Time, money, family, etc. are the biggest obstacles of keeping a build moving. To best avoid hang-ups in stage 2, go to a chopper show. Talk to people and get advice and perspective. In stage 3, just remind yourself that you can accomplish a lot in five minutes. Just grab the cutting wheel, the hammer, the wrench, whatever and start doing something. You'll be pleased with the results...if not, call Grease. Great video, my friend.
As an old guy, health issues are my greatest problem to getting things finished. I work a couple hours when i can. Last couple days ive made myself physically sick. Im thinking late October, to one finished, if the spirits dont carry me away first. David Mann was and has been a major inspiration on most of my builds. Good video. Always looking forward to the next.
I found having a plan on what you want it to look like before you even buy a bike to chop, that's what I did,as soon as it was a roller,it all came together but not without alot of two steps forward ten steps back but it got done a little rough around the edges but that's okay cause I'm a little rough around the edges, new subscriber here.
Idk even where to begin necessarily, I’ve had a cb650 for a couple years and finally just bought a voodoo vintage hard tail (July 16, 6 weeks waiting I believe) then need to get it cut and welded but need to make sure it will be able to fit the tire size according to another build someone else did idk if mine will fit? Then idk if I should get mikuni carbs or stay stock. Then what all needs to be replaced with new/aftermarket parts or what I should keep stock. If I can keep the same forks or if I have to change the triple tree which is probably the same question basically. No idea how to do electrical.. it’s just a whole list but I love the culture and love riding and want to know how
Great advice, my system. Buy the donor bike ie. engine/tranny, by the new aftermarket frame I want. Wheels and tires from donor bike, mock up roller. One piece at a time as dollars permit.
Hell yeah Grease! Just picked up a xs650 hard tail basket case to start my chopper journey. Gonna be using your channel as one of my sources to skip the struggle!
I like to hop in, watch the progression and see what comes out the other end, it's kind of morph thing (almost like sculpting). It makes for something unique that's your own using technical info from different sources and my own ingenuity.- Lefty (Under the Blood M/M) Thanks Grease.
I'm in stage two, got my shit box Shovelhead. Almost everything is broken. And I bought it as a ready to ride bike for to expensive! To build it like I want I will have Problems with the laws in or stupid country (Germany) so I need do compromise every where. Time family Money are also rare here. The shops are extremely expensive, you get in your place for 7k a blast of a bike! We get here just the Panhead frame with papers maybe.. chose a good country for your next project before you run in to a Wall of laws!
It’s definitely a struggle I’ve heard the same from many outside the US but to be fair, if a cop here wanted to ruin my day he absolutely could because no chopper has every little thing it’s supposed to

Thank you brotha! You’ve built some incredible bikes so I knew you’d have some great tips to share with the people 🙏🏼 hope you’re doing well man!

All the chops that actually get ridden are a little rough around the edges. Nothing wrong with that 👍🏼 congrats on getting it done ✅

Note: sell everything from donor bike you are not going to use to buy parts you are going to use. Also get a lift.
You ain’t kidding about the lift! What an important investment that is 🙏🏼

Love to hear it man! That was my first chopper build and it began this whole journey for me. If you need any help don’t hesitate to reach out 🤘🏼
Great video. When I built my chopper I knew what it looked like for 20 years. Keep up the good videos
Thanks brotha 🙏🏼
That one on one call idea is brilliant. Good video.
Thanks brotha 🙏🏼

Great analogy Lefty, always appreciate your input 🙏🏼🤘🏼
You need a place, you need parts, you need money, you need time and you sometimes need help.
Amen to that 🙏🏼
Outstanding topic and motivation thanks!
You got it 🤘🏼
I’m stuck because I ran out of money 😫. I’m 90% almost done too. I started with the engine, frame and trans. I’m so close.
This is one we all go through as well! Give it time 👍🏼 what are you building?
78 kick start no front brake 96” shovel with open belt. S&S internal throttle with 12 bars V-Twin hard tail.
