The best ideas I’ve seen so far! I was trying to figure out how I could sleep in my car in case it rains or I get creeped out while camping alone. This is perfect, I was looking for this exact thing. Thanks so much!
Thank you for this very informative video. I’ve been watching lots of videos on UA-cam on how to sleep in a sedan and I believe in each one of them, you have to remove the backseat which I did not want to do. Yours is the solution I’ve been looking for. I’ve had my car for 13 years and did not realize the rear seats folded down LOL!
Carol, I'm glad I could help. I'm not super handy so even if I did end up wanting to remove my back seats I don't think I could. Sometimes you just don't need those seats to fold down, so I don't blame you.
@@johnsteamsyt They can technically still get in your car if they want to. Just make sure to not keep food stored in the car with you when sleeping! Take my unsolicited advice for what it’s worth.
That wire shelf is genius, I just have my backpack stuffed in that hole 😂, I would have done the same thing with the back seats but the Camry is not anywhere near as flat when they’re just folded down.
Probably sleeping far more comfortable than a tent as well. Love this build, keeping it simple and getting out there 🤙🏼 no need for an ostentatious rig that will never be used as intended.
I am taking out all seats except driver seat. I will build a supporting framework level with the back hatch, that sits in the space of the passenger seat. That way I can extend my legs fully. To the left of the sleeping area will be a four foot high X 3 foot X 4 foot space for storage.
Maybe a tip. Instead of using these cutting boards to put your stoves on you could you just leave the stove in the box (while cooking) so they will not slide while you are cooking. Sliding can be a fire hazard!! Love the idea, very well indeed!! Thank you!
I know it's been awhile but I cannot find a way to do disconnect either the center or the sides. I have found that they dig into my side when I sleep sometimes... I move a lot when sleeping. If you find anyway to do so, please let me know.
Very helpful! I have been looking for a video on this too. My back seats don't fold down, but the back centre console does - I'll get foam and other objects to level out a bed area width wise. I have a 1998 Holden Acclaim Sedan - 217,000 kms on the clock - will be driving the lap, travelling around our great country Australia.
Acclaims are fantastic cars. Love the wagon. You've got a strong V6 in there, I think you'll be able to get 300000 km out of that. Good luck with your project, glad I could help.
Yeah bro honor to you but give it about another 10 years your back is going to be like mine and you're not going to be able to handle sleeping in that position all the time I have to have a flat position and a firm mattress I can't have a back bend where my back is already bent all the time sitting at work so hats off to you
This is the kind of “no build” I’ve been looking for !!!! This was 1000 percent helpful !
Super glad I could help out. I hope your build goes well.
Yes👏. A million thanks!

I spent most of 1969 living in a ‘69 VW Beetle!
All I had was a pillow, LLBean blanket, a toilet kit, maps and a cardboard food box.
the wire shelf is such a smart idea!
You certainly gave me your brilliant idea of placing the wire shelf to-the😮 back of the front passenger seat. Genius
PVC pip is a great idea! Lighter than wood. I would drill a couple of holes so I could store plastic bags in there. 👍🏼
Good idea. Yah love how light PVC is still durable too
I want to by this subaru sedan and suddenly i found this video really inspiring
2:49 “allows us to rest our heads in the abyss here” hahah
Nice and simple. Love the use of the metal shelf.
I was searching so much for video like this Kind of gave up since I didn’t want to make permanent changes. This is so helpful. Thanks for sharing!
I appreciate you a lot for a sedan camper video. I want to plan out some stuff when I set mine up to share on YT
Love this! Can't wait to use it for some solo camping.
It is so much better than a tent. I hope your adventures go well.
THIS!! Have a 2010 Legacy and trying to figure out how to make it campable for weekend/short trips. Thank you SO MUCH
This is dope! Been thinking of doing a 2 week solo trip around the West with my Legacy so this is greatly appreciated!
Brilliant setup. I too hate tents for overnight sleeping.
Thank you, Charlie. Being in a metal box in bear country gives me a lot more comfort than a tent.

Great info brother, im about to do something similiar in a 2018 camry
I hope it all goes well. Best of luck on your adventures.

It looks great. It's all you need.
Nice job bro!
Im going to try this for my ford focus
Would you show in more detail how you mounted the curtain rod using your strap? Thx
Thea, yes, I'll make a video sometime tomorrow and post the link to it here explaining that in better detail. Thanks for watching!
This is a pretty smart concept ngl
Cool build I’m gonna do the same thing
Great video like it
Planning a trip cross Canada 10000 kms return perfect way to sleep .
Sounds like an awesome trip. Stay safe.
Great vid
I have a legacy too--is there any way to disconnect the center seat belt when putting the seats down?
And the side ones?
Let me check for you. Good question. I haven’t really looked into that.
I know it's been awhile but I cannot find a way to do disconnect either the center or the sides. I have found that they dig into my side when I sleep sometimes... I move a lot when sleeping. If you find anyway to do so, please let me know.
Why did you cut the foam in 2 uneven parts?
Forgot to mention this in the video, but storage. I have a storage bag the uneven parts fit perfectly alongside my other gear.
NICE mobile livable space👍👍⬆️
Thank you nice video
great and easy i do the same greats tips
So cool!
Good tips
08/04/24 OUTSTANDING demonstrational video. You ROCK! thank you soooooooo much for this creative and inspiring video!
Is there enough room to sleep on your side or do you need to lay flat?
Yes I can sleep on my side. I just barely miss the top where the trunk meets the interior. I’m 5’10
