The 2nd generation will always be my favorite. Unlike today's kpop the songs and dance weren't all the same. It was a sound that western cultures weren't used to so it was bright and something were you could listen and know the group singing because they each had there own sound. Now one group sounds like another. Ive listened since 2008, before it was easy to hear kpop. 2nd generation will always hold a special place in my heart. Jonghyun was my first and last bias. No one can take his place. Rest angel you did real good always.
You ain’t lying💯. But I think Kpop music had their western sound moments/western influences but those sounds were old/behind & unique compare to western music & like you said Kpop was different.
Kerry Shito as she said there was something special about this era and as I wrote the first generation Was as special also where do you get your arrogance from saying kpop fans can't or don't enjoy the songs from their groups of today, they probably enjoy them just as much as you did obviously it's why they are listened by millions I listen to BP and enjoy their songs as I did listening to Fin kl or Baby box, Also the second generation had fans wars Girls Generation and 2NE1 fans were at each other's throats and it was all about who sold the most who won the most awards who were bigger overseas, so it was as important to them as it is today , And as you said I don't know how it was in your country it's called technology and yes even back then you could still search and look things up on the other side of the world But back in 1999 I worked in the Ukraine and met some Koreans it's how I got into kpop and when I came back to England I found 5 radio stations that played kpop so you see kpop didn't start in the west in 2009 Just because you were brought up with kpop does that make you special 🤣😂 my sons were brought listening to kpop and they are in their twenties now, but so what if you were brought up with kpop doesn't make you any better than the fans of today, because they were not brought up with it they appreciate it a lot more , The problem with the fans from the second generation they think that was the start of kpop I bet 99% couldn't even name 5 groups from the first generation and the second generation had huge fan wars so in your own words yes 2009 onwards was a battlefield So didn't know the real joy of kpop and harmony that the first generation had
@@justluvit1 Speaking for myself, I did my research when I got into Kpop & u’re right. Kpop was around before the 1990. It just got the internet/global attention in the late 2000s, it’s now mainstream/trendy in USA. I want nothing more but respect & positivity in the Kpop community like it use to regardless of when someone got into Kpop. Thank for sharing your story, it was great😊.

Suju is the only group which is super versatile.. apart from their group activities, each member has their own solo or sub group activities from duo groups, trio groups, editing,directing,acting, variety etc.. And all of a suju memebers are super active in variety shows and they don't make people get bored of their craziness... No other idol group has all their members good at variety shows...

You grew up in the most nostalgic & best eras of Kpop 💯. I listen to all the groups you’ve names as well as but including 2NE1, Rain, BoA, BLOCK B, 4MINUTE, MBLAQ, Kara, & etc.
2nd Gen is THE EPITOME of K-pop music. Their music was so memorable and what I love the most the choreography was easy to follow. That’s why IMO they will forever BE the best in K-pop. 🥰❤️❤️🥰
Same. Personally i would add Stay and This is war (i mean how can we not mention that MV xD). I still don't get how people completely forgot about them. They were great. Back then they were my second favorite group (Bigbang being the first).
...the best era in kpop for me. so much diversity and interactions among idols, both male and female, were fun. the music is timeless too. these groups and songs will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Most people I see on the internet talk about 3rd or 4th gen KPOP idols, most of which I am not very familiar with because I’m still stuck in this beautiful kpop era of 2nd gen kpop idols. These groups will forever stay in my heart
I've got into Kpop in year 1998, and I've listened to lots of late 80's (Late Shin Hae Chul, Lee Moon Sae, Yim Jaebeom etc) and early 90's Korean songs (from ballad like Park Hyo Shin, Sung Si Kyung, rock ballad like YB, Flower, Kim Kyung Ho, Emarald castle) then start with Kpop Seo Taiji era, Roora, Turbo, Cool, Twotwo, H.O.T, Sechskies, G.O.D, R.ef, Taesaja, S.E.S, FinKl, Shinhwa, Jewelry and many more.. Yes, it was a very interesting moment when being a part that witnessing the evolution of the kpop from only around Asia to worldwide.. Yes, the early generation is the one that paved the way and it was all started all the way from 1st generation (but maybe just certain country know them) I know that Late Shin Hae Chul is the one that bring the experimential rock from west to SK (from late 80's). Lots of big names now like JYP, Yoo Hee Yeol (TOY) etc went to western country in early 90's to learn more on music and with their talent they've created so many masterpiece in Kpop music industry.. But in 2nd generation, this is where Kpop started to be known worldwide.. started from early 2000 where BoA, RAIN, SE7EN, TVXQ, BigBang, Wonder Girls, SS501, FT Island, Suju, SNSD, SHINee, 2ne1, Fx, Brown eyed girls, 2PM, 2AM, IU, Infinite, After School, Miss A, 4Minutes, Mblaq, Ukiss, Beast (Highlight) and many many more~ this is the time where Kpop was known globally, this is when people get to know about the big 3 agencies (SM, YG & JYP) and they started to have so many world tours... I really2 miss the 2nd generation idol interactions and how they were like one very big family, support each other although from different labels, and the fandom also always looking forward to the collaborations between group/labels... sadly started from 3rd generation onwards, there are so many toxic fans (not all but many) that somehow makes the idols have to follow extremely strict rules, and they're not free to be/ show their true self in public..

@@brennathecatlover4360 Nope. Kpop is an industry, and it’s just an umbrella term. In kpop there are soooo many genres and sub genres. Pop, edm, r&b, hiphop, rock, ballad and the list goes on. For example the group Stray kids alone have 32 different genres in their discography and they’re only a 3-year-old group!
I started as KPOP fan in 2014 for EXO but I remember that some ppl were already fans of suju, 2ne1,girls generation at that time and I also got amazed by these groups, I loved F(x), SHINee, 4Minute, Bigbang...massive respect and admiration for them ♥️
i have a feeling that when ppl finally get tired of the retro trend that's going on right now, 2nd gen type music might become the next trend, since a lot of 2nd gen groups are already making comebacks and for some reason everyone's feeling nostalgic lately
But also, do y’all listen how everyone sounds different? Every song has a different vibe to it, even if they are similar styles their still interesting, unique. I’m sorry to say this but now everything sounds the same to me...
Same here!! Tho they have similar styles, vibes are different. These days, I feel like most of the groups have similar concepts and vibes! But kpop industry is getting bigger and songs are still bops. No offense, I really want cute and dreamy girl gp concepts back in 2021 cuz most of the groups have same concepts like girl crush!
I got into kpop in 2014 thanks to 2nd gen groups, Suju was the first, then I found SHINee, TVXQ, BIGBANG, INFINITE, 2PM, BEAST, U-KISS, SNSD, 2NE1...Good old times And now many 2nd gen boy groups are coming back, SHINee and Suju already did their comebacks, Highlight (Beast) did it in May, 2PM comeback after military is this June and looking for Bigbang, TVXQ and INFINITE comebacks too
2NE1 & BIGBANG are the definition of Charima and Stage Presence. They had it even if it's live or mv. They are no longer king and queens. They are Emperor and Empresses already...............💅💅💅💅💅💅
omg dont even get me started on how LIVELY the crowds were during their performances too like i really wish i could of been apart of that experience in a concert witht hem singing cause they really do got that charisma B)
This is the generation where Musicality, Concept, and Talent is the name of the game. This "uniqueness" is what set 2nd Gen kpop the Golden Era. Because every group is different. I took a break in Kpop from 2016 to 2020 (was a fan since 2009), and I agree to most 2nd gen fans here, Kpop did change their sound to something there is no hook for older fans. Don't get me wrong, we get it why this happened since Kpop is exploding in North America now and there is a much younger audience now. But as we always say. they don't make KPOP like this anymore. PS: most of the new stans call 2nd gen, KPop boomers. hahaha yeah right. (most 2nd gen fans are on their post 25s already hahaha)
All of the group have their own music style, I mean like if you heard this kind of music you can recognize which group they're coming from 😭 2nd generation idols remains legendary era ever. sometimes I feel lucky to experience the era during my teenage life somehow because I'm growing up listening all of their song 🥺
Gentle reminder to those who still don’t get the importance and standards set by Gen 2: Most female trainees had to learn Girls Generation’s Into the New World regardless of the agency. ITNW is Girl’s Generation’s debut song at that.

Sorry to burst your bubble but 22 years ago people like myself ( in the UK ) were listening to Fin KL, SES, and Baby Vox, and more long long before GG were even thought off so sorry to say GG followed them, the only reason the first generation wasn't as big is the social media and internet wasn't in its prime, that's why BlackPink are massive compared to GG today

I miss this era of K-pop. It wasn’t all about having a pretty face and a perfect body. It wasn’t all about popularity and video views. It was about making music that people enjoy.
It was about looks back then too. Every single one of the people in these groups were/are conventionally attractive. That was already a big draw of Kpop and has been a draw in all entertainment mediums with people dancing/singing.
I get what you mean, but this was also back when companies like SM had what people called “slave contacts” because they were so strict and abusive towards idols :^/ I recommend watching the 9muses documentary that shows what life was like for them as trainees. It’s horrible.
they stopped prioritising the music and started prioritising choreography and that was the biggest mistake... that's why i find newjeans refreshing because songs like ditto and attention are genuinely really good and not only good with a performance.

Infinite, Highlight (Beast) and MBLAQ were my ultimate fav groups back then. ❤️ ❤️ However I also liked Shinee, 2PM,2AM, Bigbang, 2ne1 and U-Kiss a lot... And Ok I almost loved all songs.. 😂 BEST KPOP GEN (RIP Jonghyun "Y si fuera ella" was one of the best songs ever produced (for me personally))
The dancing, choreography, music, outfits and more has changed over time i can tell the dancing has gotten more detailed and powerful thats what i got out of it truly legendary groups here that helped paved the way for other artists to come in and give us wonderful music i still listen to these groups and their awesome songs Suju, 2pm and other groups back in the day really stick to their unique style of music to this day and they haven't changed a bit such as being hilarious comedians and being super loud LOL love how they stuck to being just themselves
Second generation kpop groups are too good for this world. they were ahead of their time. It was just a golden era when advanced dancing wasn't all that and it wasn't about appealing to the western industry and not being at the top of charts. Some of these groups are older than most groups known now that almost everyone seems to love and are the same groups being slept on because not many people know about them. Props to those groups who are still going strong despite being an underrated group
2nd Generation who make K-Pop famous world wide. After that, the next generation just continued. About the list, for group list, I agreed. About the song, their most legendary song not in the list. Just like Nobody (Wonder Girl), Hot Issue (4Minute), Fire (2Ne1), Mister (Kara), etc is real legendary song who make K-Pop famous in the world.

TRAX made it in! My first K-Pop group, back in the Scorpio days. So underappreciated. This list could've gone forever. No FT Island or CNBlue, no Nobody by Wonder Girls, no Replay by SHINee, only one DBSK track (shook!!), no Heartbreaker by G-Dragon...man, what a rich time for musical experimentation this was, even with the shitty economy. 💙

Suju is the only group which is super versatile.. apart from their group activities, each member has their own solo or sub group activities from duo groups, trio groups, editing,directing,acting, variety etc.. And all of a suju memebers are super active in variety shows and they don't make people get bored of their craziness... No other idol group has all their members good at variety shows...

I've got into Kpop in year 1998, and I've listened to lots of late 80's (Late Shin Hae Chul, Lee Moon Sae, Yim Jaebeom etc) and early 90's Korean songs (from ballad like Park Hyo Shin, Sung Si Kyung, rock ballad like YB, Flower, Kim Kyung Ho, Emarald castle) then start with Kpop Seo Taiji era, Roora, Turbo, Cool, Twotwo, H.O.T, Sechskies, G.O.D, R.ef, Taesaja, S.E.S, FinKl, Shinhwa, Jewelry and many more..
Yes, it was a very interesting moment when being a part that witnessing the evolution of the kpop from only around Asia to worldwide.. Yes, the early generation is the one that paved the way and it was all started all the way from 1st generation (but maybe just certain country know them) I know that Late Shin Hae Chul is the one that bring the experimential rock from west to SK (from late 80's). Lots of big names now like JYP, Yoo Hee Yeol (TOY) etc went to western country in early 90's to learn more on music and with their talent they've created so many masterpiece in Kpop music industry..
But in 2nd generation, this is where Kpop started to be known worldwide.. started from early 2000 where BoA, RAIN, SE7EN, TVXQ, BigBang, Wonder Girls, SS501, FT Island, Suju, SNSD, SHINee, 2ne1, Fx, Brown eyed girls, 2PM, 2AM, IU, Infinite, After School, Miss A, 4Minutes, Mblaq, Ukiss, Beast (Highlight) and many many more~ this is the time where Kpop was known globally, this is when people get to know about the big 3 agencies (SM, YG & JYP) and they started to have so many world tours...
I really2 miss the 2nd generation idol interactions and how they were like one very big family, support each other although from different labels, and the fandom also always looking forward to the collaborations between group/labels... sadly started from 3rd generation onwards, there are so many toxic fans (not all but many) that somehow makes the idols have to follow extremely strict rules, and they're not free to be/ show their true self in public..

This is the generation where Musicality, Concept, and Talent is the name of the game. This "uniqueness" is what set 2nd Gen kpop the Golden Era. Because every group is different. I took a break in Kpop from 2016 to 2020 (was a fan since 2009), and I agree to most 2nd gen fans here, Kpop did change their sound to something there is no hook for older fans. Don't get me wrong, we get it why this happened since Kpop is exploding in North America now and there is a much younger audience now. But as we always say. they don't make KPOP like this anymore.
PS: most of the new stans call 2nd gen, KPop boomers. hahaha yeah right. (most 2nd gen fans are on their post 25s already hahaha)

I miss this era of K-pop. It wasn’t all about having a pretty face and a perfect body. It wasn’t all about popularity and video views. It was about making music that people enjoy.
Exactly. I often listen their song in radio. Their song are so memorable. My teeneger full of these song! Tvxq, super junior, shinee, snsd, t-ara etc.
It was about looks back then too. Every single one of the people in these groups were/are conventionally attractive. That was already a big draw of Kpop and has been a draw in all entertainment mediums with people dancing/singing.
I get what you mean, but this was also back when companies like SM had what people called “slave contacts” because they were so strict and abusive towards idols :^/ I recommend watching the 9muses documentary that shows what life was like for them as trainees. It’s horrible.
i don't understand why people comment this as if every 2nd gen idol besides shindong weren't ranging from skinny to clinically underweight
they stopped prioritising the music and started prioritising choreography and that was the biggest mistake... that's why i find newjeans refreshing because songs like ditto and attention are genuinely really good and not only good with a performance.

One more thing 2nd gen was literally the best of all the gen they could interact freely do variety shows without being scared of camera , scandals , image and toxic fans I bet there were alot back then but I think less compare to the toxic fans they have in the present state

Infinite, Highlight (Beast) and MBLAQ were my ultimate fav groups back then. ❤️ ❤️ However I also liked Shinee, 2PM,2AM, Bigbang, 2ne1 and U-Kiss a lot... And Ok I almost loved all songs.. 😂 BEST KPOP GEN (RIP Jonghyun "Y si fuera ella" was one of the best songs ever produced (for me personally))
The dancing, choreography, music, outfits and more has changed over time i can tell the dancing has gotten more detailed and powerful thats what i got out of it
truly legendary groups here that helped paved the way for other artists to come in and give us wonderful music i still listen to these groups and their awesome songs
Suju, 2pm and other groups back in the day really stick to their unique style of music to this day and they haven't changed a bit such as being hilarious comedians and being super loud LOL love how they stuck to being just themselves

Second generation kpop groups are too good for this world. they were ahead of their time. It was just a golden era when advanced dancing wasn't all that and it wasn't about appealing to the western industry and not being at the top of charts. Some of these groups are older than most groups known now that almost everyone seems to love and are the same groups being slept on because not many people know about them. Props to those groups who are still going strong despite being an underrated group
