metaphors in their lyric, some have hidden meaning and some are direct. They can make you cry, they can cheer you up and touch your heart. I find it easier to relate. So happy my favourite Lead, Arashi, Kat-tun, JSB, SMAP, W-inds, SHINee, FT-Island, V6, Yamapi are in here but a little sad that Miura Daichi and Rain are not in this. Those that think all Japanese songs sound like anime OP and ED are just not looking at it hard enough. It's because they fit into any theme that their songs can be used for anime. Jpop =/= anime
+Shunkai92 you should try and listen to the Kpop group BTS. While some of their main songs are about love, their other songs on all their albums talk about the ups and downs of life. Try the song Move (이사) or Born Singer or Dope. - their MV's and overall concept for I need U & their part 2 for mood for love cd is reallllly well put together (they also wrote all their songs)
dduk8926 Thanks for the recommendation!!! I've checked them out and I have to say I'm starting to like them and their choice of themes for their songs. I kinda have a weak spot for boy bands with rapper that actually raps about proper stuff (explains why I love Lead's Shinya, AAA's Hidaka/Sky-Hi and Kat-tun's Koki) I hope there's more positive comments like yours instead of getting bashed by Kpop fans just because I'm siding Jpop more. In actuality I like both as long as the song, vocal and lyric is good =) 감사합니다 Now my love for Kpop will grow more~

Totally Kpop biased... I have noticed that hairstyles in Japan haven't really changed much in the almost 10 years I've been paying attention to it, while Kpop idols have tried some of the craziest stuff (Big Bang). Maybe some newer groups don't have those same old hairstyles, so what do I know?
To those ppl who say J-pop sounds like anime, it's because anime is in japanese itself XD we got used to it, try listening to a japanese version of a kpop song and see what happens... when I listened to Block B's japanese version of HER it was sooo kawaii~ like anime even the video was!! I was amazed how it turned so different.. My fave current band is Block B, I also like SHINee, U-Kiss, Big bang... and I think that kpop has more quality into their music videos.

I am j-pop and k-pop fan, and i saw many comment that criticize one. The first thing that we have to consider is culture, so that no one can define which one is BETTER , it depends on your like. By the way, in this moment i listen more jpop, so i think i will defend jpop hahaha and sorry for my poor english. Kpop reaches more population, it is fact. But it doesn't mean that is better. From my point of view, k-pop likes more american pop, I think that both have same style. In other hand, jpop was based on american pop, however jpop created its own style. Many people say that k-pop is american pop in Korean. I don't think it is bad, its many positive point in k-pop. I think k-pop boom came because of different concept of idol, in USA idol group isn't much commum, consequently it called attention. in Addition, the fact that they are Asian, it was new in market. Many people can say that jpop couldn't reach the world because it is bad. Its not true! Do you think sincerely that j-pop group have to expand in other continent? Its is unnecessary for j-pop because Japanese music market is the second biggest market in the world, so j-pop doesn't have to across the ocean. Other way Korean market is small compared to japanese, it is why they have to expand. I used to hate Kpop. I would listen to Jpop all the way but then found out that my favorite "Japanese" groups were Shinee and DBSK. I was in for a big surprise once I found out they were Korean. Nowadays Jpop fans bash on Kpop because it is getting known better than Jpop and it is sad that Jpop people act that way. Kpop will always be better than Jpop in my opinion.

There are no better among J-pop and K-pop! K-pop is more westernize than J-pop is. K-pop has sexier concepts and J-pop's concept is cute and innocent. They are different stylistically. Their music style is different so you can't just say who's better.

im both a kpop and jpop fan but i prefer more to jpop. coz i feel their songs have more feelings and the meanings of their songs can tell wonders (and also coz i understand japanese and not korean 😂) People might say tht kpop is better coz of their popularity worldwide but dont forget tht japanese music industry was longer then korean music industry. kpop became more famous lately only. I used to hate Kpop. I would listen to Jpop all the way but then found out that my favorite "Japanese" groups were Shinee and DBSK. I was in for a big surprise once I found out they were Korean. Nowadays Jpop fans bash on Kpop because it is getting known better than Jpop and it is sad that Jpop people act that way. Kpop will always be better than Jpop in my opinion.

Haha, I have chain-watched 'kpop vs jpop' videos and of course, almost all the comments are biased towards kpop. You really can't put up a fight with these two 'cause, clearly, kpop WOULD and ALWAYS win. I've been a jpop fan first but also got into kpop right after. Kpop would certainly win 'cause they've spread their name throughout the world and have more fans.

There are no better among J-pop and K-pop! K-pop is more westernize than J-pop is. K-pop has sexier concepts and J-pop's concept is cute and innocent. They are different stylistically. Their music style is different so you can't just say who's better.
