Amanda, your sadness about moving away from your family is valid and a true reflection of how much of a close knit family you are. We all see it in your cooking with baba videos and how you Leena and Loren are more than sisters, you’re best friends. I admire that so much. I lost my baba 3 months ago and I always wish I spent more time with him, there is just never enough time. Please send a prayer to my dad 🙏 May Allah keep you and your loved ones safe.

I felt the exact same way when I got married. I moved to Dubai to start my life with my husband 16 years ago. It was hard moving across the globe. No family no friends and it was the most difficult time for me. But I had my husband alhamdulilah and we did everything together. Travelled to places I never imagined. You'll get used to your new life. Just make the best of it.

Alhamdulillaah ❤ I got married when I was 20 and this year I'll be 41. I say getting married young is a good thing as long as you're having a healthy relationship with your husband. I also try to have a healthy relationship with my parents (I'm only child). I feel like I made the right decision by getting married early.

Interior designer here - I think when people warn you about white couches with kids it’s because most people aren’t in the position to be buying multiple couches over the span of a few years, so they need a material that will withstand for when they have kids. And also your niece! Just another perspective :)

hey Amanda! i just wanted to say that i feel the exact same way about God preparing me to move away from my family. 3 years ago when i got married i moved 6 hours away and it was very difficult for me, but thankfully i was able to visit often and even spent quarantine at my hometown, and now that i have gotten used to my life kinda away from them i am preparing to move to the US (a 7h+ plane ride from home) even though the initial plan was to move back to my hometown with my husband this summer, but God decided otherwise subhanAllah ♥️
so yeah even though it's very challenging (and i do cry when i think about it) i somehow feel more prepared than when i moved 3 years ago. God is the best Planner and He always gives us what we need and what is good for us 🙏 may Allah bless you and give you strength 🤲

Amanda, one way to get help outside of God. Seek therapy. Start early. Start NOW it’s a good way to get ahead of the sadness, homesickness, and possible depression. You will be ok. It is very hard in the beginning, but I promise it gets easier. Good luck and congratulations on your new journey. Welcome to the married girls club, we welcome you. I just celebrated 4 years on 6/2.💕🥂🌸

Dear Amanda, I moved with my husband far away from our familys because of his job. Same like you. I was scared too and can‘t imagine how it will gets. I don‘t know if this helps you, but after three years of marriage I can say it was beautiful like it was and my husband and I used the time to get to know each other and go through everything together. We drive to our familys monthly and we enjoy the time with them even more.
You are right, Allah never put us to something we can‘t bother with. I wish your marriage blessing and that the time will get full of love and happines inshaAllah.
    Love from Germany 💕

I moved about 6km from my parents away after wedding. 6km. That's 20 minutes with the car. And it was so hard the first time, because I was so used seeing them anytime every day. I totally understand you. Luckily my husband fully understood me, even when the distance wasn't much. It's the feeling of being home I was grieving about. But everything came out right. Like always.

Hi Amanda you will be grand. It's normal to feel homesick when you move away from your family. You have a beautiful family and I'm sure they will visit you. You can also visit them. I do remember when I moved to London in the eighties from Ireland I was very homesick. I used to call my Mam a lot. Now there's facetime and video calls so much better. It will be like a new adventure for you Amanda. You will have Mohammed and everything will work out for you xx

I moved away from my family when I got married as well and I wasn't emotionally prepared for it. I hadn't given it much thought before I actually moved, I figured I'd cope just fine and I knew my husband so well and felt so comfortable so there was no reason to worry. But it actually hit me so hard. So it's great that you're anticipating it, preparing for it and communicating it with your husband! I think you're on the right track to making this a smooth transition inshallah. Wish you all the best ❤️

Salaam Amanda. First of all , I’m so happy to hear about your marriage. Second, I can relate to you so much. I lived in Dallas and then San Antonio for a while also. I moved almost a year ago to Chicago after I got married. The adjustment of a brand new life and location has been hard on me, but I have a very comforting husband Alhamdullilah. I hope Allah makes this transition easy for you ❤️❤️❤️ hang in there and look towards all the blessings to come.

After 1 year of marriage, I can say it definitely is both hard and easy. At the start, I cried at the absence of my mama’s love in my home. But I was also so excited to live life with my husband. I hope you don’t feel alone in these feelings. The transition is such a huge one, but gets easier! You will become even closer to your husband than ever before, and slowly that feeling of comfort that your family brings to your heart - your marriage will start to feel similar. You will have 2 families: you and your husband, and the one with your parents & siblings. ❤️

I'm not Arab, but also from a culture that also gets married fairly young (21). It was definitely the right call, but we also did decide to wait a *decade* before we had a child, and I'm really glad we did that. So you should wait as long as you want before having children!

Moving away isn't easy - it was the little things that used to get to me when I left home (the way the street signs look different, the feel of the neighbourhoods). You seem like such a strong and genuine person so while it may be difficult at first, inshAllah you will find your footing. And it doesn't matter how long its been, you're always allowed to miss your family and your home.

I went through the same thing!! I think you are fortunate that your job allows you to work from home or from anywhere, giving you the freedom to travel and visit them more often than if you had an office job. I also work from home and live far from family and the best way to address it has been to travel to see them even if just for a weekend! I try not to let too much time go by in between visits. I know when one gets married, we build a new family of our own but I’m close with my mom dad and siblings as well and if it doesn’t cause to much trouble, visiting them as often as possible might be something to think about! I live about 5 hours away from them as well. I try to visit every other month…. If I find cheap flights! I’d wait longer when flights are more expensive

I also married and moved 5-6 hours away from my family. The best advice is not to hide your emotions and talk with your husband about what you are missing. Believe me, husbands are the best crying shoulder. 😄It is challenging, but honestly period before the wedding when you are overthinking everything is way more challenging (I would never go back to that 😂). You will get used to having your own place pretty quickly and you will feel like you belong there. You will even miss your house and routine when you go back to visit your family.

Your videos are beautiful and heart warming. I come from a mixed Islamic and Christian family yet experienced some trouble growing up and in my early 20s I was engaged yet it was quite spontaneous and the person was not quite right for me. That being said during my teenage years and 20s keeping up with friends sometimes consumed my time yet I learnt to appreciate my own company and the company of my sisters and family also. It’s understandable that you be emotional about marriage and it’s good that you express this that it can give others an insite to other females too xx ❤️❤️

My advice don’t wait too long to have a baby, from experience do it younger it’s easier , once you hit your 30s and after it’s hard physically and emotionally to take care of babies .

It’s all depends on everyone circumstances. I got married young and moved across the world. My home life was awful and I couldn’t wait to leave. Alhumdulileh I married an amazing man and have been married for 15 years. Also depends on the individual and how mature and independent they are.

You should be grateful that you have a close relationship with your family that leaving them makes you emotional…cherish them and remember not everyone is lucky like you..for some girls the idea of leaving their family is what motivates them to marry cause not everyone is blessed with good siblings and Parents .

Hey Amanda. I totally understand what you’re going through, and am not going to lie, for a while it’s going to be hard. Think about women like us who’ve moved to a different country ☹️ but let me tell you, it’s definitely going to get easier and you’ll get busy with your life I swearrrrrrr. I hope it’s going to be amazing in sha Allah. Lots of hugs for you 🤗

Girl you will absolutely miss your family and you will feel homesick even in your own home sometimes. However, with time, your fiancé will become your home and comfort place more so. Everything will be okay 🖤
